I think that's kinda what the Stalker series was aiming for and I loved those games. So yeah, I think a similar style of game could walk in the world of Fallout too, with perhaps even a stronger emphasise on survival horror.
This will be a difficult game to pull off to any exceptional degree, imho, but I do hope they succeed. Loved Jaws as a child :)
I'm not sure 'evil' or 'bad guy' is the right way of describing it. It was called Renegade for a reason.
It was more of a ruthless, harsh and rebellious Shepard, rather than an 'evil/bad guy' one. And I played that version plenty of times ;)
Thanks for the tip. I was just thinking how much I hate these 'let's pit gamers against each other' articles.
This article could be just as much of an interesting conversation starter with the title, 'FromSoft is one of the most important studios last decade.', but oh no, that would be too reasonable.
Stop being so reasonable, factual and fair. How are people going to get angry at each other without hyperbolic article titles such as this one? :)
Unfortunately, although gaming sites like to act superior and look down on fano-boys, they do everything they can to make provocative articles to set people on each other to get clicks and comments.
Yeah, I don't know why people keep banging on about DS2. They neglect the more well-rounded perspective that, like you said, it's a fantastic game in its own right, even if most people preferred the other two more. FromSoft didn't make a mess of it or anything even close.
It's like saying the guy in 3rd place at the World's Strongest Man is the 'weakest' on the winners podium. So? They're still mightily impressive and achieved a great dea...
Jesus. These click-bait, 'let's get people angry' articles have been around for years and, sadly, they're here to stay it seems. Can't they just sod off?
What would be wrong about the title simply being, 'FromSoftware was one of the most important studios of the last decade'?
Gaming sites waffle on about how they look down on fan-boys and console wars but do everything they can to get people at each others throats. As if peo...
What I wonder is that if some folks truly believe a silly, exaggerated caricature made for comedy purposes is homophobic, yet it's not being removed from the Asian version, then do they think our Japanese friends are a bunch of nasty, hate-filled people?
If not, then why can't we be in on the joke too?
Yeah, given the popularity of the games and that (imho) it was nice to have a strong visual contrast between Yen and Triss, I was disappointed that they stuck to the book versions in this instance. Once you play over 500+ hours over 3 Witcher games with redhead Triss, you just can't go back ;)
I wonder if EA are thinking, 'What do we need to do to give Mass Effect and Dragon Age the Netflix treatment?!'.
You know, I'm excited for CP2077 as much as the next guy but I'm starting to wonder whether this amount of hype is healthy for the game's reception.
I'm a realist about this kind of thing but I have to ask myself how many people are building their expectations to a degree where they simply are never going to be satisfied with the final product.
So true :) Back then, D1 wasn't on my radar at all until, quite awhile after release, someone told me about the Zelda-esque dungeons. Up 'til that point I thought it was a linear hack n' slash.
I wonder if it was my fault for not paying attention to gaming news or their fault for poor advertising?
Oh, and I disagree with the article, I'd put D1 top. Honorable mention to Jesper Kyd for the soundtrack on D2 though.
I did like the moral grey areas of the original, although some of the bandits were so hateful and psychotic I didn't buy into any of the 'they're just trying to survive so I can kinda understand what they're doing' bullshit.
Still, in the end, someone trying to kill you in a game ends up translating to the same gameplay cycle, regardless of their motive, and I'm the sort of player that just concentrates on that. All thoughts of, 'Oh, but these g...
Hah, yeah, putting it that way almost makes the writer sound like some kind of monster.
As in, 'What I want are human enemies that are more sympathetic and believable...only then can I enjoy killing them.'
Agree with Tim 100%.
You can broach political subjects within the story of games but don't use it as a platform to preach and vilify those with different views. Oh, and like the man said keep it out of marketing too.
We all figured as much but it's nice to hear from the horse's mouth.
I have to say though, 'teams were pushed to create games based on market research' sounds so sterile and creatively soulless that EA (and others) deserve all the anger that goes their way.
Yeah, Geoff said something about E3 needing to be more than a floor show, more digital, and you mention other means of seeing developers conferences such as youtube.
I mention this because, for me, E3 is about waiting until a presentation is finished (Sony, Microsoft, whoever it is) and then watching it at my own pace on youtube, being able to easily skip forward and back as I choose.
Judging by the way people are voting, it's a big deal to them too, they must love the guy.
Personally, I hardly ever watch him. Not because I have anything against him. How could I since I don't know much about him?
The thing is, for me, E3 is about going on youtube and looking at the specific conferences from different devs and publishers after they've been done. Many others must do too. Maybe that's why Geoff himself feels E3 isn'...
Oh, that's cool. I was going to say it would unbalance things too much, even though I too hated the way headshots were so weak. Perhaps zombies should move ever so slightly faster too?
Anyway, I hope they change this aspect for RE3. I'm not saying I really need one-shot kills but sometimes they'd take 4-5 to the head before dropping, which I found ridiculous. 1 or 2 shots to the head seems fine to me.
Also, I'd like them to change the ...
Yep, great games :) Good on you for trying to get folks to play them.
