Phil's obviously got some spanking to dish out :)
Wait, what? After Mr Spencer's statement? Did these scalawags even run this by Phil first? Tsk, tsk.
Well, in my experience, VR only works in the way it was intended in first person perspective. I tried a third person game in VR and I didn't feel there was much point to it. You're just an onlooker.
So I agree with you about Last of Us but I'd absolutely love to walk, shoot and drive through Nightcity :)
You're spot on with the "Their 'shorter' is a lot longer than most companies!". Even more than you know :)

The funny thing is, I think its most likely gonna be closer to 80-90, including all sidequests. So that's much longer than most games anyway.
Yeah, these people saying no one replays games are off their trolley. Like you said, why does New Game+ exist?
Also what about those sayings like, 'When you mention Deus Ex, someone, somewhere, will re-install it'.
And what about all the playthroughs people do for Mass Effect? Just to have characters that make different moral choices. Then you have games like the new Deus Ex's, where people do one playthrough guns-blazing and then a total s...
In fairness, the game will almost certainly be far longer than most games out there. W3 was around 50 hour main campaign and this one is only 'slightly' shorter. So lets say it 30-40 hours. That's already longer than most games on its own.
Then they said there'll be almost as many side quests. So W3 was 130-150 hours and this game could well be 100+. Not sure that means they've 'sold out'.
As for replayability, well, that...
I wouldn't worry about it, from what I've read on the forums it's the main campaign that isn't quite as long but, just like W3, there are loads of sides quests.
W3, depending on difficulty, was 40-50 hours main campaign with another 80-100 hours of side quests. My first playthrough was 135 hours, 180 with expansions.
So as an educated guess for CP2077, the main campaign will be around 30-40 and then with all side quests it could easily be...
Good point. Getting PC based VR to work with Xbox can't be that hard.
Yeah, I think his 'isolationist' comment shows what he thinks of single player games. He's simply not interested in VR because it's not as profitable as Games as a Service.
I like to think of it as more a case of VR being another form of gaming, rather than a replacement for existing formats. I think it's got incredible potential but it's gonna be a long while before it's established.
I think you're spot on.
MS will let others do the hard work and then sweep in to get a slice of the money-cake once it's established. To be honest, I wish he'd just say so. At least then he'd seem like a cautious business man rather than a 'bah-humbug' kinda gamer.
I think you're focusing too much on Sony rather than the tech itself.
VR is unlike any other type of gaming experience before it. Forget all that motion controller nonsense and the WiiFit. They were the gimmicks.
As VR gets cheaper and more refined, it'll get a larger user-base. As that happens, more devs will see a chance to profit and make more games. Some of those games will be great, leading to more headset sales (on all platforms) and t...
Agreed.
I like the guy but I think what Phil said is code for, 'We can't make a ton of cash with VR yet, so we'll let others do the heavy lifting and then swoop in and claim our stake of the cash when it's safe'.
Safe business sense but it doesn't really help innovation or push the hobby forward.
I like Phil but what I'm hearing here is:
'We can't see a way to make a ton of cash at the moment so we'll let others do the heavy lifting and when VR has a large install base we'll swoop in and try to rake in the cash'.
I'd rather he just say so than come up with nonsense like, 'It's isolating'. All single player games are isolating. Is he saying they're not worthwhile too?
Also, I think &...
Well finally, after several delays, it's gonna release. Can't wait to see what Gollop has in store and whether he still has the magic touch :)
They might always stay bigger than Ninty, but they'll also always be more cynical, less trusted and less fun ;)
Yeah, you're right. Demon's Souls was the original so, technically, that's the game that would be the influence in creating the Souls-likes.
Legends and Lore.....one of my fav 2nd edition AD&D books :)
Ok, so there are actually two Phil Spencers it seems. Identical twins maybe?
One is the obligatory 'evil twin' who pops out to say people don't want VR, they want multi-player, microtransaction based GaaS games and the other ones likes to come forward and say VR can be amazing. Got it ;)
