Sony already is implementing this effect in their games without the 3d depth ability. you don't really need it when you can just judge things like how far apart your eyes are to tell how far away from the screen your head is. in fact, almost all of PS move's depth tracking is done with the 2d camera by looking at how big the orb is on top of the controller.
it will, however, free up CPU resources like you said. however, when you aren't CPU bound, it's not as b...
those "god aweful" shadows are also in forza, just nowhere near as many of them. look at the interior view, same jaggy shadows, just nowhere near as well rendered (the shadows don't seem to be cast from the side windows as they do in gt5, where they rotate along as the car turns flawlessly).
yes, there are some bad moments with gt5's shadows, but the overall effect provides a much higher level of detail and realism to forza 3's cartoony visual style.
I have move, so this was a nice surprise. I imagine the millions of others who also have move thought the same.
Wow. This stoops to a new low. "OK, they said 4.1 million, so let's say 2.5 million but then spin it by cutting that number almost in half with a guesstimate, so we can report 1.6 million in the headline as if it were coming from some other official source other than our asses."
You also won't sell tens of millions of copies of your game.
actually, it runs at 1080p, not 1080i, and features twice the number of cars on screen as well as uses higher detailed car models all at the same time. oh yeah, and it can do it in 3D as well.
BTW meerkat, GT5 offers 720p as well with higher AA.
As for screen tearing, while definitely there it's not as bad as some have made it out to be. The overall visual experience is hands down better than anything Forza has done.
i love how all the "AI tests" feature you doing one thing you'll never do when actually playing the game... Sitting facing the wrong way on the track waiting on oncoming traffic.
Those investors that dumped 500 million into advertising a product that didn't even sell as well as Sony's which didn't dump anywhere near that amount into advertising... they have to be really happy right now. Especially since Xbox as a brand has never once turned a single dime of profit before (MS never made back that 6 billion they lost on Xbox 1).
yes it does. Shipped = sold to sony. Sony sells to retailers, not to you or me. they ALWAYS (MS and nintendo included) report shipped numbers in their official financial statements.
They all, Sony MS and Nintendo, report shipped in their financial reports.
Exactly, their investors will sue the crap out of them if they were to lie about their sales. It's a legal requirement for them to tell the truth.
As for the person who said sony would buy back all unsold stock, if that were true the term "clearance sale" wouldn't exist.
then it would be like warhawk.
so funny, you never hear someone at a theater say "give me a 3d movie theater without the glasses". nobody seems to mind it then, because it's only for a movie and only for a little while. few realize 3dtv works the same way. i've had many people come to me thinking you always had to wear the glasses just to watch the tv, no matter what you were watching.
i've used it for a good while without a single headache.
oh wow, you just revealed how much of a tool you are, basing entire opinions on a game by reviews alone (most of which have been rather positive for GT5). it's all good though, those of us smart enough to actually try games we're interested in will still get to enjoy the best racing sim ever made.
some of the best games ever made have had mediocre reviews. you can't always trust them.
awesome stuff.
Fantastic review man, coming from a fellow reviewer. Very well done. You made me want that game without a single ounce of hype. You simply showed me what I wanted to see. What does it do, and why should I care? No hype, no comparisons, just you and the game. The way reviews should be done.
you know, that dog sitting next to the car with half a million polygons in it... yeah. that one.
take a look at GT game sales in the past. Then look at halo sales. Yes, the first 4 GT games have sold more than the entire halo universe combined. Not even counting GT5:prologue or GT5.
eye can do it without the IR lights on the glasses, it just tracks your face. GT5 already uses it, as does the fight: lights out, although the latter only uses it to detect when you duck. GT5 actually allows you to look around your car by using head tracking though, and the 3d headtracking like seen here has also been demoed on pseye without any extra hardware.
here you go...
