PC mode crushes the blacks for me. On every TV I've used it on.
I do find that most people tend to have their contrast way too high and the gamma set too high as well.
Generally Xbox looks good with 2.0 or 2.2 gamma but it differs from screen to screen.
The thing is , if you calibrate your screen correctly you'll probably think that it looks bad because the contrast shouldn't be high and the colour should be way lower than the fac...

If you have an image that is very dark you adjust the gamma. That shouldn't make the image grey.
I'm obsessed with image calibration for films and games. A bit sad, I know.
I've never had an issue with Xbox and blacks. If the colour settings aren't correct then it could be a bit black and especially when set to PC mode which isn't actually correct for a TV, in that mode the blacks ARE crushed.

I basically find that I'm shunned for not picking sides and wanting to appreciate all gaming platforms so that I can enjoy any game that I like the look of.
Other people tend to ignore anything I say on here and I can only put it down to the fact that I don't get involved in abusing other people for their tastes or the products they buy.
It's good that new features will come and people do need to be patient.
It is strange that in here everyone is the voice of reason yet if this was Xbox everyone here would be berating Microsoft. In fact even when MS brings new features people still turn it in to a negative.

It's incredibly frustrating, N4G is an excellent site for a constant stream of news but the number of biased opinion pieces really muddies the waters.
You can tell that it's no coincidence because they all seem to balance heavily to one side. If something negative is mentioned somewhere about a certain console then N4G will have the original story or two that mention it and then a slew of sensationalist, clickbait, opinion pieces from obscure outlets talking about it ...
You'd think.
There'll just be loads of comments about the PS4 version being gimped, parity clauses and talk of boycotting the game on PS4. Then there'll be opinion piece articles saying the same and then those articles will be endlessly referenced as fact to fit people's agendas.

The Master Chief Collection being the most exciting prospect does indeed say it all. It's the same with The Last of Us remake on PS4. They are great games and I'm sure I'll be picking them both up but they should be being upstaged by games for this generation.
I've made an observation. Out of 172 comments (at the time of writing this) I've counted only 3 comments suggesting that the Xbox One may be on par or more powerful than the PS4.

A system goes down for 30 minutes (that's how long it was down for me), in 8 months, and you write it off as not fit for purpose? Wasn't PSN down as well and not for the first time? If a role no longer exists then a company has every right to terminate their contract. It has nothing to do with the profitability of the company. If the company terminated employment but then re-filled that role then it would be a different story entirely, that's a no, no.

Timed exclusives are one thing but people paying the same price for an expansion pack that doesn't provide the same amount of content on both platforms is downright unethical.
That's not a good comparison. The XB1 image is over saturated and the contrast is way too high. It's either down to the video settings of the Xbox it was taken from or the capture device. In fact it means that the XB1 image you have there looks worse than the PS4. Look at the huge loss of detail on the foreground object, it's so bright that it becomes white and loses the subtle graduation from dark to light, this is due to the contrast being set too high.
