Sony is likely under a lot of pressure from developers like EA to implement some sort of DRM scheme on their console. I imagine that due to this campaign, there are some high level meetings going on between Sony reps and reps of EA, Activision, Ubi, etc. right now. I imagine Sony is trying to walk the fine line that keeps these developers still wanting to release their content on PS4 (it would be a catastrophic loss for them to go exclusive on Xbox One) while keeping the gaming public happy. ...
I can't believe this article got so popular, considering it's one feature that Xbox One also has. It's not like this gives PS4 any kind of advantage. There are many other features that do give it an edge that I think are more important. You know, like not requiring a camera to spy on you and that sort of thing.
the aliasing in gt5 isn't that bad, it was a poor capture.
There are legitimate reasons to sell additional content after a game is released. The development times for these AAA games keeps growing, and when you have deadlines and tight budgets you can't always squeeze in the content you wanted to in time. Some levels may get cut, etc.
This offers a way for that content to not wind up on the cutting room floor. There is no doubt that some developers have abused this, such as Capcom selling DLC that was already on the game disc, b...
This is an interesting new way to market DLC... Much like how sites like Amazon let you buy entire seasons of a TV series for a set amount, this pretty much does the same thing with DLC. I kinda like it.
andibandit, MS didn't build anything from the ground up. They're retrofitting their current Xbox Live servers with a bunch of virtual machines (which is how they get the 300k claim) that will aid in processing certain tasks, and it is nothing Sony can't do with gaikai's 24 datacenters in addition to the servers they already own and likely will install to support PS4's needs.
But the real issue is, our current network infrastructure just isn't good enou...
Microsoft are blowing "clouds" of smoke up your ass, and you're buying it hook, line and sinker.
At 60fps, a frame must be rendered every 16.67ms. That means EVERY calculation that goes into that frame has to be completed well before then, then the frame must be rendered to the frame buffer, then post processing must be applied, and then the frame is drawn to your TV. Do a ping test on your home connection and you'll see how this becomes a problem, especial...
Blockbuster still exists?
@jokes on you, tell that to the kid who had the FBI show up at his house over posting a pro Ron Paul youtube video clip during the elections, or the various constitutionalist and tea party organizations that were targeted by the IRS for having words like "liberty" or "constitution" in their names. Or the Iraq war vet that was dragged out of his home by police and arrested illegally with no charges filed just for posting about a revolution taking place in this country on Fa...
Obviously both George Bush Sr. and Joe Biden believe in it also, being that both of them have expressed a desire to introduce it soon on video.

Unless you play shooters or fighting games where every millisecond of delay is enough to kill your performance, then you run into issues even on the fastest network connections known to man. I'm talking about the frame-counters who play street fighter, or the speed-sniping COD junkies.
If you like the average platformer or adventure game, cloud gaming can be good. however, even the best cloud gaming experience is delivered over a 10-12mbps video stream, so you also take ...
Yes, Microsoft can use Xbox One to sell your viewing habits to the highest bidder. It can also sell an infrared 3D video of you banging your girlfriend if it wants to... or give that conversation you just had with your pot dealer to the police.
don't get your head too high up in the clouds... our current net tech doesn't allow for much to be done in the cloud when it comes to aiding in games processing. our internet latency and bandwidth is just not where it needs to be. Even onlive and gaikai only offer 10-12mbps video streams, with a nasty dose of network lag tossed onto the controls.
the future of gaming is in the cloud, but it's not the present. not yet. much like the future of gaming is digital dist...
Then there's the fact that Microsoft flat out lied about having 300k servers running Xbox Live's cloud gaming, when in reality those are virtual machines running on a much smaller number of ACTUAL physical servers. Even the creator of Braid was quick to call them out on that BS.
"question is what are the governments going to do about this."
They're probably all standing in line to get their hands on the surveillance data from Microsoft. having a camera watching and listening to you, all the while making a 3D model of the inside of your home, is a dream come true to many of them.
yeah, i was wondering why they used a picture of a racist murderer myself.
Back when I was into PC gaming, I played UT2004 with both a controller and a mouse. The controller was held in the left hand, using L1 for jump, L2 for crouch, L3 to enter/exit/use, the d-pad was mapped for other functions that I needed it for. the mouse handled aiming, shooting, alt-fire, and the scroll wheel switched weapons. I was able to murder everyone using that layout, as I had perfect analog control of all my vehicles and movement, and all the accuracy of a good mouse.
Profits or not, the fact that Sony was able to release a console a year later than Xbox 360 that cost $200 more and still go on to sell more units by the end of the generation is nothing short of incredible.
Neither made any profit. Sony was sitting on profits from PS2's era, which were wiped out by PS3's losses. MS was sitting on over 4 billion dollars lost from the Xbox, which still has not been recovered by the Xbox 360 (in fact, another billion was thrown on top during the RROD fiasco).
This chart shows how much they've lost, and it only takes into account the last 2 years of the original Xbox's life. As you can see, they actually lost more money in the first ...
You're damn right they'd still complain, and with good reason! You can pile 1000 bad ass games into that conference, and it won't change the fact that the system flat out sucks. DRM, always-on requirements, a mandatory Kinect spying on you, no upgradeable internal hard drive, weaker hardware, these are the kinds of flaws no amount of Master Chiefs or Marcus Fenix's can fix. As the saying goes, you can't polish a turd.
