This should give everyone food for thought about PS3+Vita being able to replicate the Wii U.
Get a screen protector - problem solved.
I really don't see the problem with the console design. It's almost exactly the same size as my DS Lite.
Super Monkey Ball was a terrible game anyway, so a bad example. The million+ sales of Zelda show people are willing to pay for quality content.
I hate to say it, but the Hardcore are the elite minority at the moment. Look at the worldwide top 10 on VGCHARTZ. Hardly a hardcore game on there and 7 of the titles on it are Nintendo games.
Sony copying another Nintendo idea. Some things never change.
The trouble is, today's good graphics are tomorrow's "meh".
Gameplay is timeless.
Gameplay.
I don't care how good a game looks - if it's crap, I won't play it.
Security =
We don't want Sony to steal our idea before the Vita comes out.
As I've said before, even if the Vita and PS3 could do everything the Wii U could do, you would still have to buy 2 systems and possibly 2 games to get the same functionality as 1 system and 1 game.
Also, developers are lazy. Not everyone that owns a PS3 has a Vita, so they won't waste time including features that only half their audience will enjoy. Everyone that buys the Wii U will have the controller, so that can be taken into account.
Compare the ...
So far, the price around the world seems to be "Exactly the same as the DSiXL".
Simple. Just do a Wii U Ambassador scheme.
Every Wii U bought in the first month will have an amazing, new exclusive game that future Wii Us won't.
Nintendo are getting slightly better with this. You can now transfer your DSiware games to the 3DS, for example.
They're not going to abandon a new console after all that research and development they put into it. The original DS had a shaky start too. They mentioned four months because that's the date of the next financial review.
You can use it for longer than 20 mins.
I play mine in full 3d, slider up to max, for extended periods - sometimes longer than 2 hours.
The Wii kept telling people take a break every 30 minutes too. Most ignored it.
The World Ends With You 2?
It is worth remembering that if you compare the 3DS with the original DS at the same point in its lifecycle, the 3DS has vastly outsold it.
It has already sold 4 million with no price cut and two of its games are million-sellers (Zelda and Street Fighter) - indicating that in a world of iPhones, people are still willing to pay for quality games.
Things are worse than Nintendo expected, but they are not as bleak as many point out.
Do you know what else was reduced in price almost immediately after launch? The iPhone.
That wasn't a failure. In fact, people are now saying that games like Angry Birds are handheld consoles' biggest competition and the reason for the 3DS's apparent lack of success. Funny that.
Nope.
It's just one reason why the 3DS isn't just a 3D DS.
Also, it's hard to remember now, but the orginal DS didn't exactly set the world alight when it was first launched.
5 years later - 140 million DSs sold.
We have to have bad games otherwise we wouldn't appreciate the good...
