Graphics have to suit the game, this does not mean they have to be revolutionary.
The game is actually quite fun and for the price it deserves a good score. Now if they were charging $20 for it I dare say it would not be scoring as well.
Buying exclusives JUST because they're exclusives is not something I'd recommend. Good games will sell, mediocre ones won't. Your list is full of games that simply didn't appeal to a mass audience or simply got overshadowed by the barrage of good games that came out last year.
Custom playlists, who would have thought /s.
Even though I owned a Go I'm not afraid to admit it tanked. I'm just surprised it tanked worse than the last PSP model that didn't include WiFi.
What if the Vita does fail, what might that mean for the PS4 and garnering developer support and consumer appeal.
Comes down to what games consumers want however, these noises about 2013 being Vita's time to shine echo the same noises at the end of 2011 about 2012.
The Vita needs a relaunch to put it back on the map as 2013 is shaping up to be a very crowded year for portable gaming devices.
For goodness sake. Surface is looking set to fail because of a lack of apps, Sony should just release an update to open the Vita up to use the Play store and be done with it.
I don't think Shield will be a game changer but next gen devices based on the Tegra 4 architecture will be.
Too many people forget that not only did their respective consoles initially cost more to produce than what they sold for but also the billions spent bringing them to market in the first place. A business has to recoup R&D costs otherwise its not profitable.
I wouldn't say never but there has to be a financial incentive for doing so. Imagine if the Vita had been Google Play store friendly from the get go but could also exclusively play games specifically made for it.
Imagine however, docking the iPad next to your TV then picking up a controller and using the iPad like a console. The processing power being built into tablets and smart phones is making this a distinct possibility and I for one love it. Although I will be going down the Android and not iOS route if it happens.
It plays rock steady smooth on my Nexus 7, not bad for $5. Was hard to control initially but since started using my DS3 to play it so all is fine now. I doubt however having games like GTA:VC will stop people generalising tablet gaming as nothing more than "casual".
Every company has failed product lines so why all the dramatics?
So an idiot is someone that buys a console to play the games he or she wants? I own both a PS3 and 360 and the biggest disappointment this gen is fanboys.
So, MS selling more 360s than original xbox consoles is seen as a failure? Yet Sony selling less PS3s than PS2s is a success?
Honestly, fanboyism blinds common sense. MS has increased its market share where Sony's has decreased. No matter what way you want to spin it Sony has not performed as well this gen.
I think what he meant is that portable devices will pack enough processing power to be multipurpose in terms of their application. That is, smartphone in your pocket or console when docked next to your TV.
Yes, 2 new colours, this will attract developers back to the Vita. Honestly, only way Vita will sell is if Sony changes its name to iPad.
@optimus:
I did buy one, for my son at least anyway. I was a long time PSP owner and also had a PSP Go but the Vita simply does not do it for me. After selling my Go shortly after Sony ditched further production of it in 2010 I picked up a tablet and for me the Vita cannot compare. Even the games on my tablet look better, sure it doesn't have physical controls but guess what, after upgrading to a Nexus 7 I can just plug in a PS3 controller!
But the big differen...
What, you mean make it more last me a smartphone or tablet?
People completely overlook the importance of apps when consumers are making their purchasing decisions.
So tell me then, even with all those games and...handful of apps, why is the Vita not selling? My prediction is that by xmas 2013 the Vita will be completely irrelevant to those wanting the best portable gaming has to offer. Tegra 4 devices will make sure of that.
All the disagrees will not change the fact that the Vita will be Sony's biggest failure since mini disc and beta max.
They have the potential to be AAA games however, I will buy based on demos and what I can find out about the games once they are released.
