Being 1 million ahead is not "pretty close" and the only place they are close IS in NA, where the 360 version barely leads. And despite what you think of VG Chartz's numbers, they are all there is to go on, and because of such, the PS3 version being over a million ahead WW is a big deal.
Regardless, I didn't defend either side, just that it doesn't seem to make the most sense.
Considering the PS3 version of RE5 sold considerably more than it's 360 counterpart, and during a time when the PS3 was still struggling a good deal, I'm not sure how this makes much sense. Then again, I'm not in their business, so I don't know all the inner workings.
I disagreed when you first said Nintendo has the best 1st party games (subjective regardless), but once you said "PS4 may not even come out", you completely lost me, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
OT: While I was initially excited for the Wii U before it was unveiled, if Nintendo can get some kind of controller that is able to work with most genres, I'll jump back on the bandwagon. I think they can hit all the right notes if they cater to all demographics. ...
Quantic Dream are said to only be making PS3 exclusives for right now (Wiki isn't always the best source for reference). They have two projects, although codenamed, in the works exclusively for PS3 (Fiv5 & Infraworld). Still irrelevant here though, because Insomniac never said they were done making Sony exclusives. They said they weren't making Resistance titles anymore.
As mentioned above: CGI = Computer Generated Imagery (also known as "CG"). Don't ask how I, myself, would know that :D
OT: While I'm fine with lessening CGIs in most games, a few here or there couldn't hurt next gen!
If you mean pre-rendered on the engine, you may be right. Then again, Wells showed in a video how the game was completely controllable through the PS3.
However, if you mean CG, you'd be 100% incorrect.
Character models are built from scratch and the engine has been revamped for the production (mainly lighting and environments). A little research can go a long way! :)
OT: While there aren't any new scans here, what IS there continues to look fantastic!
Why even mention The Last Of Us? Not confirmed for 2012, nor is it survival horror (or anything like RE6 will be, for that matter). XD
OT: I agree with his sentiments, although the way the article is written, it makes the idea seemed a bit jumbled. Nevertheless, I'm not a fan of this action-oriented era of Resident Evil we are in now, but as a fan of the series, I can't turn my back on it! Roll on Nov 20!
In fairness, Uncharted 3 retained most of what made the series so popular to begin with (with the multi-player being, understandably, tweaked to cater to a larger crowd). With RE, virtually all of that has been done away with in favor of an action-oriented approach. Don't get me wrong, I'm an RE fan till the end, but I'm not thrilled about Capcom's outlook here.
Innovation is surely at a minimum these days, which is why stuff like Heavy Rain is such a HUGE bre...
Quite frankly, I disagree. They should be just what they are, exclusive, as they help their brand. Everything can't, shouldn't, and (thankfully) won't be on every device.
PC has its exclusives, consoles have theirs.
You've done this in nearly every article involving Microsoft. It's getting old.
OT: Have had no issues myself, thankfully, but I'm sure if the problems persist, Microsoft will take the necessary action to remedy it. Maybe not at the speed that everyone would prefer, but it will be dealt with.
Not really. They make a good point, even if I personally think it's a tad extreme, but I wouldn't call it mean.
In David Cage's defense, he does things different from everyone. He should continue that regardless of what anyone says, especially if his future games receive the commercial and critical success of Heavy Rain.
^ ^ Shame that these nonsense posts above have to exist, but then again, I guess everyone's entitled to an opinion.
OT: They really are trying to craft something unique! I need more ND, bring it on!
Fantastic review, as I agree with pretty much everything! I'd even take a notch down for some of the light bleed that can occur if you aren't looking directly at the screen. Otherwise, I agree on sound & picture quality (although the size of the Display is just right for my room).
Lovely stealth edit. ;)
How?
I would comment, but the bubbles already tell this story. :D
OT: I cannot wait to know more! This team is known for brilliant, "out of nowhere" experiences and I'm sure they'll continue the trend! Another unique PS3 exclusive on the way!
@TronEOL: Nah, there weren't that big a differences between early trailers and final product in either Uncharted 2 nor 3. In fact, much of the final product looked a good deal better (especially game-play, which is really what counts).
With The Last Of Us being a Naughty Dog product, I know what to expect. Visually, it will probably win graphics awards for the company again and be something incredible to play!
Precisely. Many people don't really understand how these things work, but you nailed it!
In fact, just looking at the cut-scene, the visuals are already a head above Uncharted 3, and with a proposed late 2012 9even early 2013) release date, there's more than enough time to make it look better than the Dec 10 trailer.
Good Lord! And this is ALL pre-alpha! Remember, Naughty Dog ALWAYS wins best graphics awards with each of their releases. This will probably be no exception!
