I thought Sony promoted remote play with the ps3 before the Vita was launched, now its only really coming with the ps4?!?
Remote play may be great for playing when you can't get on your regular TV however, I would rather play first time through with ps4 games on my 1080p TV and home theatre system for the best experience. A 5" screen cannot compare to 50".
@Darth:
Sony decreased the number of activated systems in 2011. I found myself in the same situation you now find yourself in. Basically you have to deactivate.
Although the change to their activation policy annoyed me it was how they classed anyone as a pirate who'd need more than 2 activated systems.
Add to that:
-System activation policy
-Confirmation over whether activations fees will be imposed for second hand games
-Media support...please, mkv files at long last!
-Confirmation on region locking
-Confirmation of cloud services for nz in support of streaming ps3 games
-Confirmation if you'll have to repurchase games you already own to play them on ps4.
Sony has already said most games will be able to work in 1080p but don't assume that means its all now 1080p@60fps for everything. The PS3 can do 1080p@60fps but those games are few and far between and are not as graphically rich as say Uncharted or Killzone 2.
I expect that there will still be games that will be native 720p@60fps in order to accommodate other aspects of the visuals.
Same could be said for those that think Sony can do no wrong.
Anyway, not seeing the console was not a deal breaker but I had expected too. However, as for the games they were good and certainly could see myself picking a couple of them up. Especially Infamous and Killzone.
I'm still interested in the detailed specs as they become known as what we got was just a summary and how it might perform on paper.
And fanboy wars continue. Its honestly the worst thing about gaming.
It should always be about the games which don't always need to be innovative.
I saw the games as I expected. Why in hell would you assume that I don't care about the games or support?
I also expected to see the console. What's wrong with that?
Most the people on this site seem to just attack a comment rather than debate or discuss it.
Which one am I getting first then? I have 3 ps3s, 1 360, 2 x 3ds, 2 x nexus 7s and 1 Vita in my household. I guess that makes me a fanboy...of gaming.
What's your excuse for being a troll?
So, you think the ps4 is what will save the Vita then?
I was expecting to see it. A hell of a lot more than I wanted to see Blizzard come out and talk about the over hyped Diablo III. And where are the full specs in terms of HDD capacity, if its upgradable, etc. I really wanted to see the unit and its odd they didn't show it. Have they ever done a console reveal in the past without the console?
I watched...didn't blow me away as it obviously did you. Repeated character models, blank stares, when covered behind a wall your weapon still unnaturally fits between your character and the wall. Climbing the building your weapon almost disappears and re-appears as you climb. Not like it had any real weight. Particle effects were again average with smoke disappearing like steam.
It looked good but certainly not ground breaking. Honestly, it looked like a Crysis game...
I have to agree re: Kill zone. It didn't do much for me at all as there was nothing we had not seen before. In terms of visuals characters still gave blank stares, repeated character models, smoke still disappears like steam. It was solid looking but not mind blowing. Not like when I played KZ2 the first time.
So, another variant of remote play. Not sure if I like it at all.
Unless MS announces some must have exclusives I'll probably get the PS4 first. All comes down to the quality and availability of games for me.
I'm more interested in how Tegra 4 will improve mobile gaming as following hot on the heels of shield will be next gen tablets and smart phones powered by Tegra 4.
The original looks pretty good as well and is free to play! It also features controller support so it runs and plays beautifully on my Nexus 7.
$60 per month, you sure about that?
I'm waiting for the games before I decide which next gen console to get first. However, also considering a return to PC gaming as my kids would benefit more from a general purpose device.
Touchscreen gaming has come a long way and offers a wide variety of games ranging from simple to challenging. You can't dismiss touchscreen gaming as only being simple as its simply not.
I agree re: StarCraft and maybe with ps4s touchpad it would have been a winner. Diablo III, would rather have a new Torchlite.
