I doubt MS will put anything exclusively on Game pass, it's not like developers choose between making their games a free to play MT filled grind-fest or charging a flat, up front fee. They do both. The future is in our hands.

The inorganic growth is a cause for concern and I am not convinced that the "Reach billions of gamers" mantra makes any sense, which is what seems to have caused it.

If this unique something is in the vain of Sea thieves, count me out. I wish Rare all the best but they are dead to me.

This whole thing is blown out of proportion, Sony saw money on the table and decided to take it. Microsoft and Sony are not in the same position in regard to PC gaming. Microsoft cannot afford to tie their hands up in regard to PC gaming which is they have done for a long time.

PC gamers expect MS to be in it for the long haul and actually build up a competitive platform on PC. The integration of Windows and Xbox makes sense for MS and MS alone. Microsoft has a stake in th...

Sony has leaned more heavily on their American and European studios because have grown and produced some of most bankable games in the industry. It is not something Jim is responsible for. The author brought up a good point in that some of the quirky games that Japan Studios made are being made small and indie devs.

These days a team of 10 can make a solid game with a smaller scope that still sells millions of copies. The increasing frequency of such things has probably led...

I get it, Jim said you were special and that you were the only one, only for you to find out you are not. Heart rending stuff.

Developers do have to face this when developing for PC but the console space is the one place where this is not an issue so why introduce it? Most importantly developers making PC games can choose where to cut their cloth.

You know a whole 3 people who did not experience game breaking bugs. So that must mean everyone else that did is trying to tear the game down. If any other company put out a game as unfinished and broken Cyberpunk 2077 they would be finished. The reproduction rate for a issue can be below 100% so while it may not affect everyone it will affect someone.

I have encountered several game breaking bugs but even if the bugs were not such a big issue the actual game has hastily de...

Cdpr were the ones that set expectations.

CDPR tweeted the pre-order split was 59%-41% PC to console. Since the PC version is relatively more stable I doubt that ratio has shifted much if at all.

There must have been some serious mismanagement of the project. They did not have to reinvent the wheel when it came to the world simulation as they had games like watchdogs and GTA which manage it pretty well to draw from.

With so much reference and most importantly time there really is no excuse. The city is so well designed only to be let down by the wonky world simulation.

It's not a next gen game, it's just very poorly optimised. The game's initial release date was April 2020 so its safe to say this game was supposed to release on the PS4 and Xbox One way before the PS5 and X|S. CDPR have made a game far too ambitious for them to handle, bugs withstanding there are too many aspects of the game that feel undercooked.

The game has issues but it also has an open world unlike any this generation with characters that are detailed and expressive in ways not many open world games achieve. Having a high amount of polish usually gets a game over that 90 line but Cyberpunk is so engrossing some people just don't care that it is not very polished.

You raise a fair a point, CDPR flew a bit too close to the sun with this game and have been singed but luckily for them not burnt to a crisp as the...

Turing cards are underpowered and over priced. As with increasing the image resolution increasing the framerate is going to have diminishing returns whilst consuming a disproportionate amount of processing power. Also at 1080p even with maxed out settings you will probably be CPU bound in most games with a 2080. To get the best out of a GPU like a 2080 or above you will need to increase the resolution.

If my understanding is correct he is basically saying the hardware is not the issue. He seems to indicate getting more data off the drive is matter of how you organise the data. 2.5GB/s is peak sequential read and most current gen games from a data point of view are organised to maximise sequential read bandwidth for obvious reasons.

He says the way the to get most out of fast storage is by making tons of requests at once. This sounds like a 4k QD32 t16 test where random re...

Nothing wrong with the games growing up a bit. The problem with Gears 5 in my opinion is the story does not evolve past Kait wanting to find out about her Past. Her identity crisis is solved pretty trivially about half way through the game and so her character becomes a passenger to the plot which sees her going to stop the big bad. Her connection to the locust gives her headaches when it should affect her in a far more profound way.

In God of War for example, getting to th...
