@Mr Pumblechook
They have to sell the idea to devs to get the games made. How do you solve that without them talking about it?
To quote Vegamyster above
"Not the best comparison shot, the PS3 screenshot is 851x474 (PS3 version is 1280x720) while the other one is 1920x1080."
That's why it looks blurry and makes the comparison seem more pronounced. It needs to be 1280x720 to be a fair comparison.
Totally agree and MS would do the same if Sony went under. It's not personal but it's just the way monopolies pan out. Hence why there are monopoly commissions to try and prevent such things.
Another day in paradise.
It would be nice if everyone were emailed copies of their posts in five years. They'd look at it, outside of the extravaganza that is the current fan war, and think "did I really say that?".
I couldn't agree more on what you say. I go on this site because of the constant stream of articles but the comments sections drive me crazy with the people with their agendas. So many contributors have a selective memory when it comes to their favourite console. It doesn't help that some of the opinion pieces (key word here is 'OPINION' people) that are approved are clear flame bait and that people jump on them to justify their point of view and use the information in those p...
I can just imagine the comments if this were FH2. Like with the weather, so many people were sighting that as a reason why Forza 5 was 'last gen'. Now it's okay? I don't get it.
It is disappointing. There's no point in defending it. I hope that it's a good enough game to make up for it. Only time will tell. It's feature set does seem rather scant.
I don't believe in the idea that ticking boxes = good game but the less this ga...
Some day.
Looking at Sony consoles alone.
PS2 = 158 Million over 12 years
PS3 = 83 Million over 8 years
PS4 = 9 Million over 7 months
Not a fair comparison. Most sales come as the product becomes cheaper and it is released in more countries. This can actually be long after the release in the West. I'm talking about countries like Russia ($828 net income per month VS $3460 in the UK) where there is a huge population but at the price, early in the lif...
It's been like that ever since I can remember, back to the early 90s. Review scores generally range between 7 and 9. If a publication really hates a game they'll give it 3 or 4, to make a statement.
We've all been conditioned to look at it this way.
In reality anything above a 5 should be considered above average but it is not. It's ridiculous that it's this way. So, 1-5 should be bad to average 6-10 should be good to perfection. The only ...
Love it. LBP was probably my favourite game on PS3 right from the first videos.
My finger hovered over the order button for a moment and then I remembered that I've just laid out for a new carbon road bike. I'm thinking I'll probably get an LBP3 bundle. Fingers crossed they do it and I should have recovered, financially, by then.
Your comment made me think, if I could only choose two then it would also be PC and Wii U. I actually don't game on a PC these days but that's because owning so many consoles gives me more than enough to play. As soon as that is restricted to two my mind goes to PC. Interesting.
I currently have connected to my TV:-
PS3
Xbox 360
Xbox One
Wii U
Handheld wise I have 3DS, Android tablet and android phone.
...
I'd appreciate an invite too.

It's actually come to the point that gamers lobby developers because they don't like the way a game is being developed and the devs make u-turns from the pressure. I'm all for constructive criticism and customer feedback but I also believe that this kind of thing can effectively stunt innovation. Consumers often don't like change but if there was no change things wouldn't move forward. I actually think it bad that we know so much about the games that are coming out in year...
I think it depends on the context. If someone is saying a game sucks because their agenda is to put down a platform they dislike then it could be considered fanboyism, the same way that the people who attack them are fanboys themselves.
If it is simply an observation based on personal opinion that someone prefers one game to another, regardless of the platform on which that game resides, then shame on the fanboys that attack them on that basis.
PC?
More to the point, I think a "real" gamer is anyone that has a passion for games, regardless of the platform(s). If people think that isn't the case then they're more concerned with brands and loyalty than gaming.
Personally, I'll invest in a platform that I want to play a game on, generally speaking that's every platform that comes out. If the manufacturer were exploiting child labour or destroying the planet more than any other...
Flamebait. I own an Xbox One but articles like this don't deserve the lime light.
It's wasted breath to even be talking about it, which I accept I am doing right now. :P
"Uncharted 4 (right now) is the best looking console game ever IMO"
Everyone was saying things like that about Watchdogs. It isn't "right now" until it's, at least, in the hands of reviewers.
I hope it is but Watchdogs has shown that, even with actual game footage, it can still change. Devs will always want to show their game in the best possible light. I don't believe that they want to pull the wool over anyone's eyes but...
@snookiegamer
People don't seem to be able to enjoy a game unless they know that another platform has a slightly inferior version of it, then it's game on!
I never thought that gaming would end up revolving around counting pixels, it kinda goes to show how close these platforms are to each other.
We would all like for a game to have the highest resolution possible, among other things, that can be displayed on the screen we own (by the...
Most powerful - yes. Best - not yet.
It's subjective but if someone asked me to choose the best console ever I would probably be thinking about the SNES or Dreamcast. This is because, surely, it needs to be forthe entertainment value and the variety and standard of games on the system. It's also not about the size of catalogue either.
At the end of this generation, if the PS4 has the most robust catalogue of games, then it will be the best console eve...
