Well, I bet CDPR are glad they got more for their money then ;)

You're right, this is a bit of an apple and oranges comparison he's making here.

I love horror games and the P.T demo, so I'm definitely disappointed Kojima never made something of it all, regardless of how good DS may be.

Loving the return to grim and gothic.

I have to say though, the female barbarian in the CGI is ridiculous :) She must have discovered, in the magical world of Sanctuary, a Smaug sized hoard of 'roids :s Unless she's some kind of half-orc.

Thank god she looks different in the actual gameplay footage, hehe.

Heh, the jokes on the reviewer if he hated it that much, seeing as though he played 40 hours of a game that can be completed in 30.

If he was more competent he could have finished it, written the review and still had time to go watch a movie and get a meal afterwards :) Instead, he tortured himself for another 10 hours and didn't get any of it done ;)

Yeah, but that's quite strange seeing as though it only takes 30 hours to complete if you're not a completionist.

If he hated it that much, why was he playing roughly 10 more hours than he needed to just to do extra tasks? It's a bit suspicious, imo.

Yeah, I thought they couldn't get more pseudo-intellectual, contrary and, like you said, pretentious. Yet they somehow managed....

I stopped taking Edge seriously around 2000 but it still amazes how much of a bunch of d&*ks they are.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that out of all the games they manage to finish, despite them being crap, this is the game they draw the line at. A game that's been so anticipated, that everyone knew would be controversial.

It smacks of being planned all along, imo, just to create controversy and get attention.

Besides, the game takes around 30 hours to complete, 50 if you try to do everything, apparently. So why was he still playing roughly 10 hour...

Ooooo, Edge magazine....you're soooo, so....edgy! I wish I could be as cool as you guys. /s

Dicks.

But then they've always been that way. Pretentious, contrary, arrogant - they seemingly live to suck the joy out of gaming like a bunch of anally retentive, hand wringing plonkers. I think they need prune juice or something.

Also, talk about a lack of professionalism. If that reviewer refuses to play it then isn't he ju...

Always nice to see a gaming article that isn't clickbait-y and trying to get people angry just for hits.

Some great games on this list, if I had to pick one to produce, it'd be Dead Space for typical horror/gore or SOMA if I wanted something more chilling and thoughtful :)

My first choice would still be Bioshock though and I think it could qualify as horror depending on how it was done.

Yeah. I'm looking to mod fast travel, have my weapon choices remembered, faster/group looting and be able to jog anywhere for starters, maybe even some UI tweaks.

I'm sure modders will come up with lots of other little improvements pretty quickly.

The problem with the combat and progression stemmed from the same source; difficulty. It had to be played on Death March, or possibly the second to last difficulty, or else all you needed to do was button mash. Therefore combat would be dull and levelling and abilities would be redundant.

Even then, it wouldn't have been for everyone. It aimed to be somewhat like a faster Dark Souls but was never going to feel as good as that.

I'd give the co...

Well, it's all subjective so no game is ever going to be the best ever, objectively speaking.

Last time I read about this kind of thing, it had 251 GotY awards, the most in history, with The Last of Us on 249. Of course, that doesn't mean everyone has to think they're the best things ever or, indeed, even like them at all ;)

2289d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Don't know why you got downvotes.

Last I checked, it literally had more GotY awards than any other game in history, with a total of 251.

If that doesn't mean it qualifies as a 'great game', in the general consensus of things, then it therefore follows that no game has ever been great :s

Agreed.

I've played many great games since around 1982 but, before Witcher 3 was released in 2015, my top 3 GoaTs hadn't changed in 16 years or so. Up to that point it was Deus Ex (2000), System Shock 2 and Baldur's Gate 2, with many nipping at their heels.

Witcher 3 went straight into that top trio with ease and with the expansions it's probably joint 1st.

Well, the characters and lore will mean much more to you if you play the first two but the first one will be a rough experience, especially after all this time, for most players. Besides, you'll get enough background stuff as you should need by starting with 2.

Still, I'd simply suggest you just go straight into number 3. Just make sure you play on at least the second to last difficulty and then maybe switch to Death March at around level 18-20 as it does get easi...

Haha, nice one.

I particularly like the claim that Ocarina is the best game of all time and yet somehow not the best Zelda.

Trash site and trashy, clickbait 'journalism'.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you clickbait at its finest.....or should that be worst?

Impossible? Not for me it isn't, I assume it's not impossible for many others too. Why act like the developers and publishers have complete control of our expectations, like we're all just puppets on a string?

It's their job to make us as excited as possible and it's our job to take it with a pinch of salt. Same thing for any commercial or promotion.

Check out reviews or, if you really trust Kojima and want to go in blind, just have...

Expected by the reasonable folks yes, but so many on this site and others were outraged at the suggestion or simply went around ridiculing people who felt it would have a PC release.

Not sure why they were so adamant it was a Sony exclusive as Kojima did say it would come out on PC at some point and, afaik, its original conception was prior to partnering with Sony for development but I could be mistaken.

Besides, Kojima just left a company that was appare...
