Glad to see everyone liked it! It's my favorite game of all time, so it's always nice to hear good things from other people!
Er, I didn't say ALL Japanese games, I said Japanese games, but I'm guessing you knew that and decided to ignore it just to argue semantics to appear to be right.
Since you're out of bubbles, you obviously can't respond, but from the few games you mentioned, I can name others that haven't outsold their predecessors, nor received the same critical success.
Very few PS3 games were announced 3 years early, but I agree there's no need to announce games too far from release this late in the gen.
It really isn't a matter of whether Japanese games sell as well as their Western counterparts, Japanese franchises, in the West, aren't selling as well as they used to, against themselves (hence why I said they DON'T do as well as Western games, not "didn't").
It's possible that they could announce it at either GDC 2012 or E3 and have it ready for Feb/Mar 2013 (my guess would be March, since God of War games launch during that month).
One issue I see right now is The Last Of Us. Will they release it this holiday (I doubt it), or release it in Feb with God of War IV for March (like Heavy Rain in Feb 2010 and God of War III in March 2010). With that, The Last Guardian, something from David Cage, and maybe Versus XIII in 2013, the...
Compared to Western games, in the West, Japanese games don't do as well (with exceptions like Final Fantasy and Resident Evil - which always had a strong Western appeal anyway). What you've bought isn't even a fraction of the bigger picture.
OT: I 100% agree. Japanese games just feel a little different, which started last gen. I understand there's money in it, but some franchises have suffered for it. With where the market seems to be headed, I don't see t...
Indeed. People ask for everything to be on everything, they don't realize that it's the worst thing for consoles. Each needs an identity and you can't do that with multi-platform titles.
Resistance is owned by Sony, so no it will never be multi-platform. As for Alan Wake, it doesn't need to be multi-platform, every game doesn't need to be (and thankfully aren't) on every system.
A useful feature is hardly a gimmick. Two players on one screen is not a negative and certainly not a "gimmick". I see such a word used too wildly these days.
OT: As an owner of two of Sony's Displays, I'm curious to see what Philips pulls off. No, it won't be JUST like the PlayStation 3D Display, but I'm sure it will another take on long a requested feature.
I like the look of the 360 version better (although some think it looks sharper, if you look closely, the sharpness is pretty identical - and PS3's shadows sometimes look a touch smoother). End of the day, performance/features will decide this one and with Mass Effect 2 performing better on 360 (and ME3 having Kinect voice command), I'm going with the 360 for Mass Effect 3.
@ GameSectorNet: The only PS3 exclusives that didn't sell a million last year were SOCOM and Motorstorm. That's not really a "fair" amount of PS3 titles, considering how many came out last year (not to mention, Alan Wake didn't sell 1 million units in it's first year). So let's not talk nonsense.
OT: I'm happy that Wake will have an Xbox identity, because too many games are spread on to too many devices these days.
Indeed, but don't say that too loud, some may get offended! XD
In all seriousness, the Vita, like every other device that receives pre-release doom article after another, will be fine.
When was it ever a girl?
Doubt it, what substantial losses would they acquire from one of Sony's most anticipated exclusives in years?
Then wait for release day. Did you even read the article, it's not even close to cancellation.
Um how?
No, it's not open world. Just more open than Uncharted.
The only thing that ND said was "doctored" was a bit of the aliasing. Other than that, the fidelity you're getting from the visuals is what it will look like.
Just pre-ordered this on Amazon. Pretty excited for it!
We already have - twice.
OT: Fine by me, I'd like to see the single player as robust as possible.
