And with good reason too; he makes it a good chunk of the reason why the gaming industry still exists/ is as big as it is today.
People slam Miyamoto and Nintendo a lot - but they conveniently forget that if it weren't for them, the gaming industry may have very well ceased to exist, and even if it did carry on, it more than likely wouldn't be anywhere near the size it is right now.
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not - but unlike Sony and Microsoft; Nintendo hasn't been bleeding money when it comes to their hardware. (Excusing the Virtual Boy) ~ the Gamecube is their lowest selling home system to date, clocking in at just over 21 million units sold, and yet, they still made a profit off of that.
Sony as a whole, has been losing money like crazy for a good decade now, and are only NOW starting to sorta-kinda get on level ground. Yet e...
What? That's impossible! - The Wii U is supposed to be "doomed" !! (/s)
OT: Good news for Nintendo. It's great to see that their efforts have finally managed to push the console to turn a new leaf.
You basically summed up my blog in 4 paragraphs. Congrats. xD
- Makes low-budget launch title, it sells 700k + units: claims it didn't turn a profit.
- Announces another certain game to be an exclusive title for the launch of the system: delays it until February of the following year, then delays it AGAIN for 7 months and makes it a multi-plat for 5 other platforms.
- Releases watered-down, feature-less, optimized ports of games: complains about lack of profit.
- Fails to advertise said bad ports, t...
@Majin-Vegeta: Other than the Last of Us; which first-party exclusive from Sony or Microsoft has scored higher than Nintendo's? It's always been this way dude. It's not that Sony/Micro's franchises are bad, but Nintendo has a certain quality to them that 9/10 times, simply aren't matched.
Eh? - I find that hard to believe.
Mario Kart is just one of those games that practically ruin friendships...I mean, come on - when you get knocked by THIS THING while you're in first place, just about to cross the finish line - HOW ON EARTH IS THAT A STRESS RELIEVER?!
At this point in time - there shouldn't be any "confusion" - just simple things called laziness, and lack of common sense.
If I remember correctly... AC didn't really get much DLC on Wii U - not to mention the framerate was lower than it was on other systems, and that's with BOTH games.
Let's also remember the fact that AC is a series that has JUST started coming to Nintendo home systems; the Wii didn't get any AC games. The DS did, though.
If Indies can figure this out - Why can't 3rd-parties just give Nintendo gamers equal treatment? People honestly believe that 3rd-party games don't sell on Nintendo systems.... That couldn't be farther from the truth.
CRAPPY third-party games don't sell on Nintendo systems. When devs actually take the time out to disperse FAIR TREATMENT FOR ALL - good results follow. Thumbs up to Yacht Club!
Goodness! That's awesome.
If only it were the real deal, though...Regardless - who ever did this trailer has some serious skills.
I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Thankfully pCARS is still coming - although I still think it was a slap to the face by SMS to delay ONLY the Wii U version.
If this were something like Rayman Legends (a game from a third-party studio) - it wouldn't matter that much.
But the fact that this was CROWDFUNDED as a MULTIPLATFORM title, is where the problem lies. How on earth can you take people's money and then sign a contract to make the game exclusive to one platform? This is the kind of thing that will break Kickstarter. Honestly, aren't there any guidelines these people must follow when they're asking for mon...
@LOL_WUT
- Try having "limited editions" and DLC not including the Wii U version.
- Try barely advertising the Wii U version.
- Try un optimized ports (Splinter Cell Blacklist and ACIII & IV)
- Try promising an exclusive title, then 2 weeks before release announce a 7 month delay to bring it to 3 other platforms.
Need I go on? Ubi has given the support in number of games, but their quality lacks sorely.
Real mature dude, real mature. :|
And how is that an issue? LEGO City: Undercover is an entire 22GB. Wii U also supports 1TB external hard drives.
Next excuse. :P
Indies don't seem to have a problem, and Criterion brought the PC version of Most Wanted U to the system... I'm not too sure about PS3, but good grief, devs have been working with it for almost 10 years.
I have to wonder too - since Wii U uses the same PowerPC architecture as the 360.
Very strange . . .
The hell? Alright...Now we know that the PS3 and Wii U run on a different architecture than every other system, but still - Ports of games have been done QUITE EASILY on each platform, even the PS3 - which was hell for devs to code for back in the day.
So what on earth is this?
Not much of a surprise here.
Nintendo has dabbled in a lot of things in the 125 years it's been existence (yes, it's been that long); but gaming has surely been their ace-card. They practically SAVED the industry and made it their own. PlayStation has been the more successful brand sales-wise, true, but where did most of PS' audience start from? Nintendo. Sony themselves even admitted that it's still the same case today. After all, Nintendo is responsible for ...
