Keep emphasizing without ps3 blu-ray will be nothing, which is true.... but if you look at the flipside, we can say the same for hd-dvd.
Without the a2's and a3's all made by toshiba hd-dvd will be nothing.
The difference is blu-ray has more companies selling the stand alone players for those who have more disposible income. Its a freedom of choice.... What if someone really likes hd-dvd but does not like thosiba what do they have...
How much for the expansion, and can you buy it as a physical disc... I dont care if it even comes out on dvd, I prefer buying physical media.
halo 3 ahem getting almost perfect score when it was far from a perfect game.
8.0 score because it plays the same as the older versions plus it only uses 1 disc.

The fact is
1) Internet is not fast enought to download/stream 1080p content yet to make it convenient
2) Diginal download is a format in itself, there is no standard between services
3) A great part of the movie industry is buying physical media for gifts and share with others.... just take the music industry ... though it has lost alot of money due to mp3's.... the music stuidos are still making a crap load from cd's.... and...
Ps3 has made me buy more blu-rays more frequently than dvd's, its that big of a difference if you have the right display and sound system.
Yes ps3 is a game machine at the core but one can't help to see that the console market is migrating towards an all inclusive entertainment unit. Kindov how the pc market changed office productivity > office productivity + gaming > office productivity + gaming+ htpc.

Im sorry but this statement just proves they are being more formal and proffesional. These are strong words coming from Sony, if what they say is true this will bring confidence to their shareholders.
It was difficult enough to make ppl buy hd-dvd players at 250 dollars.
When it reached $200 it was still difficult.
Bare in mind the 100 dollar firesale was ONLY temporary.
But more importantly how can you expect a demographic found from hd-dvd to purchase these expensive discs. Seriously im a blu-ray shopper but I cringe when I see a disc cost around 30 dollars and up, and this is the average for hd-dvd discs. On the blu side they average from 25 dollars...
Lack of choice of players.
The dvd players is almost movie onto 2 years old. Back then hd-dvd was just new and the stand alones were way to expensive.
The worst case scenario is that blu-ray coexists with hd-dvd.
But I doubt that would even happen, blu-ray dominating outside of North America and t here are no signs that hd-dvd can come back big in these markets.
Notice that all the special deals only occur in North America...... because this is the only place to capitalize on hd-dvd, and guess what it is still losing to BD.

I have the trilogy on dvd, and I also have the trilogy on BD
There is a huge difference between the 3 in color and sharpness.
Oh and even on my 300 dollar 1.5 year old upconverting DVD player (outputing via hdmi) and it still does not come close to the BD version
There should be a lawsuit at least against the company that manufactures the DVD roms.
What I dont understand is Ive gone through MANY different branded cd/drives and not once Have I experience a scratched disc. It boggles me cuz, the xbox is tray loading,
You would expect the ps3 to have scratched disc problem since its slot loading hence more potentialy of scratches. But I have not heard any problems about scratching.... maybe cuz it is the blu-ray protective coating...
But its a different demographic.
North American Culture is more into aggresive foward commercials.
Ps3 is a cheap priced blu-ray player but it is a very good one.
And NO they will never give out 10 games cuz they will lose way too much revenue.
Im quite sure the free blu-rays are in conjunction with the companies in the BDA, meaning more money to give out these awesome deals.
Oh and it is a very worthy gaming machine also vs the xbox... what does xbox have as a mainstream EXClusive game..... Halo... nothing else

I proved myself right when i compared my ps3 version with the pc version.
Fact is most console games xbox or ps3 ( they are upconverted) it dont matter if it display 1080i on the monitor
Its like saying upconverted dvd's are true 1080i/p
The differece is ps3 offers more out of the box and it has newer tech.
1) blu-ray
2) internet browser
3) hdmi
4) smart media to share photos with your family
etc
Although xbox has "copied" many of the things for ps3, the ps3 offers more straight out of the box in all their sku's
