@Death
After replying to your previous post I'll reply to this one too.
The marketing for PS+ really worked on you. It was obvious from the start that switching to a paid online gaming service was the objective. It was never hard to read between the lines and it was completely understandable they would need to do it eventually.
My previous posts, further up, goes into much greater detail as to why.
I have to say that I n...
@Death
Correction, PS+ WAS a game subscription service to motivate PS3 owners to move to a paid service in order to to condition and prepare them for the paid model that they intended to implement on PS4. It's worked and will gradually be phased out. PS+ is now a subscription service for online gaming.
It's understandable, there was no way that Sony could offer free online gaming forever and I think they transitioned to paid service in the best way th...
@Blastoise
Sony used to offer better games because they needed to justify PS+ to people. Now that PS+ is a requirement and the position that they are in, being the most popular platform, they don't really have a motivation to burn money any more. I'm certain that they offered better games, intentionally, as a loss leader to build up PS+ as a service and convert people to a paid model. Now that the transition to paid service is complete they'll begin to retract tha...
I stuck Evolve on download this morning. Looking forward to getting home and checking it out. Looks mightily interesting and will be good to see if it has legs.
I have to agree, I really can't see the justification in SharePlay. I only really gain by being the person at the other end playing. What incentive does the host have? That's what I think a lot of people have not considered in this. We would all like to be able to play games for free but how many of us want to give it away and hang around to re-enable access every hour for that to happen?
I know that the argument then moves on to the 'virtual couch' - no pun i...
Agreed. People need to consider criticism, instead of simply going nuts when something potentially negative is stated.
Restrictions aren't ideal but if enough people aren't happy with it then that can be changed. If we all just accept things as they are then we will end up with a less rich service from these companies.
Microsoft has had an incredible amount of criticism fired at it and look at the efforts they're going to in order to make their cu...
@aceitman
I've always felt that the "gaming first" thing has just been spin for the PS4's short comings.
On the subject of X1, most of the features that have been added to it the PS4 doesn't have, so it's not exactly catch up. The X1 is not multi media first, that was only when it was announced before E3 last year and ever since, due to them realising their massive mistake, it's been gaming first.
Before people s...
@mikeslemonade
"Sony doesn't need to do anything."
That's worrying if people think that. I hope Sony don't think that. Not in regards to this but in general. I don't want my PS4 to not be the best it can be due to complacency.
I bought Infamous and played it a bit but it simply didn't hold my attention.
Great looking game but it doesn't have any real substance.
So you're saying that Alian Isolation should have been an 8 or a 9. So, IGN low score games.
By that logic you must be saying that Sunset Overdrive is a 12/10.
If that's not what you mean then you've massively contradicted yourself in one sentence.
OT, I'm actually considering this game now that it has quite a few good scores under its belt. I certainly don't go entirely by reviews but it's a good yard stick.
Buy both, you won't regret it.
I really hope we aren't seeing the usual situation where the market leader rests on their laurels. We've all put a lot of faith in Sony up to this point and 2015 will need to be a great year to keep that positive momentum going. Looking forward to it.
"ICO was also a hard game to find in stores. A re-release was warranted. This is not the case with TLOU."
Agreed with ICO. That game was barely noticed when it was first released and it was subsequently deleted. It's popularity grew long after this and spurred Sony to re-produce it.
It was one of those games that I thought would one day be worth something and so I bought three more copies of the original, with the art cards, when it was in the b...
@RedDevils
I agree with Fizzgig, as far as, a remaster of an old game is nowhere near as great as something entirely new. It's the reason why I feel that you can never use a remake as a reason to buy a console. It's something that's nice to have and I am going to get GTA V again, but I wouldn't consider it possible to be a highlight of my gaming year. I'm really looking forward to the Master Chief Collection but it certainly isn't centre stage.

If true, that's another game ruined for everyone. I hate these leaks. I know that we all want to know about games that are coming out but a leak is essentially a spoiler and leaves nothing as a surprise and therefore detracts from the final experience.
For some reason the issue I remember is the one where they previewed the PS1 and it had loads of up close photos of the console and all of the other weird and wonderful prototypes they had made. I remember spending hours just looking at the pictures.
I think that when I got hold of my import PS1 with Ridge Racer in '94 it was possibly the most overcome with excitement I have ever been about a console.
I found that issue a few years ago and realised that a...
The first issue was in 1993. So, over 21 years that really does show how strict they are.
For those that say "a game can't score 10". Edge say that a 10 is based on the here and now. If it's perfect for it's time then it deserves a 10. Also, a 6 in Edge is not a bad score, it means that the game is a little above average. They don't score everything between 7 and 10 like other places and a 7 is actually a very good score.
They'll...
Surprised at the FH2 review. I haven't personally got it but going by average reviews I kind of expected to be a given that it would score higher than Driveclub.
Alien Isolation an 8, who would have thought? Hopefully my issue will have arrived when I get home tonight. It'll be an interesting read.
The layout of the PlayStation controller was based on Nintendo's Snes controller (A select, B back which is the opposite placement to Xbox controllers). If you ever wondered why Nintendo controllers are laid out BA instead of AB it's because they read books in the opposite direction in Japan and so, directionally, it makes more sense to do that.
On PlayStation systems O is select and X is back, with X swapped for B and O for A, - hence the X, for close. You may be thi...
I don't know whether it's because it's an Alpha but it wasn't as visually impressive as the E3 videos. In fact, nowhere near. Controls felt a bit stilted too.
I was enjoying it to a degree and it definitely felt like Left 4 Dead, which I loved, but I'm not sure how much longevity it could have. I felt there was too much time wandering around and trying to find the monster.
I've not been hyped by this game but I was interested none the ...
