@Haytee at least Sony have shown games running on a PS5. Don't you think it's a bit strange that MS haven't shown any games running on a series X yet? Even people who have gone hands on with Series X are only allowed to talk about backwards compatibility. I think that's far more worrying.

And what kind of frame rate will GT7 get on PC? 0fps

1937d ago 7 agree1 disagreeView comment

@darthv72 Thats not true. They both have totally different development tools etc

@lennoxb63 I only buy a console for its exclusives. As does everyone I know. All we talk about is Sony exclusives.

@lordofthecritics But it isn't a PC replacement. I bought a PC to work on too. Photoshop, 3DS Max etc. I'd never buy an Xbox to replace my PC. I can kinda see a PC gamer, maybe choosing it as a value alternative, but I think on the whole, this argument is massively overstated. All of my friends are PC gamers and annecdotal evidence suggests none of them are even thinking of buying an Xbox. As far as I see it, you buy a series x if you don't mind missing out on PS exclusives and yo...

In engine doesn't even mean it's running totally real time. It just means the engine was used to render it. Hate this whole "in engine" nonsense. It's meaningless

You can see him reflected in Windows in the trailer if you look closely and also in the shattered glass at the start of the trailer

If you watch the trailer again you can see everything reflected in the shattered glass. Not just reflecting, but also refracting. You can also see miles's reflection in the windows

This game has such great potential to show off the benefits of raytracing. All those windows! Seeing your reflection in everything will really ground the character in the world. Playing the original, I always used to think it would be a great showcase for raytracing.

Raytracing is a decades old industry standard term. Now imagine Microsoft started talking about the series x new "Photon Bounce" technology. That's how silly and unhelpful their marketing slogans are. They're hoping their Jargon will equate to a list of features which seem exotic but are entirely standard. Smart delivery is completely down to the publisher. Games which come with a free next gen upgrade are also present on PS4, it's just that Sony didn't need to inven...

I have a high end gaming pc and I know the benefits of high frame rates. However, when I don't necessarily need twitch reflexes or when playing sports titles or first person shooters, I'm fine with Devs sticking to 30fps. Sometimes I like seeing how great a game can look if they use that power differently. Often a game running at 60fps with inconsistent frame rates can look way worse than games with a locked 30 as juddering can ruin the experience. I find it hilarious that you think I...

I'm fine with 30fps. Sometimes it legitimately does make things look more cinematic. Movies in a high frame rate look awful. I'll be getting a PS5, and I welcome developers making games 30fps and pushing all that horsepower into making games look as pretty as possible when they decide that's best. I just think it's strange that when there were stories about some PS5 games running at 30fps, there were loads of people on here saying "OMG PS5 can't even do 4k 60fps!!!&qu...

I still don't understand how people keep asking things like, "can it do 4k 60fps?" like that's an actual feature of a console, rather than something dictated by the game/developers. It baffles me.

But what about what Mark Cerny said regarding compressed giving the PS5 SSD a theoretical throughput of 20GB/s. In that case, isn't it still 2.5x faster even with this tech. Comparing this speed to the base speed of the PS5 without any any Sony trickery surely isn't entirely fair

I think there's enough incredibly positive reviews out there for you not to worry about its' quality. 40/40 from Famitsu and many more 9s and 10s. A handful of low reviews says to me that it either grabs people or it doesn't. Seemingly no in between

There's no reason why not. At 4k, it only needs to render a polygon per pixel. That's 8.7 million. Even if the models in the scene have billions of polys. It's the way the engine streams and adapts the data which makes it so impressive

2014d ago 7 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's because the engine scales geometry so well. It can render a triangle per pixel. Anything below that size is unnecessary as it can't be seen. So even at 4k, the engine will only ever be rendering a maximum of 8.7 million polys. Even if there are 10 billion polys in the scene. It's simple but groundbreaking and why that SSD is fundamental.

I'm talking about inflation rates. Don't know why you think I'm buying bullshit?

2020d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

I remember asking my parent for R-Type on the master system in 1987. That cost £30, as did most games. Adjusted for inflation, that equals £72 in today's money. Why do people think gaming should be inflation proof? When games have started to cost 100s of millions pounds and years to develop. I disagree totally with micro-transactions, but I think we need to be realistic
