That's only true if you can use the same strategy in 2013 for a console and portable device. Like it or not it would appear the Vita is fighting for the same dollar as mobile phones and tablets. Thing is, over the next 5 years mobile phones and tablets will be a heck of a lot more advanced and even more versatile. Do you really think a Vita will be selling in the numbers needed 2 years from now? Do you really think Apple and Samsung would sit on the same basic model for 5 years?
How is this free stuff any different to the free stuff you can get for other mobile devices. You know, the same free stuff Sony fanboys claim is rubbish?

Regardless of whether or not you disagree margins are being squeezed and in order for developers to get adequate return on their investment they need to maximise platform support, I.e. release on multiple consoles.
There will always be exclusives but these will be fewer and farther between.
Every company gets it wrong from time to time even with all the brainiacs as you suggest. Otherwise beta max would have been a blazing success along with the mini disc. Just because Sony's name is on the Vita does not necessarily mean it will succeed.

The Vita gets its fair share of shovelware just like every other platform. Thing is, just like the Vita, there are some real gems available for phones/tablets but for a fraction of the price. I would rather play Modern Combat 4 for only $6 than COD on Vita any day of the week. Especially since it has controller support.

For me Shield will be a hard sell however, next gen phones and tablets based on the Tegra 4 will be portable gaming powerhouses.
Seems like more and more of us don't care about second hand sales. Personally if the DD is priced right I will download over buying on disc when there is an option. However, at present both Sony and MS charge far too much for DD retail game. It should not be cheaper for me to import a game from half way round the world than it is to buy from PS Store or Marketplace.

I have never purchased a full retail game of PSN (or marketplace) as they cost more than getting them on disc!
Rumours are one thing but the way fanboys are using them to flame attacks is just plain pathetic. I may end up getting both the next gen Sony and MS offerings like I did this gen however, the one I get first will be the one with the games I want. If the PS4 was released with a true next gen GT then I would be sold, same goes for Xbox if it came with a new Halo.

Apple, Android, Sony and MS have been proving for years that they can survive in a marketplace without second hand sales. Otherwise iTunes, play Store, PSN and Marketplace would not be nearly as successful.
So many times I see people say things like I bet they didn't count downloaded game sales in their totals, well, each download means one less potential copy up for resale later on.
Second hand sales have been declining for years for both music and more recently movies. Gaming is just catching up. However, price games like music and people don't care about second hand sales otherwise where would Apple and Android be.

Give it 2-3 years and will offer more diverse and richer gaming experiences. The Tegra 3 is capable but Tegra 4 is a game changer in a $99 price range.
Any reason to bag one console over the other, its plain ridiculous. Installing the game means little to no disc swapping so why is this an issue? PC gaming is still largely DVD based yet Sony fanboys don't bag the PC for having to install.
