ANY game is far from perfect. perfection is subjective.

Summary of this article: "GT5 does some amazing things techically, and is the best racing sim out there, but our sponsor's game is really fast and has cop cars and crashes and shit! but GT5 is a good game"

I think it tried to reply to me... let me see if i can attempt at piecing together an argument for them to use out of what it said.

GT5 Frame buffer data:

1280x720 with 4xAA = 28Mb

1280x1080 with QAA = 21Mb

Xbox 360's Frame buffer = 10MB EDRAM.

as you can see, team MS would have their hands full trying to get this to run smoothly on their box. especially in 3d.

I do agree though, do not show an interior view of a car in a trailer that is coming from a replay mode that is noticeably better looking than the actual game itself when being played. that only builds false expectations. the whole photo mode screens and replay videos in all of these racing games these days is all smoke and mirrors to cover up the real in engine experience you get when actually driving the car. forza was by far the worst, actually subbing out the entire car models in replays ...

actually, it was Microsoft that made the comment about xbox having toy story graphics, not Sony.

""One of the basic premises of the Xbox is to put the power in the hands of the artist," Blackley said, which is why Xbox developers "are achieving a level of visual detail you really get in 'Toy Story.'"

i think the only difference isn't the resolution of the water, but the fact that it is all motion blurred (as are the wiper blades) in the trailer. could have come from a replay mode for all we know, where such processing would be present.

when you are the king of anything, your every action will be scrutinized by those wishing to replace you.

it is every bit of what it set out to be, but it wasn't forza+NFS hot pursuit+burnout+pure+split second wrapped into one racer, so that has to be worth docking a point or two off right?

they didn't have a city destruction mode, or a online decal spray shop where you can trade paint jobs with your friends using your cell phone.

damn GT5, so behind the times when it comes to real driving simulators.

keep on pwning them blacksmoke.

i love how they try to defend XBLA as if it's better than PSN, yet very little of the content they mention is actually original. MS just dumps a bunch of old ports on there and tosses out a new one once in a while and somehow that's better than brand new franchises that take gaming into a new direction (flower, journey, for instance) rather than the same old tired crap we've been playing since 1995.

that doesn't...

then do some research on karts, and realize it is actually possible to win a race in reverse since the reverse speed is the same as the forward speed.

"It's a little bit too twitch-based, not to mention the fact that standing on your feet for three minutes and throwing punches is something that, believe it or not, might be beyond the fitness level of most gamers."

too twitch based... meaning lag would kill the experience. sorry kinect owners, but it looks like no fight night for you. move is the only controller with a real chance at it.

low resolution shadows is something that no game this generation is going to get around. we have had several developers (namely one guy from crystal dynamics and another from ninja theory that post on our site and forums)who we talk with at our site who have explained that shadows are one of the hardest things to do in video games, and that all current gen hardware just isn't up to par when it comes to rendering them. they've made progress, (remember that pixelated flickering garbage ...

exactly, we were controlling games on pc with webcams only in the 90's. eyetoy then did it on consoles. kinect is just another incremental step.

"+ it's way more affordable on PC. "

um... how is having to drop $200 on a video card in addition to the PC itself in order to be able to run a game in decent 3D, not even counting the monitor, cheaper than paying $300 for a PS3 and then buying a 3d monitor?

5694d ago 7 agree9 disagreeView comment

it's the same, but you're going to pay a lot more getting setup to run 3d on PC than you will on PS3. you'll actually get better results on the pc though, since you'll get an actual HD image out of the 3D. although i've heard that nvidia 3d tech doesn't do well resource wise, and really bogs down the performance of the game.

This article fails in a few ways. First of all, the size requirements they gave are for UNCOMPRESSED video. Uncompressed 1080p also exceeds the storage/bandwidth capacity of the average consumer grade product as well. You won't ever see uncompressed 1080p on a Blu-Ray, not the current 50gb version at least. Compression can offer a nice reduction in file size, making such resolutions more manageable.

The issues this article doesn't pose are, why bother? Most homes are...
