of course it is required, it has to track your hands somehow, and using only the eye isn't accurate enough.

you honestly expect kinect to move consoles? they can't even generate interest amongst gamers on this site, and they damn sure aren't about to convince the casual gamer to give up their wii's so they can flail around like idiots in their living room they had to re-arrange just to have enough play space to use the damn thing.

It should have read:

"Gran Turismo 5 isn't even out yet and PS3 is already catching up to 360". That IS a pro...

no, MS didn't patent cross game chat in any way sony can't work around. sony themselves admitted that because online gaming isn't as big in japan, and japan is where the firmware updates are made, they have not put any priority on cross game chat as a result. sony's europe and us guys have been trying to convince them to do that for years but they haven't been listening.

this will kick as much ass as the 3D0!

no, they're not worried about attracting new people now, that will come when they can afford to do a price cut. right now they're going for the hardcore gamer, but are offering casual titles as well for early adopters. this is why they launched so many patches for older games to get move compatibility. and I love how you're trying to use move's versatility to try to make it look bad. for your information, all of those 'options' play just as well as any game that was de...

DS, business as usual
PSP, damn impressive vs. DS in japan.
Wii, on the decline
PS3, beating wii in japan, that says something
360, lol.
PS2, farewell.

yes, it is very different. with move, you can have 1 light on, 2 lights on, no lights on, and it still works perfectly. you can have a speaker next to the mic, on top of it, under it, and playing sound and it will still pick you up perfectly (PSeye has software that knows what sounds the speakers are outputting and uses that information to cancel out the sound it picks up from the mics). and the only thing you have to do to properly calibrate a move controller is point it at the screen and pr...

all we have here is a case of "look! there's some feature that's been used many times before in the past that not many people have talked about (wonder why...) that is suddenly going to make xbox 360 games look better than ps3 games even though not a single screenshot or video of any xbox 360 game in development supports this statement! *waves hand* you did not just see uncharted. you did not just see gt5. you did not just see gow3. you did not just see heavy rain. 360 can tessel...

they're game developers that obviously know what they are talking about, you are not. i think i'll trust their word.

no, in the thread I link to it indeed does mention the GPU being able to do tesselation on a hardware level, but states that because of other bottlenecks, using it isn't going to be the best option in many cases. for instance, if you try to tesselate a 20k poly model to try to make it look better, especially more complex models like cars, you only end up with a 20% or so savings in poly count because you have to put in geometry to force the tesselated object to retain certain features tha...

A quote from a game developer on b3d:

"Yeah that's a problem with the 'add polys' method, it just doesn't work quite right with all meshes. If the hardware solution fits the mesh then cool, but in the end it's easier to just roll your own solution that gives you total control. I've been working on something similar lately on the PS3 that creates unlimited lod's in realtime with no artist support, and it works on all types of meshes. It just se...

yeah, i'm no halo fan, but it does seem like the author was just kinda "reach"ing for hits. not many solid points made. just seems like flamebait.

fortunately, I own a ps3 which uses blu-ray discs that are coated with a hard coating that makes them almost entirely scratch resistant, and can easily be cleaned with a t-shirt to like new condition, unlike a DVD which scratches if you look at it funny. that, and my ps3 sits upright, so warping issues are minimalized, and since ps3's blu-ray drive is enclosed in a slot loading drive, there is a much lower chance of dust from anywhere else in the console getting into the drive itself vs. ...

er, megaton, removing things is the way they did secure the holes. it was the only way. and all they removed was support for counterfeit unlicensed controllers.

It's an immature article all the way through. Acting as if 3D is "infesting like roaches" etc. and that it's an "old technology" is stupid. First of all, every 3dtv out there is a fully capable 2d set also, so even when 2d sets are phased out in favor of 3d, the author won't be forced into accepting any of it. Second, the tech used to deliver 3D in killzone 3 is by far not old and is quite state of the art in reality. It would have not been even remotely possib...
