Hmmm - I wonder why third-party games don't sell at Wii U: Both Batman Arkham: Orgins and ACIV: Black Flag are listed, yet they make it seem like there's only a PS3 and 360 version available.
Good to see that Slightly Mad considers the Wii U to be 'next-gen' enough not to drop support. That's awesome.
Will be picking up this game!
For the past 5 generations, the weakest consoles have sold the most. Say hi to the NES, SNES, PSX, PS2, Wii, DS and the still-going-strong 3DS.
Specs don't make a system. Games do.
How many people do you REALLY think buy a console because it has XYZ amounts of RAM, or a super-powerful graphics card? You only need to - really - worry about that kind of stuff if you're buying a PC.
Nevertheless; with games like Trine 2, X, Bayonetta 2,...
While I like the idea - I'm still not sure exactly how this is going to play out.
PSP and Vita games are optimized to run on their native screen-size; the screen size of the handheld unit. Expanding that to display on a much larger screen is going to cut-down the visual quality. I hope they have a really sweet upscaler in there.
The insane difficulty of collecting the Green Stars in Mario Galaxy prove that it isn't casual-only.
Just because something doesn't have blood, gore, sexual content, profanity and high amounts of violence doesn't make it "hardcore". IMO - what makes a game "causal" vs. "hardcore" is its overall playability. To me, a casual game is a game that anyone can pick up and smoothly play, while a hardcore game is something a little more of th...
The eShop has been having some great discounts of retail games and indie titles for months now. As for the N games; they don't go down.
I guess its because there's not that much similar games. You need to discount something like CoD: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield, and Batamn - for example - because they all have direct competition. There's variation there. There isn't something essentially similar to Mario or Zelda.
Positive Wii U News = Barely over 100-degrees.
Had this been something like: "Wii U Bundles at Gamestop sell out - because there was only 10"; 300+ degrees.
I don't know how much more you expect them to lower the price. It's already $299. That puts it at $100 behind the PS4 and $200 behind the XBOX One.
That's 2 extra games ($100-value) or even 4 ($200).
Generation isn't defined by power. It's defined by time. Your parents are last-gen. You came after them, thus you came a generation after them (next-gen).
Even if power did define what "generation" a console is in; it surely hasn't help sell them. How so? Because for the last 5 generations - the weakest console of that generation has sold the most. Say hi to NES, SNES, PSX, PS2, Wii and DS. Even 3DS outpacing Vita can be applied here. Specs don't sel...
They've been slowly spinning off from the Wii for a while now. They ended game-support with the Kirby Collection. Then they ended support for its channels (Weather Channel, Nintendo Channel, News Channel). Now they're stopping production. Makes sense. The console isn't really selling in droves anymore. After the game blowout in '10, it basically dwindled after that.
Now they can turn attention to the Wii U completely. Once Wii is out of the picture, people ma...
You can't sell a video game console without video games.
I'm sure N wasn't expecting such a deep and long drought, but that has ultimately capped the sales. Yet, that hasn't sealed the console's fate. Just look at the 3DS, for example. Terrible launch. Not much games worth getting. So what did N do? Slash the price and release the big-hitters. Profit. Now it can't stop topping charts.
With Super Mario 3D World, M&S, and Wii Fit U ...
Apparently Nintendo had asked EA to help them build the Wii U's online infrastructure. EA agreed; but at the cost of powering it with their own service - Origin. After that, Nintendo turned them down. From since then, it seems that EA has been giving N two big thumbs down. Of course; this is all rumor - there have been no official confirmations from either side on its authenticity, and likewise, on its falsehood either.
Nevertheless, lets pretend that this IS completely t...
1.) Miiverse is actually an excellent idea. It's like a Facebook-Twitter hybrid except it's tailor-made for gamers. I don't see how its a BAD thing. Having Miiverse doesn't stop them from making unified accounts.
2.) The Wii U surpasses the PS3 in hardware. It surpasses both 360 and PS3. Just look at titles like Trine 2, BLOPS: II, , Arkham Origins and NFS: MWU, for example. It's up to developers to utilize the hardware properly (Super Mario 3D World, Pikm...
Well this shows that the system has life o it - just more so digital than physical. That's good, considering it's small install base and limited (included) space.
Wii has been selling mostly on brand-power. Everyone knows what a Wii is, and the casual titles like Just Dance, Disney Infinity, Zumba Fitness and Skylanders are still hovering around.
Wii U on the other hand has been getting confused with the Wii because shoppers are too lazy to research and retailers are too lazy to bother differentiating and likewise, Nintendo has not been aggressive enough (in terms of TV broadcasts, at least - as they have done a lot thus far) - to adve...
And yet they've been releasing one major title for the system since June. Pardon me - but what? The Wii U has been getting releases from since summer started. Next month alone is getting 3 first-party games. This month got 2 first-party titles and a 3rd-party exclusive, as well as a AAA multi-plat.
The games are there; now it's up to them to start promoting it.
EA dropped support for Wii eons ago and they've only released one game for the Wii U for the entire year and that was Need for Speed Most Wanted U. Best port the system has gotten yet (and one of the most well-made ports ever) - but it came a whole SIX MONTHS behind the other versions - other FOUR versions to be exact.
What does EA expect if they release half-baked/late ports and drop support? I don't feel bad for them. Yes, the system has struggled, but I don't c...
I would hope so.
And no - I don't mean that because I don't consider it to be "next-gen". I do, as it is an 8th-generation console, seeing that it is the successor to the Wii, which was a part of the 7th-generation.
Tech doesn't concern me, and doesn't even have anything to do with console generations anyway ~ but it's good to see another dev try and make some improvements on the new system. Many devs have simply been giving the ...
The definition of next-gen deals with the cycle in which a console is released. For instance, you succeed your parents, thus you are "next-gen", while your parents are "last-gen".
And even if it did; what does the tech inside of it matter? Specs don't make systems - games do. If specs sold systems, then why has the weakest system for the past 5 generations sold the most? NES, SNES, PSX, PS2, GC, Wii and DS say hi.
As for the Wii U its...
Well - put it this way: It just did 38K in Japan - outselling everything except 3DSXL.
The new Mario Bros. bundle sold out at both Target and Gamestop's websites.
Now, let's see what happens when Mario: 3D World, Smash 4 and Mario Kart 8 release.
Dead? Not likely.
