I get the feeling you haven't actually played Uncharted 3, much less beaten it.
OT: I think it may boil down to Skyrim vs Batman vs Portal 2 vs Skyward Sword. Uncharted 3, while called a masterpiece by the majority of reviewers, has much more working against it than Uncharted 2 had. In the grand scheme, it won't matter (it'll outsell Uncharted 2 as well), but with some of those ridiculous reviews, stiffer competition, and not the groundbreaking element that made U...
"The entirely of Nate's tale looks absolutely incredible too. There's an astonishing range of locations to explore, with each absolutely dripping in masses of glorious created detail. Some of the lighting effects in particular could easily cause that jaw of yours to smack into the floor. There's never a hint of the quality dropping below the line of being pretty much the greatest looking console title ever created".
You've done this in two Uncharted 3 review articles now.
OT: Such high reviews. From most gamer accounts, the game deserves it!
Well, seems people are already have trouble accepting that. I agree with you though, some devs still need a better handle on the hardware.
Be interesting to see what game takes on Uncharted 3 for that top spot - The Last Guardian perhaps?
Fine and dandy, but the reviewers, majority of them, have agreed with it.
@ Disagree: Seems people have trouble facing facts. Fact: Most reviewers have called Uncharted 3 the best consoles have to offer (visually). A quick read through some would help out. Doesn't really matter much though, the game is much more than just the prettiest face on the block!
From the article ***MILD SPOILERS***
"Fears that the game would be mainly desert based are swept away early on. After an early London level (really, sewers again?) we find ourselves in a French forest which is where the jaw dropping starts. The detail and lighting in the jungle-like area of France is just incredible. It's as close to reality as we're going to get with this generation of consoles. Other impressive landscapes include a canyon that makes Red Dead lo...
I would disagree there too. The Gears franchise is synonymous with beautiful visuals. In fact, before the Uncharted series took over, Gears of War 1 set a bar that was the standard for quite sometime. Furthermore, Forzas 3 & 4 look fantastic, while Halo: Reach was a vast improvement over the 3.
These days, Forza 4 is the best looking racing title on the 360, next to PGR 4 in my view, and Gears of War 3 is the best looking title the console has ever pumped out (also in my ...
Such comments are truly sad, but then again, the bubbles reflect the attitude. Ironically enough, the statement is also quite false, going by Metacritic, as LBP 1/2, Killzone 2, MLB 10/11/12: The Show, God of War Collection, and The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection all beg to differ (90+ scoring titles).
OT: Hard work and dedication rewarded with praise! Congrats Naughty Dog!!
I've never seen any game, and I do mean ANY, called a masterpiece as many times as I've seen for Uncharted 3! Truly, truly game changing title!
From the article:
"It should be worth noting as well that Uncharted 3′s visuals outstrip Uncharted 2 and anything else seen on consoles today. The textures, shadows and lighting effects are simply amazing and the graphical detail is unmatched. In certain scenes the camera pans away to show you how massive some of the set pieces are ala God of War 3 style and you will be in awe".
I'm not playing the game, I have the Collector's Edition unopen...
Safe to say that any console games striving for the "best looking on console" title releasing after Uncharted 3 have their work cut out for them!
Not everyone will score it with a 4.5/5, 9.5/10, or 10/10. That said, it doesn't seem as if this reviewer's opinion is widely shared, and I have a feeling that when I get the game, I won't share it either.
Still, 4/5 (80) is not a bad score.
From the article:
"I need to cut to the chase once more: This is THE BEST looking game on a video game console to date. I had to lay that fact down firmly and quickly in attempt to avoid gushing like a crazed PS3 fanboy at how wonderfully perfect the textures are or how utterly precise the lighting reflects off of Chloe’s apple bottom. This is as close to perfect as I’ve seen a game get. The view of a lit European city at night, aged red cliffs stained from thousands of ...
So like IGN, they call it the "pinnacle of storytelling" and a "masterpiece"! Must be a true gem, a once in a lifetime gaming experience!
With all the bickering back and fourth, this game still has received best looking console game from many of it's 48+ reviews.
Plain and simple, on console, nothing looks better. Roll on Nov 1st!!
I wonder how many sites have called this the best looking console game? I've seen quite a bit, and this review was no exception!
I would actually love a Tomb Raider/Uncharted collaboration by Naughty Dog (Sony & Crystal Dynamics! The game could be split in different ways, with Drake's parts more action oriented and Lara's parts more puzzle-based.
Of course my idea is wishful thinking, but I think the chemistry between Lara and Drake (not too much though, I love me some Elena) could be one of the greatest things to enter the gaming world!
"To wrap things up, I think goes without saying that Uncharted 3 will go down as the best looking game of this generation by a long, blistering, and freezing Antarctic mile. Apart from another Naughty Dog title, I don't see anything getting close. I don't have to spell it out for you, you've seen the HD footage and the high-resolution screens. You've seen the glistening screens that show off those gorgeous landscapes, the textures on the wall, ground, objects and characte...
Now 94 on Meta with 31 reviews and this one hasn't been added yet!
L.A. NOIRE?? Highly unlikely.
