@Freak

exactly, they claim that they are going to have 3 servers running on each xbox with 300,000 servers (this is how they backtracked when approached on how they expected a 300% increase in power when using the cloud). If that were true, after 100k players their system would be maxed out and the game would have to run in "standard xbox one" mode for the rest of the world.

Even with these servers, the horribly slow latency and small bandwidth pipe...

it's all in the cloud maaaaan. 300,000 servers are gonna make it all ok. who cares if they can only communicate at between 3mbps to 2gbps max, at between 8-200ms of delay per command! the cloud is the magical answer that will make up all the difference. 4K gaming is coming to Xbone from these super-servers!

What I don't get is that people didn't see this coming. Microsoft has been well known to do this sort of thing in the other areas of their business. look at how they got in trouble with skype after they bought it, for spying on people's conversations. That is why I never supported their Xbox brand. They charge for everything they can, restrict the crap out of everything, and then have the nerve to tell you that you can't even use their products at all unless you let them watch...

Hopefully they do something to apply pressure to Microsoft. Hopefully they can get enough negative press from this to be forced to change their ways, because this direction they are heading is quite disturbing. Not only does their device watch and listen to me, but it sees in night vision and makes a damn 3d model of my living room. Requiring it to always be connected is the dumbest (and scariest) thing Microsoft has ever done.

They're called options. For those who do no...

Sony has already specified that they will leave it up to the publisher to implement their own DRM mechanisms. EA obviously has chosen to either respond to consumer backlash or to implement their DRM/online pass systems on these consoles.

I don't mind that, as it is up to me to decide if I wish to support that type of publisher by buying their game or not. what I do mind is when my console itself actually forces that DRM on me no matter which game I am playing.

This is the thing, the others' press conferences and press releases during E3 will ALSO be about games, games, games. This following the previous reveals that too were already about games, games, games. In other words, the other guys didn't have to waste an hour of our time talking about DVR capabilities and fantasy football, so even if MS brings nothing but games to the table at E3 they still will be playing catch up.

I couldn't agree more with the "vote with your wallet" comments. The actions MS has shown has proven they do not have us, the consumer, in mind. They are after profits alone, and if we purchase this machine we are setting a precedent. We are telling these companies that it is OK to require an always-on camera and microphone in order to use our video game consoles. We are saying it's OK to apply DRM to all of our games that makes it a pain in the ass to just lend a game to a ...

"There are ways around this issue and Microsoft may address them at E3 but after a statement was madw why wouldn't he address a backup plan immediately to ease gamers minds in case disaster struck the new Kinect."

C'mon, so called "journalists". Edit your damn articles. madw? Ending a question with a period? Seriously?

This article makes some bold assumptions considering Sony has not said how they plan on handling used games other than "PS4 will play used games.".

By that logic I could have said that cloud passing by that I liked was also relevant due to Microsoft's focus on cloud gaming lately.

It's an off topic comment, that's all i'm pointing out. It does nothing to further the conversation about the Xbox One Store, it's used game situation, etc.

PC games, save for the rare exclusives, are built upon the bar that consoles set. they always just play console games cleaner, smoother, and at a higher resolution. Very rarely does a game come along that can be considered truly "a generation above" the consoles until late in the consoles' life cycles. We still aren't seeing that many games on PC that are on the shelves right now that can be considered to look as good or better than what we've seen on the next gen consol...

I like that cloud that is passing by in the sky right now, but because it didn't have anything to do with this post I didn't bother commenting about it on here. You should consider the same.

"You're not mad because our policies with the new Xbox One are crap, you're just mad because of the way those darn journalists worded it. They didn't sugar coat it enough and toss enough spin on top of it like we do when we tell it to you, so you got all butthurt about it."

It really is amusing, so try to get a better understanding of it before you attempt to explain it.

Kinect is always on... watching you masturbate in 3D infrared.

Younger people especially, who are just getting out in the real world and getting by on low paying jobs as they go to school... Those are the kind who will be having the hardest time keeping a steady internet connection going, and those are a huge chunk of Xbox's target demographic. This doesn't even touch on people who live in rural areas where a good net connection is not only hard to find but also often much more expensive.

1. they showed up on time
2. they remembered to put their clothes on
3. they invited members of the press
4. they put up a big tent
5. they had flashy lighting and video production.

from there it was all downhill.

It still doesn't change the fact that if you end up going broke and need to drop your internet connection for a little while, your machine stops playing games all together. Or, if like me, you live in a hurricane prone area and end up losing power for weeks at a time. Running your console off the generator to help pass the time until the power comes back on will no longer be possible on this machine. Lending games to a friend will still be a pain in the ass, since the game is tied to your...

this is a bunch of crap. First of all, in order for the cloud to be useful to the system, it has to be able to transfer data to and from the system for processing fast enough to not create any latency. Your system is only as powerful as it's slowest component, and if half of your calculation is taking place over the internet, you're dealing with anywhere from a 20ms to 100ms delay on each command. That is an eternity in game processing terms. Not only that, but you're limited in b...

@elite

First of all, cloud computing is not exclusive to Xbone. Sony is actually farther ahead in that area than microsoft being that they just purchased a company that has been doing it (the world leader in cloud gaming no less) since 2008.

second, your quote that supposedly proves all 8gb's are accessible to games is bogus. the only thing it says is that the memory is unified as one 8gb block instead of having separate pools of memory for video, CPU, an...
