It happens to every electronic on the market.
Prices are really expensive at the beginning not only to compensate on costs for r&d, but CE companys want to make some nice profit for what they created.
Seriously Toshiba was caught up in a catch 22..... lower the cost to increase user base.... but this would scare of CE companies from making hd-dvd players (lack of profit).
In the end this move scared me as a consumer because the toshiba player...
I had a friend, who I can honestly say is an xbot in person.... he would constantly send me bad news about ps3 and good news for xbox via cell phone text message, yet never state his arguments by word. Just because I owned a ps3..... I believe he thought it was a diversion tactic to make me join the xbox clan........ little did he know I am a pc gamer who cares about reliable hardware ( I do my research unlike some others......)
Neways I still remember when Paramount joined HD...
And a Salesperson who said straight out hd-dvd is a better format I prefer it because it is cheaper in price, hence better than blu-ray.
The customer then pointed at a display with casino royale playing.... is that hd-dvd . Response nooo but you can get an hd-dvd player and get the dvd version and upconvert it.... it looks just as nice.
Then he would go on saying wait and see hd-dvd will be the smart choice and they will prevail in the coming months.
Im gonna start saving up money for a nice bd player.
Seriously all the xbots are quiet.....
And its not helping when there is REal stats showing that ps3 did better on its first year with fierce competion including their ps2 than the 360.
This war is ending faster than betamax vs vhs.
Where are the xbot trolls now.... I think they just got slapped by the blu-ray.
The reason why I bring up the xbots is because the hd-dvd supporters on this site tend to be xbot trolls.
Finally Warner can produce all their discs with lossless sound..
The only bad studios that produce hd media now are mgm and paramount.
Its the best bang for the buck though..... This is why ppl buy the ps3 as a blu-ray player not only as a gaming machine.
Its like a civic, many ppl find alot of value in a civic but its not the best car in the world.
Blu-ray and hd-dvd are the only formats that fully take advantage of your hdtv. Last ive seen 95 tv's sold in stores are now flat panels or projectors.
Downloadable content is a format in itself and it is not exactly flying.
At the current state blu is doing MUCH better than red in world wide sales.
Its gonna fail just like c&c3.
You really need a full mouse and kb support for rts games.
Plus if you look at the koreans it is much easier to coordinate your tactics and movement on a smaller screen i.e. typical pc gaming.
- they just have to slowly phase out xp and fully support vista
- then iron out the bugs.
I doubt this os will turn into another windows ME
q3a, ut, and counterstrike are the most competitive experiences.
Don't get me wrong the game is totally awesome... it really is but its not a brialliant game.
It really does feel like a call of duty game.... meaning it feels like cod 2 and 3.
nothing new is brought to the table.... except for that level where you gun down guys from the plan. The sniper level was quite col also.
All in all its was the same expereince as cod2 and 3.
With the expensive component cables and with 7 games..... the only game that is worth while on the system is re4, zelda, and ikaruga
The system is litterly collecting dust.
It is in Excellent condtion, deabating whether I should sell it or keep it as a novelty item
Most of the games are not exclusive, they can be found on pc or ps3.
sorry xbots its true.... thats why I always refer to the xbox as a poor mans pc.
, both sony and samsung cater to the low > mid range market in flat panels.....
IMO panasonic and sharp make the best high end panels. Maybe this will help combat these two CE co's
8 more coming in via mail
Last I read 1 x bd drive reads JUST as much data as a 16 x dvd drive...
It's funny but my friend who is also an xbox troll like yourself brought up this same exact comment. Misinformed and blinded by fanboyism just makes you look stupid.
Sorry you lose.... its like saying 1 meter is shorter than 10 cm's
Geez eventually hd media will eat away at the dvd market.
Sorry but hd media is the future.... what else will actually use the full potential of flat panel tv's?
DVD's are fine for most for now but once when everyone starts investiting into big screen tv's... the general public will start seeing the flaws of dvd tech.
What makes me laugh is this generation of media is driven by both xbox and ps3 fans. The difference is xbox fans are much more confu...
they want to make it a selling point.
What elese does hd-dvd really have .... price advantage for stand alone players and these extra features.
What does xbox have.... really what does it have
Halo and Mass Effect... the rest is multiplatform or on PC
Its funny I notice a general trend for the xbox fanboys... yes we all know that MOST multiplatform games are graphically better on the xbox vs the ps3....but it is the xbots that are ALWAYS the first to jump on the bandwagon and too how good their multiplatform games are.....
In the end of the day you can find most of the games on pc or ps3.....
Im pretty sure Sony has an agreement with BDA not to include xbox in the 360. After all Sony helped push t he war like crazy.
Since sony scratched the BDA's back im pretty sure BDA will do the same for Sony.
If MS been a hardware manufacturer (not sure if the have a division in BDA) they might be able to produce blu-ray drives under xbox name
We might see blu-ray in the next xbox or...
