Now you know the real reason why Kinect is required to turn the system on. They want to be able to count how many of you are sitting in front of the screen so they can nickle and dime you based on the size of your family.
Better hope it doesn't think your dog is a person, or that nobody comes over while you're in the middle of watching a movie.
*Xbox has detected an additional viewer. You will be charged $1.99 to continue.*
PS4's memory also has roughly 250% more bandwidth (not taking the ESRAM bandwidth into account, because it can only hold 32mb's of data at a time and therefore has limited uses in improving memory bandwidth).
If they want to talk about the cloud, they're forgetting about Gaikai and all of the cloud based patents Sony bought with them that Microsoft can't touch. Sony did good by buying into another company that had already invested the time and money into research and development of their platform, rather than trying to develop something themselves from the ground up.
However, in the end, what this guy is basically saying is "Xbox One won't be as powerful for a lo...
Japan: "We're not committed to Microsoft." with Xbox anything.
His first sentence says it all... "not close enough to really understand how [Sony's] system works". (Translates) "I'm talking out of my ass. I literally have no idea what I'm talking about, I was just told by my boss to say things that make this system look good."
@kneon
first impressions are key, however, and this hasn't been a good one. consumer confidence in the brand has taken a huge hit.
I'll never support a console that makes you pay to play online (especially now that the PS4 and steambox - if it ever releases - are offering Live's best features free). I'll never support a console that tries to shove DRM down our throats. I'll never support a console that forces me to connect a camera and a microphone to it in order for it to work. I'll never support a console that requires me to let it phone home at least once per day in order for me to play the games ...
I personally think they are great, but if you happen to only be into the dudebro shooter type games, I could see how someone wouldn't be into it.
I'd at least try the redesigned PS4 controller before you hate on it.
They say first impressions are the most important, so it may be too late for them to recover from the damage done.
Well, it is the only console that seems to rely solely on it's first party to move units. Third parties ignore it mostly. Xbox would be the exact opposite, relying mostly on third parties for it's games. Sony seems to have struck the sweet spot right in between.
That doesn't make Wii U a bad console, but if N's first party games are not your cup of tea, there won't be much else on the console to satisfy you. As such, I can't say his opinion is far fet...
Wow, this is almost as bad as the "deal with it" comments from before.
@talisker, I never thought of that. Those who speak with an accent will have a hell of a time trying to use this system.
i'd rather just be able to go back the past 15 minutes and pick out what I want, rather than having to bother telling my machine to record it. I like the idea of that process being automated.
They could show 1000 new Ips and it wouldn't change the fact that they're selling a turd of a system that requires you to pay full price for a game you borrowed from a friend if your friend doesn't want to let you use their XBL account to play it (and who would want to let you ruin their online stats?), doesn't have an upgradeable internal hard drive (you better hope it doesn't break), requires a microphone and camera to always be on, 24/7 in your home (kinect is watching...
Heads are definitely rolling over this.
MS reps at all levels are contradicting themselves.
I agree, damage control. Heads are rolling in redmond right now.
is peter talking out of his ass again?
Guys, ps3 actually had a weaker gpu than 360, the cell helping is the only thing that enabled it to slightly pull ahead of the 360 in some exclusives.
This time around it's much different. 50% more power in the gpu (18 compute units vs 12, 1152 gpu cores vs 768), and 250% more ram bandwidth (178gbps vs 68gbps. I'm not counting esram because it can only hold a tiny 32mb at a time, and only the gpu can access it, limiting it's uses severely.), not counting having 2g...
