Lol @ evil... "Hardcore" gamers do not care about something that doesn't have any buttons and has up to a half second of input lag. They complain enough about a few milliseconds of lag during their online play, why in the world would they care about flailing their arms around only to see their actions represented on screen a half second later, not even factoring in online lag?
Kinect has uses for hardcore gaming, but unfortunately not any that have yet made use ...
Dante, you don't have to have more cores to be more powerful. Case in point, current 6 core PC chips are a good bit more powerful than the 8 core cell that launched in 2006 was. The reason being, Cell's cores are not full fledged processor cores, but SPUs (essentially DSP's). So, there is nothing saying that the 16 cores in this rumored chip will be full fledged cores, or that each of those cores will be all that powerful. You can't just take a number of cores and extrapolate ...
First of all, this tech was originally developed for Wii, but PS3 incorporated it without the need for glasses (it was demoed at GDC one year). There is nothing preventing the current PS3 from doing this. However, the tech is only useful when you are moving your head, and since we typically sit still while gaming it's purpose is easily defeated. Sony's 3D visor coupled with this tech is a much more viable alternative, however I think they would just put a gyro on the visor so they cou...
Your ratios couldn't be more off.
"When PS3 was released with 256 MB ram dedicated to Graphics, PC users had 512 MB Graphics Cards , ratio 1:2 , this time the ratio will be more like 1:4. "
How is that possible when the most VRAM you can get in a video card now is 2GB? The rumored specs put PS4's VRAM at 1GB, which is half of the current max.
"The CPU had roughly equal or better performance than PC CPUs but this time i...
Then where are those games? Are you telling me Nintendo and Sony don't want them?
yes, but you know good and well MS snapped up the rights to what would have made an excellent move game, and forced them to remove the controller and still try to build a game around it.
Oh they'll play them alright, but you can expect things like online passes to become a standard experience.
I think there's one in the mall called GAP.
This whole article is crap. How many in the media called Kinect Natal before it was released? And who is to say that they do not stick with the Orbis name? The whole "Orbis" and "Vita" being a reference to "circle of life" hints that they might indeed stick with that name. It works for them, and I see nothing wrong with it.
Dual GPUs isn't a very good idea in a console for many reasons. First of all, heat. They already had the RROD nightmare, and rumors are already coming out of heat issues with the current build of Durango.
Second, power consumption. Also, since performance doesn't scale perfectly when adding another GPU, they'd be better off just putting in a single GPU that was twice as powerful.
It's possible they could go for the GPGPU route and let the ot...
You don't buy that? Ask Nintendo, 1995, Virtua Boy. Remember? Went full retard. Went home empty handed.
Sony has gone on record saying they've been experimenting with the tech for VR uses back when they first showed that visor, so it does relate to the article in that regard. However, the visor currently on the market has no VR capability whatsoever. There is no motion tracking hardware in the visor, it is just a screen and headphones.
That said, I expect to see VR be the new fad this gen like motion control was last. The tech is getting small enough and of enough quality t...
I know one company that has been preventing users from accessing the multiplayer side of their games unless their users pay a fee for a long time now. To many, that is definitely having to pay extra to play half of the game. So, if that is acceptable, I don't see why this is not.
No, the patent reported on in the article I linked to had just been filed when we reported on it.
Did "journalist" forget how to use punctuation?
What is truly lame is you trying to act as if you have any idea how many people out there like sixaxis control, and even going so far as to pull a number out of your ass to try to back up your bullshit point.
So he'll put in optional display modes for colorblind people, but won't put in optional control modes for people who liked controlling the game with sixaxis over using the analog sticks (like me)... Lame.
So I already own a more powerful GPU... No thanks.
I think they pulled this article from before PS3 launched, and just swapped the 3 for a 4.
And they're right, PS4 will fail, because there won't be a PS4. The chances of Sony calling their next console PS4 are very low. Japanese folks don't like the number 4.
