No, that top 100 games thing was just a reference by Cerny to the fact that at the time of the GDC virtually all the top 100 were perfectly playable and had been thoroughly checked. Sony since clarified that there were thousands of working titles, it's just a long process to go through and check that all titles we're working as expected.
I applaud Microsoft's commitment to its consumers. As a PlayStation and PC gamer, I really have benefitted from their more open approach. However, what the article says is largely true. Third party developers will release nearly all games cross gen. Microsoft are releasing all first party games cross gen, for maybe the first year. There's no getting around the fact that when the PS5 releases, it will be the only platform to have games developed exclusively to utilise the extra power. ...
Just because an engine is for all platforms, doesn't mean the game made will run on any platform. Why don't people understand this? That's like saying gears 5 will run on switch
@djstotty There is absolutely a way that not having a fast enough SSD would be cause for a game not to be able to run. This technology fundamentally relies on that level of data streaming. The gemetry is rendered at a per pixel level. At 4k that is potentially approx 9m triangles streaming in and out every frame as the camera shifts. It's pretty much what Cerny alluded to during his deep dive. If there is no way to steam in that data fast enough, then the whole thing falls over. I'm n...
Wasn't the PS5 logo the most liked gaming image ever on Twitter or something? Just the reveal of a boring logo. The anticipation for PS5 info, dwarfs whatever ms is putting out there.
I didn't read that in the interview. Not saying you're wrong. I read that features that they're showing will be available on XsX and pc. And even so, there may be a difference the the density etc, across platform. I don't know if XsX would run this the same or better or worse. But I do know that we've seen it on PS5 now, so that at least is a know quantity
You do know that running a tech demo in real time, fully interactive, is the same as a game don't you? If epic released this tech demo and said it was game and charged five dollars to be able to download a play it, then it would be a game. That's the only distinction here. The problem is, too many of you have heard the words tech demo before and seen them running on sli 2080 titans and it's been totally unrealistic. This IS running in real time and it IS running on a PS5. Also, if...
People complain that raytraced graphics don't offer too much of an upgrade, which is ignoring all the effort it took that team of artists to try and fake that look. Fully path traced games will not only lead to better graphics, but also free up a developer to construct a scene and let the technology do the rest. Eventually fully path traced games will be the norm and won't require the massive resource overheads. It'll all be worth it further down the road
Same for me, but to be fair to Microsoft, that is their plan. Whereas before I was paying them nothing, I'm now paying them £8 a month. It's incredible value and an excellent service.
Theres a fundamental misunderstanding when it comes to the significance of this SSD. Lots of people online seem to be saying that an nvme m.2 drive makes minimal difference to pc gaming. You have to remember, when it comes to pc gaming and even the series x, the SSD is just a location for storing data and very little surrounding that technology has changed. Sony even demonstrated, if you simply took a drive 100x faster than which is available in the PS4 and placed it in a PS4, the difference ...
Look at the reflections in everything including the gun itself and even the enemies. All the light sources give off actual light which cast shadows etc. Not to mention the increase in contrast and depth.
The uncanny valley is when something looks almost completely real, but because it isn't real, it is unsettling. It doesn't just mean, something looks real, otherwise people would just say, it looks real.
Hardly anybody is talking about that gpu clock speed either. It's insane
If you take the Xbox one out of the equation, then it's only 5%
They are in the position to celebrate both
I must be one of the few people who actually finds the simplicity of the epic store a bit refreshing. I used my £10 voucher to get Untitled Goose Game for £5.99, and it's not even available via steam yet. As long as the developers are being supported and their games are finding an audience, that should surely be the only thing that matters.
The developer said its rendered in real time using ps5 hardware
I don't think it's just in engine. From the interview with the developer, its rendered in real time on a ps5. In engine can mean it's rendered using the engine but on much more powerful hardware. Rendered in real time on console is more impressive
I can't think of any other PS5 gameplay we've seen? Which ones look MILES Bette than this?
I don't think it's been overlooked at all. However, it's important to remember that many of the things us gamers care about, no matter which platform you choose, just aren't as important to the wider public. The general public will go with brand recognition, where their friends are playing, price, and perhaps the fact that they can play their current games is a nice bonus. The idea that the wider, less informed public are clamouring for PS Now and gamepass and to a lesser exte...
