any camera with a microphone can do both voice and facial recognition. nothing natal has makes it any better at doing so than a standard webcam. pseye already does it as well.

$150 standalone isn't too far fetched. A 2 camera system (one full color, one infared with infared light attached) with licensed technology, at least 2 microphones, and a couple of years worth of software coding put into it isn't going to come cheap. Microsoft may be willing to accept a loss by bundling it with a $300 Xbox 360, but they will try to recoup their losses by selling it to the core gamer market for a profit. The core gamers are secondary with natal, as MS has already sugge...

note the cleverly placed camera angles to hide the lag. there is literally only a ONE SECOND shot where you can see both the players and the screen at the same time. The exact reason why they're only showing behind closed doors demos (with no cameras allowed) to begin with. they want to be able to cleverly edit the angles to hide the lag.

um.... sony and nintendo ALWAYS set up right next to each other, at every e3 i've been to since 2006 (save for 07, as that was a clusterf%*#k spread out across santa monica).

um... ps3 release november 2006. november 2009 it turned 3. isn't this article a bit late?

edit: nvm... i see it's talking about the euro release. still... ps3 is almost 4 now technically.

they've never announced that natal will be playable on the show floor as of yet, so far this natal experience with no cameras is all they've talked about.

If they were holding back some big bombshell for e3... then why are they not allowing cameras in AT e3?

There's one reason and one reason only that they do not allow you to film natal. LAG. They know that natal has an inherent lag that cannot be avoided (the same lag you see when move draws a sword in your hand, in both cases because they have to wait for the video signal in order to do anything. when move is operating without the augmented reality aspect of it, there is...

pseye is more than capable enough to detect the gesture of your hand throwing a grenade, or signaling your squad, or any number of things you can do with gesture control. it does not require the 3d vision of natal to tell a gesture has been made. gesture based control does not require 1:1 accuracy. zipper has already said they're working on gestures that eye could recognize, like throwing grenades.

That's one thing mentioned in the article. Their only chance at making it on a console is if they team up with the console manufacturer for a first party device.

hahahaha... good one. I personally hope that Sony does not use this tech (which they've already turned down, mind you), as it would drive the cost of the move bundle too high and I do not want to be forced into a USB camera only setup because of the lag and lack of gameplay variety without buttons.

This article simply points out their statement, and examines the possibilities it presents. It's unlikely they'd have much success on consoles by releasing as a third party adapter, fo...

Obviously these guys have their own setup going already. We'll see at e3.

@ ExgamerLegends2:

it depends on the field of view of the camera. They can adjust it so that it sees all of you even up close for a PC version.

because nobody promoted them properly. only now are those companies realizing there is a lucrative motion control market out there.

5891d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

Hey, competition in that market will only drive costs down for us, so that's a good thing. I'd like to see how this setup stacks up against natal though. MS has poured a LOT into making natal what it is. Considering they snagged the ex-executive producer of natal to help make this thing, it sounds promising.

Tried the demo for it, I wasn't all that impressed either.

you have to love how they rag on Move for not having impressive first games, but don't mention anything at all about Natal only having laggy dodgeball at this point.

um, hallmark, this game renders the majority of it's visuals at 540p. it isn't even HD. nobody is worried about losing anything in the realm of graphics to this game.

"peace walker may very well be a great game, but because famitsu reviewed it as such must mean they got paid off"

digging really deep for this one... straight to the bottom of the barrel. hardly what i'd call journalism.

Everyone should realize by now the age of the third party exclusive has come to an end. I think Gears of War is the only notable third party exclusive left that isn't already threatening to jump ship (mass effect's devs have constantly hinted at ps3 versions, now this... and even EPIC is making statements now that don't rule out a ps3 gears of war).
