There is no particular game at the moment. The PS4 is riding the crest of a wave of good marketing and PR.

I own one but I won't deny that it's killer apps are in the future and on a promise.

Exactly. Popularity doesn't = quality. Historically the underdog has the more creative games as well. Quality > quantity any day of the week.

@Haru

I'm not sure I agree with that, certainly not here in the UK. XB1 and PS4 seem to have equal presence when I go into game stores. In fact the retailer 'GAME' gives one side to Xbox and the other to Playstation with Nintendo occupying the racks around the middle. It's generally more about how much a manufacturer pays the retailer for floor space.

I can't speak for the continent but it is generally accepted that PlayStation is more pop...

@tommygunzII

That's the problem with the expectations people have, they are always basing them on past experiences and therefore on games that have already been done.

It's a good game but I think people tend to be a little bit entitled and spoilt these days and expect the moon on a stick.

I'm not saying that about Destiny, I mean in general. It's the first time that I've ever known devs to change a game in order to pander...

Usually such high prices are paid to ensure that no one else will buy the company. Not because it is actually worth that.

It's such a competitive area that if they weren't to put in a massive bid then another company could swoop in and take it.

So true. It's often been the case. I don't think the Japanese tend to buy something because it's new tech, it needs to have a purpose. That purpose would be a must have game that appeals to the market. That market is very different to the West.

Once the games are there they will probably start buying. They simply aren't like us, in that we have a tendency to buy the latest, and greatest, hardware even though we'll be spending the next year moaning that the...

I'm very happy with parity as long as it isn't done by making a sacrifice.

It would be a bigger deal if MS were to back out of the competition. We, as gamers, could kiss goodbye to choice and competitive innovation and pricing of any kind.

Everybody seems to want a monopoly without considering the ramifications of such a thing.

If someone considers themselves a real gamer they should support each of the main platforms. Hoping that the competition fails is effectively wanting to have less choice as a gamer. I don't want less cho...

@Volkama

If anything, if the PS4 version looks sharper it could suggest less anti aliasing. That's extremely unlikely though.

Time and again we see comparisons where the issues raised are based around colour and brightness which are, almost certainly, down to capture method or the individual settings on the console running the game.

I've actually bought this game on both systems. I'm looking forward to comparing them when I get home tonight. I'm going to make sure that both my PS4 and XB1 are calibrated for gamma, brightness, contrast and colour intensity before doing that. There is no d...

Yeah, it's like when you see reviews saying things like:

"I don't like FPS games. 1/10"

If they don't like a genre why are they reviewing it!!??

Do they actually think that their opinion is valid for anyone that actually does like those games? I don't like RTS games so I think I am probably the worst person to ask for an opinion on one. I'm not about to go on Metacritic and give every RTS game 1/10 because I don&...

It really pisses me off when people complain that one game isn't like another. It's as though they think that copying other people's work is a mark of quality.

If a film, book or song is near identical to another do they think that makes it good? No, they'd say that it has been ripped off.

If we praise games for being generic then we run the risk of smothering creativity.

@Palitera

You're certainly right about Betas these days. They aren't actual Betas anymore, they're extended demos with a name that suggests exclusive access. They're a marketing tool more than anything else.

Betas used to have true limited access because they genuinely were not representative of the final product and devs needed to ensure that the people testing it weren't going to judge it as the final product.

I used to ...

I couldn't open my XB1 box because it needed an update and my internet was down at the time. My PS4 box doesn't have DRM and the boxart is much higher resolution. No jaggies or anything.

All I can see is that their gamma, brightness and contrast are off on all three platforms.

PS4 is set too dark
PC is set too dark
XB1 is set too bright

If all three were set to, at least, brightness, contrast and gamma reference then they would look the same. Different devices do give out different levels of each of these and just because one is at reference it doesn't mean that another is. You have to calibrate your display for each devic...

The Xbox version does look washed out but this is a gamma issue relating to settings more than anything else. It's the same reason that the PS4 version seems much darker.It's somewhat unprofessional to capture source without ensuring that your reference levels are correct for each device you record from and then to use that as a reason why the versions differ. If they set their gamma, brightness and contrast relative then I would imagine they would look the same.

But...

In fact that was the goal from the inception of the Xbox brand.

I'm sorry but I just don't see how this is mocking Sony. It's quite clever and fun.
