I defend the 3DS a lot - the handheld has a lot of potential - but even I think this is madness.
Nintendo seem to be bending over backwards to try and get third party support for the 3DS and its harming their brand.
Interesting.
Mach Rider isn't a new IP as such though. It was a NES game.

First thought: Aaaagh! Nintendo! What the hell are you smoking? That looks ugly! How the hell can I play that on the train? The 3DS is doomed!
Second thought: Hang on, the scan makes it look like it is part of a bundle with Monster Hunter Tri G. It may even be designed by Capcom.
Third thought: So if its included with Monster Hunter Tri, it won't be required for every game - no need for a 3DS redesign. Most games for the 3DS won't need this. The few g...
Still not convinced about the extra slide pad. I still can't see how it could possibly attach.
But I really hope Monster Hunter is true.
Why are people so shocked?
Dragon Quest X had been announced as a Wii exclusive for years. The fact that the game turns out to be a Wii exclusive should surprise no-one.
The game wasn't free in Japan, though.
This game could be like Monster Hunter Tri.
Japanese gamers had to pay to play that, but it was free once the game arrived over here.

If Sony had already patented and developed similar technology first, why would they find the Wii U surprising and want to try to recreate it?
This article says that the Wii U has been in development for three years.

We're in 2011 now. Three years ago = 2008, predating Sony's patent by one whole year.
As the pre-TGS show is called "Nintendo 3DS Conference", its pretty unlikely we'll get any info on the Wii U.

Note, if you read the article, they also accept old PSPs....
Nintendo's big mistake was holding back their main titles to let the third parties develop for the system. But it is a great console, it just needs great games.
Sigh. Yet again a third party uses the Nintendo 3DS console to do a rushed game.
I'm convinced they won't.
Judging by that name, there won't be any Wii or Wii U news.
I can understand Mario as he appears in lots of different tiles, but I've never understood why people think Zelda is overused.
Skyward Sword is the second Zelda game for the Wii in 5 years. Hardly overused.
I'm sick of the term "Core".
It was only invented by players / games developers to try and make what used to be seen as a geeky hobby somehow "cool".
Whatever type of game you play, you're still using a controller to move a bunch of pixels on screen.
Would love to know the name of the other Zelda game already released on the Wii. There must be one, otherwise there wouldn't be 2 disagrees.
Hardcore doesn't mean a game with bad language or gore. It means the opposite of casual "pick up and play". Wii Sports is a casual game, so a core game is something that takes time and dedication to complete.
So, Zelda is a core game, as is Super Mario Galaxy (There's no way a casual player would have the time or dedication to amass 200 stars.)
Probably. I'd actually prefer it if it was a Capcom designed controller.
They've sucked with the 3DS.
Releasing Resident Evil: Mercenaries without the ability to delete your save file, cancelling Megaman Legends, and now this.
