I completely agree. It goes for fanboys of any kind.
It was introduced to the industry by Sony with Tomb Raider II, in 1997, on the PS1 and has been going on ever since. I remember people being up in arms at the time because the first game had been multiplat.
I don't get why people say this is a new thing. Oh yeah, it's a way of justifying hate towards Xbox.
Surely every PS4 fan in here is outraged on principle? After all, we seemed to be after MS got Tomb Raider. That must work both ways right?
It sounds a bit like:
MS does it = money hatting, bad practice.
Sony does it = good business sense and well deserved.
- Just playing. ;)
Personally I don't appreciate it but it's basically been a standard part of the business for two decades. I'm looking forward to playin...
It's been that way for a very long time and it was cemented with the PS1. It's not going to change.
We do all have a choice, we can buy both systems. It may not be entirely ideal for everyone but on a positive note, I'd rather have competing companies that are forced to innovate and drive down prices for us - the consumers. If there were a monopoly then we could expect much higher prices on everything and a lot more restrictions.
I'm sure pe...
It just doesn't sit right with me to have such a huge game with yearly iterations.
If you were to play the whole game with all the side missions you'd probably only be done with it a short time before the next game is released. That's just milking the franchise to death.
Because Sony are for gamers. MS are against us. We need to be ready to defend Sony. The 'EMAGON' pop at MS yesterday was hilarious, way to go Sony! Obviously this random Tweet from someone at MS totally crosses the line. He should be fired, but we all know he won't be because it's what everyone at Microsoft would do, and people that haven't already boycotted MS should do so now......
At least, that's how I could paraphrase a lot of comments around here...
Agreed, it will have damaged the reputation of Evolution but not Sony.
I think I'll do the same. I thought there was something wrong with my PS4 controller at first, because it lasts a fraction of the time that my X1 controller does. I usually end up keeping it plugged in all of the time.
Interesting that only three of the games on the list aren't made by Nintendo.
I knew that Tetris had been the top selling game of all time for many years but I am a little surprised to find that it's still the case.
I don't think this is necessarily a stab at Xbox, in fact I think it's very unlikely. It could be taken any number of ways and the Xbox idea is actually more tenuous than any of the other suggestions in the article.
I suppose the article would generate more hits with an Xbox link/insult. I can only understand the title on that basis. The problem is that it just fuels arguments and pointless debate without any basis.
If there's one thing I've noticed about X1 and Microsoft it's that they don't get a free pass on anything this generation. They even get ripped to shreds when they do good things.
A lot of people have bought their PS4s for games that aren't out yet. Maybe it has something to do with the last gen being so long and people hankering for new hardware.
@Ocsta
"Not as pathetic as Xboners wishing they could play this baby."
Why is it pathetic to want to play a game? Why even bring up Xbox?
Until they have delivered on their original promise it's, essentially, broken. The PS+ version is still not available.
I don't get why people are defending it. I'm a PS4 owner and I can totally see the problem here.
@Mega24 & @Dramacydal
I think the point is that even when you have a massive open beta you still can have issues, at least Destiny's issues were to a lesser degree which is probably due to them actually having the beta. Driveclub didn't have a beta at all and look at how much more of a mess that game is.
Get it?
In the UK (and most other parts of the world) 3-12-14 reads - 'the 3rd of December 2014'. When read out loud the format makes more sense.
I probably would have put the first Ridge Racer on there, since it's iconic of the brand and what drove sales in the first place. If it hadn't been for Ridge the PlayStation may not have made the early ground that it did against the Saturn. It may not be ground breaking by today's standards, or even the other games on the list, but in 1994 it was a revelation and no one had ever experienced anything like it on a home console.
Other than that it's a great list ...
@FriedGoat
As long as the casual market can afford it so that enough of that 15 million buy it in order for devs to want to make games for it.
It's a chicken and egg scenario. If the Morpheus costs anywhere near the same as a PS4 the casual market will not be it's bread and butter. Problem is, I can't see how it could be cheap enough without Sony subsidising it which I can't see them being able to do, or wanting to.
Oculus on...
Hopefully Morpheus won't go the way of Jaguar VR or Virtual Boy. Before they came out we all thought they would be the future of gaming.
I would imagine that the tech requires a huge R&D investment upfront and then massive investment to produce the final product at a volume which allows the sale price to be affordable for the average gamer. Then there needs to be motivation to get developers, other than first party, to develop for a peripheral that's tied to one p...
I know that and totally get it. To be able to have yearly releases they need to be able to re-use assets.
I'm talking about from the point of view of the consumer.
