I sometimes imagine that for whoever authorises some of these 'articles' it's like throwing a hand grenade into a room full of people and closing the door.

Sure, it generates a lot of clicks and discussion but it's clicks for the wrong reasons and, often, non-constructive 'discussion'.

I've been visiting this site for a couple of years now and, since the current gen started, I feel more and more like things are approved for dramati...

The lack of 3rd party support has always been an issue for Nintendo, after SNES.

They've managed to almost always turn a tidy profit though.

I couldn't agree more.

Yes, and it runs a lot hotter and louder than my X1 when playing games. So, it's not really 'hogwash'.

When I first got my PS4 I was a little concerned about how much more heat it was putting out compared to the Xbox. I had to clear the other things off of the shelf in my cabinet to stop the fan ramping up when playing. My Xbox is on a shelf the same size and, even after hours of gaming, the fan doesn't get louder and there doesn't seem to be any real diff...

@G20WLY

Well, it goes perfectly with my Onkyo AV Receiver and region-free Blu-Ray player. My PS4 doesn't blend at all and so it's kept on the opposite side of my media cabinet with my Wii U. So, on that basis, it blends in perfectly with home cinema equipment.

If you have a proper media setup then the dimensions of the X1 fit into that. A bit like the PSX did a few years back. The design of the PS4 and Wii U comes from the traditional console angle an...

With X1 they were going for an aesthetic that fits in with your media setup, so it's dimensions match up with that of an amp or blu-ray player.

Personally, I like that it fits in with all of my equipment but I like the PS4 just as much for how nice it is as an object.

I have both and the X1 is considerably quieter than the PS4. That's an advantage of the size. I do think that Sony could have got away with making the PS4 a tiny bit bigger to make it ru...

@Halo2ODST2

If we looked at it on that basis then we would still be playing on the NES and Master System. After all, when the SNES and Genesis came out there were far more games on the previous generation, why upgrade? I cannot even be bothered to answer that.

It's been the same on the ps4 and it's the same every generation.

None of those things, necessarily, equate to the games I want to play. After all, quantity does not directly correlate with quality.

Shareplay? Does that suddenly make games better? I really can't grasp your point. Perhaps I'm stupid.

My comment was not negative towards PS4, so you can calm down a bit. I own all three systems, I'm hardly biased to one, I wonder if you are able to say the same? I'm just saying that I'm finding myself playin...

I own both. My X1 and Wii U get more play time than my PS4. Not through console preference but the games. It's a natural order that I can't avoid. If PS4 had more games that grab my attention then I'm sure I'd be playing that more. Maybe in 2015.

I thought that Battlefield had those things first.

I'll admit that they did start to introduce some tighter maps to appeal to CoD players.

Pandamobile is 100% correct. Bad Company was a bridge between console shooters and the traditional Battlefield games on PC. Once console gamers had acclimatised to a more PC style game they were able to make Battlefield 3 for PC and console. If they had just jumped straight to console with BF3 I doubt those games would have been as well received.

Having been a PC Battlefield player before console, I always longed for a true Battlefield experience on Xbox or Playstation and wi...

The LBP2 plush that I got with the game didn't quite look right but nowhere near as bad as those. Strangely, I bought one as well, it was made by a different manufacturer to the one with the game, and it was perfect.

@Mikey Mike

I'm sorry, Halo 2 Anniversary is a lot more than a higher poly count. It may still play the same but the difference visually is night and day, it's using completely new assets for everything and it shows. GTA V is definitely a big overhaul but not to the degree of Halo 2. I'm looking forward to playing GTA way more than Halo though. It played like a next gen game and now it has the visuals to match, Halo 2 plays like an old game but looks like a new on...

My PS4 is my, slightly better, multiplat box at the moment. I long for an amazing first party title on it.

X1 and Wii U are keeping me busy, so I'm fine with that for now. Loving Halo:MCC and Bayo 2 at the moment. Hopefully the new year will see PS4 coming in to its own.

I still intend to get Wind Waker HD and DK Tropical Freeze. I just don't know if I have the time to play them.

Agreed.

When PS1, Saturn, PS2, Dreamcast and N64, to name just a few, came out they only had two or three games worth having for the first year or so. I'm talking about from the Japanese release but that's only the same as a worldwide release now. People need to take into account that in the past systems were released about a year before the west, in Japan. Developers had all of that time to get a catalogue of games ready for the Western launch and plenty in the pipel...

@memots

I suppose having more games on PS4 means there's more games worth having on PS4? I'm just trying to understand because, being a prolific game buyer, my PS4 collection is quite limited compared to my X1 collection. If the number of great games, that people actually want to buy, on a system is based on quantity then I can't understand why I don't have more games on my PS4.

YouTube does 60fps now. May not apply to this video but I thought I'd keep you informed. YouTube' compression is another thing though.

Still, looks lik the another game that's virtually identical on both systems. That can only be a good thing for gamers, right? I'm sure I'll get plenty of disagrees from a certain group.

Also, what's with all these games with better frame rates on X1 at the moment? Cod, Ass...

It would have been available at the same time on PS4 if Sony hadn't rejected EA Access. It has nothing to do with Microsoft.

I know it can feel better to some people if they can blame Microsoft for everything they don't like but it was Sony's choice. To be honest, I wouldn't bother with EA Access anyway, so it's a moot point unless you actually want the service.

Yup, we all have our own opinions.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on PC (not to be confused with the mediocre console game) for me. It was so far ahead of everything else at the time and it was definitely the inspiration for CoD 4. Modern Combat/Modern Warfare sound a little similar, right? Then came 2142 and that was a tad similar (very similar) to Black Ops 2. Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

I know that a lot of people loved Bad Company (me included) but t...

It has depth of field, which the early shots do not.

It's a layer of post processing that intentionally blurs the image to give it depth and to look more realistic. The human eye - or a camera - cannot focus near and far at the same time, the early shot is un-natural. If you're into photography you can spend a huge amount of money to get lenses which have wide apertures for this kind of depth of field. It looks better.
