The only time you should really care about 'specs' is when your buying a PC. THAT'S when specs become important.
Consoles are closed systems; they cannot be upgraded. They remain virtually the same until their successor is released. PCs are open. They can be upgraded at any time. You can add more RAM, put in a new processor, install a new GPU, etc.
People don't buy consoles for specs. If they did, then why have the weakest consoles been sellin...

Do the graphics look great?
Yes, yes they do.
But that isn't what defines "next-gen". I don't care how pretty it looks; if it's boring - then it isn't a good game. (No, I did not just say the game IS boring) - My point is;
Graphics < Gameplay
Nintendo caught lightning in a bottle with the Wii. What sold the Wii more; Mario Galaxy or Wii Sports? Twilight Princess or Wii Fit?
The "casual crowd" was fascinated by this new "toy" (that's basically all it was to most people) - and so they bought it and played it for a while. The Wii was a fad, a fad which slowly descended after a while.
Now most of that casual crowd has migrated to their smartphones and tablets to play other fads...
Not necessarily. Is the game the main cause? Nope - but it does desensitize them into thinking that it would be nice to get that same "thrill" in real life.
And even though in more extreme cases it has to due with mentally-ill individuals; the entertainment we indulge in does have an effect on us.
Just look at kids; they tend to imitate their favorite characters. How many kids have you seen trying to be Luke Skywalker, Spiderman, Superman, Batman, O...
Criterion did an awesome job with Need for Speed: Most Wanted U. The problem is that instead of trying to release it closer to launch; they released it over 6 MONTHS after the other versions - specifically: FOUR other versions. Players more than likely already owned it/played it on other platforms. Not to mention they charged full-price for it.
Oh well, I bought the game; that's all I can do.

Looks like N is trying to replicate the turn-around maneuver they pulled with the 3DS. Awesome. Just like Wii U; that system was flat-lining for months, but NOW look where it is.
It should be interesting to see what the new titles between the rest of the year and next year will bring.
If they had it in open-world form, like Namco-Bandai's "Go Vacation" ~ then it really would be cool.
Nonetheless, might check it out.
The thing is, looking back at titles like Crysis 3, the Mass Effect games, Battlefield series, The Last of Us and GTA: V - all of which looked gorgeous on the PS3/360 ~ I'm quite interested in seeing what devs will be able to do with the Wii U's hardware.
Games like X, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Smash 4 and Pikmin 3 give a little preview as to what the system can do.

My point was; many people were judging the Wii U's power by it's launch titles. Nintendo fans defended these claims with statements like:
"It's new, so developers need a little time."
All the PS4/X1 fanboys did was laugh and continue to sling mud and talk down the Wii U's performance. Now both systems are currently not the all-powerful gods that these...

If the devs need extra time to iron things out - let them be. Hope this is a rumor; this title has been hyped up a lot and it looks quite promising.

"Well, the devs are going to need time to get used to the new hardware."

Well, in all fairness, the Wii U (and 3DS, for that matter), are so far having better third-party support than their predecessors.
But yet; I agree, more needs to be done. Devs claim to be waiting on better sales - but it really makes me wonder, are they actually going to follow through? It seems like no matter what - they always find SOME excuse to skip N consoles.

Shin'en isn't a "Japanimation" team. These guys are responsible for developing Jett Rocket, Fast: Racing League, and Art of Balance; three titles - WIIWARE TITLES - that look better than 90% of the Wii's retail library.
These are also the guys who've been giving little snippets of intel on the systems specs and the team behind the Wii U eShop's "Nano Assault: NEO".
