Oh you people and hardware specs. Yes, it's a bit lightweight, but if it could already have two of it's games using PC assets, three months into it's lifetime, I don't think we have to worry a bit too much.
Yes, XBOX 720 and PS4 have the upper-hand in the power~division, and there will be a visual difference, but it's not another Wii vs. PS3 scenario. The gap is much smaller this time around.
History has shown that the most powerful consol...
I think the main reason why you see very little Wii U ads fluttering around, is because Nintendo is probably just waiting in the shadows ~ Again.
That's what they've been doing from since 2010, when "Project Cafe" was first leaked. They've been hiding in the shadows, months of complete silence, then they blast out with this whole barrage of news that leaves many with jaws dropped to the floor.
They did a very nice job in introducing the ...
Finally someone understands.
Nintendo Haters/ Gaming Journalists are ranting and raving about the Wii U's doom - like it's anything new. It happens to every new console, so I don't see why so many people are declaring the "End of the World for Nintendo!"
I don't get why the big hate is on Nintendo. They helped create, save, and innovate the gaming industry to what it is today. They helped shape it and change it. With every one of the...
Remfmber how many games the 360 and PS3 missed out at the beginning of their lifetimes?
It's new tech, entering at a time when newly releasing titles may have been in development years before. Devs would now have to take the time to port it over. That's why the Wii U is getting a large tsunami of third party titles at this time, but it will pick up soon enough.
Even so, the third party games already released, and to be released, are already much more ...
To continue ~ I used NFS Most Wanted as an example, because of the effort that was put into it. It uses the high-res textures of the PC version of the game, which is pretty impressive. They also improved the lighting and shading, and even reflections.
If more devs follow Criterion, with that level of effort to really try and make use of the hardware, the Wii U can see some pretty great looking multiplat games.
I'm not disputing the fact that the PS4 and 720 will h...
I agree. I just hope people get it through their heads that the Wii U isn't as technologically challenged this time around. NFS: Most Wanted U is proof of that. If we see devs coming out with the same level of effort, the Wii U has a bright future on its horizon.
There's no doubt that there's going to be a visual difference when comparing Wii U to PS4/720 - but there's NO WAY we're going to see another Wii vs. PS3/360. The gap is much smaller this time aro...
I played a little of it on a friend's XBOX 360 and it was pretty cool. The gameplay is quite fast and fun. Overall, it's pretty well built.
I do recommend getting it. :-)
That's a shame. I love the Burnout series. I thoroughly enjoyed Burnout: Paradise.
Alex Ward himself has been lavishing the hardware. That alone should make the future look bright with Criterion's projects on Wii U.
Power, Specs, Graphics .... Is that all that all gamers check for these days? Oi.
The PS1 was underpowered - did pretty well.
The PS2 was underpowered - lasted a decade.
The DS was underpowered - became the best selling video game device ever.
The 3DS is underpowered - currently hottest selling gaming device on the market
The Wii was underpowered - Approaching 100 million units sold.
The point is ~ specs aren't everything. Ju...
The Wii U isn't getting many 360/PS3 ports, because it's a new console that just came on the scene. Devs were working on some projects eons before they got their Wii U dev kits.
That's why not every game coming out to the PS3/360 this year, is being confirmed for Wii U. They have to take time and money trying to port a near-finished project on new hardware. That's a handful.
The PS4 and 720 may have an edge over the Wii U - but it would be qui...
For all those now trying to point the finger at a "2D Side-Scroller not being able to run at 60 FPS at 1080p on a next-gen console" ~ Let's not forget Rayman Legends, shall we?
That game runs at full 1080p at 60 FPS on the Wii U.
Maybe they really can't optimize the game to do 1080p and 60fps because of price. Money is essential, people.
PS1 was weaker- That did good
PS2 was weaker - That left a legacy
DS was weaker - Became the best selling video game console of all time
Wii was weaker - Has now generated almost 100 million sales.
Nintendo left the power-arms race after GC. They realized that power isn't the core of the console. Yes, more console means more tools to create bigger, better games with - but it isn't the entire heart of a console. It's how you operate that po...
Watch out PopRocks - Making sense and providing cold hard proof to justify it is quite dangerous here. You should be careful. The Sony fanboys will eat you alive.
~ Seriously though - excellent point, my friend. It's good to see knowledgeable and logical people, who actually THINK and not have knee-jerk reaction to things, on a site like this.
The Wii U is no Virtual Boy, people. It - like every other console before it - is in it's total infancy. It h...
This is really great, on Criterion's part.
Even if the PC has a slight edge over it - the Wii U version still utilizes it's textures, and they also went an extra step in improving the lighting.
For a port - this is gold. Just goes to show that it's not the Wii U's hardware that's lousy - it's the lazy developers behind it.
- Doomers and Gloomers ~ question for you?
Are you getting paid for this? No, really. That's how it seems. You guys are getting so proactive with your 'work' it's really as if you're getting paid.
Either way ~ It's been 3 months people. Not 3 years. THREE MONTHS. Give the Wii U time to find it's voice. Like EVERY OTHER CONSOLE - it's launch was a bit lackluster.
But look at all the big titles it has coming thro...
The Wii U's hardware - as it stands now - is quite capable, and the oldest tech in it, is probably only two years old.
If you want an ALL-POWERFUL GAMING SYSTEM, with top-of-the-line hardware - buy a gaming PC or build one yourself.
People keep forgetting than when you get that top-of-the-line system ~ you're also gonna have to pay that top-of-the-line price, too.
I don't think Nintendo needs to make a powerhouse of a console. It'...
- I don't know why people are angry over this. It's not like that means you're going to have to buy it.
Angry Birds is a fun distraction, but it's nothing to get me hooked like how other people treat it like a drug.
Ever from since I first played it, I wondered why it hasn't been brought to Wii. The pointer controls should work rather well.
The Wii U version can practically be like the tablet versions of the game.
Sales-wise? May not be able to fill those big shoes.
But as it relates to overall software quality and quantity?
Maybe-so. I say this because the Wii U has even more potential than it's predecessor when it comes down to games. The GamePad opens up a whole new window of ideas and possibilities, that the Wii Remote & Nunchuck can't compete with.
We know Nintendo will put their best foot forward in showing off it's system - but ...
The number of quality games may not be vast, but the fact you can still transfer all your save-data, Wiiware/Virtual Console Purchases, and use ALL of the controllers and accessories, gives it a 1+ over the PS4. Not to mention the console can still play the physical discs of it's predecessor.
The amount of money invested into a user's original Wii no longer becomes obsolete, as that is now carried over to their new console.
Also, with the gaming droug...
