Sony launched the PS2 and didn't halt any production on games. They launched the PS3 and the PS2 continued to see it's share of games. That theory is flawed. Also, the talk of them "hoping" not to finish in last place is more of a personal opinion than a realistic business model.
OT: I'm think more like 24 months till we see a PS4. Holiday 2013 is my guess because I can't see them jumping out in 2012 without some kind of hint of such, from Sony, by ...

@ Pokemonownage: You not only make no sense (first part of your post is 100% contradictory), but completely screwed up what was said. No, I didn't say CoD sells better on PS3, and no, Call of Duty games on 360 do not outsell PS3 versions 19:8. Where did you pull that number from?
Call of Duty has never been a "massive" system seller on the 360, not even the bundles. It pushes a few more on week launches (then again, PS3 sales increase too). You'll never fully know since the numbers are inflated (include the holiday rush), but it's never massive from CoD bundles alone.
OT: While this bundle looks neat, the Gears of War one is the one I'm picking up!
Any price cut will increase sales. That's how business works. And if recent data is anything to go by, the PS3 just got a substantial increase across all three major regions, from just a $50 cut (in most regions - Australia it was a $150+ cut).
To conclude: yes the PS3 will outsell the 360 this holiday, but won't in the Americas.
Rathcet & Clank games are not sub-HD. I haven't played the beta of R3 myself, but after listening to what many think, I'm not inclined to take your word on it.

Since the restoration, I find more people in multi-player lobbies as well. If the hack incident did anything, it got even more people talking about Sony.

OT: Yes, Gears 3 is a beast, for whatever reason. It's about to rake in some major dough for Epic/Microsoft! Considering the beta, I'm more than stoked to play it (I'm picking up the Gears-themed console just for that purpose).
