- The rate of game-releases has increased ten-fold.
- Miiverse has become a whole lot better.
- FOLDERS (!!!)
- Snappier and more stable OS
...That sums it up. Basically, it's improved in just about every area to make it a rather solid all-round system.
It's changed so much, I find it hard to believe this is the same system I bought 2 years ago. I love Nintendo’s response to any errors that pop up; less than a week, dang.
Got mine two years ago; but with the bundles that have been popping up - I really wished I waited. I had to survive on only Nintendo Land for about 5 months! I would've gotten 2 games if I waited; but alas, what's done is done.
In the end, now IS the time to purchase a Wii U. Nintendo's first-and-second party exclusives are the pinnacle of quality; the reviews speak for themselves.
I keep seeing people bring that up. The 360 had a one year head start too. What's the catch?
@Polloloco and @Concertoine
And the Dreamcast's shelf life was HOW long?
Either way; Nintendo is making a profit off of the system, not to mention they've been selling a steady stream of units from since MK8's release. We'll see just how "bad" it's selling after the Nov. and Dec. NPD results are posted.
But like I said - as long as N is making a profit, that's all that matters.
They've almost completely wiped clean all the losses they had during the last few months. The 3DS is making them money, as is the Wii U. They're also making a killing off of software for each.
They aren't making a "comeback" - they don't have to. They're doing what every company should; making a profit. If that's what's happening, then they're fine.
We won't know the full scope until the real intel from the NPD and Nintendo themselves are released.
Even so, though; I trust the system did well. The Wii U was on a lot of "trending items" lists, and was sold out in many retailers. Considering that Smash and Amiibo were just launched - that's bound to make a good boost.
My only real pet-peeve was the lack of sales on Wii U titles. I was quite bummed to have seen so few sales on games, while...
I seriously wonder what's going on with these. Did Nintendo really produce a small number of these; or are they just having trouble keeping up with the demand?
There was someone who made an interesting statement; I can't remember who it was, and I can't directly quote what they said - But he was basically saying that Nintendo is only relevant in the eyes of the journalists when they're losing money. Other than that, you never hear zip.
For instance; Wii U's have been selling like crazy the past few days, with all the sales that's been going on - in store after store. But, do you see ANY major news outlet covering...
And those issues fall in the laps of the developers; not the system. Look at NFS: Most Wanted U - now THAT is how you do a port, entirely.
Of course a new system would be dumb.
The Wii U is making a profit for Nintendo; and as long as it continues to do that, then there's no reason for it to be replaced. It has quite a number of amazing titles in it's library with dozens more coming.
At first; I was impressed, but after analyzing more footage, and now that we have a clearer comparison; it's quite obvious Ubi rushed this.
Look at Xenoblade Chronicles X; now THAT is an open-world title that both looks good, and runs smooth. The new Zelda also makes a damn good impression. The point is; Ubi has continued what they've been doing for a while now - rushing games, to make the bucks.
I STILL don't see why this took 6 months, but when...
Not the fault of the console; it's the fault of the developer. There are a bunch of games running at a smooth 30 frames, and even more so, 60 - on the U.
I agree with you, but; I still don't get this whole "small install base" thing, I keep seeing people say. When since is 7.5+ million units "small" ? x_x
This isn't surprising in the least.
The general view of this game is that it's an underwhelming off-shot of GTA. This is supported by user reviews and professional reviews.
On top of that, Ubisoft released this 6 months later, EXCLUSIVELY behind 5 other versions. And then to add insult to injury, they have the gall to charge full price.
This was a bad idea in the making. They had NO good reason to delay it for so long, and even mo...
Nintendo characters have a deeper heritage than the Skylanders and Disney Infinity characters. While Disney characters are popular; the Amiibo line-up is as much of a celebration of games as Smash is. That's what makes it a big deal.
At the end of the day; all three families are selling really well, so there isn't much of a problem here. The only "attitudes" you see, are the opinions of a few select people out of the dozens-of-thousands of purchasers.
Two of their best-selling titles in one bundle? That'd be an awesome bundle; but I think that's a bit too optimistic!
There's this little thing called an "early build". Ever heard of it?
His presentation was really good. Nintendo has always been about walking to the beat of their own drum; let the other guys fight over the same scraps of meat (like trying to get timed-exclusives and such). If Sony or Microsoft were put into N's shoes right now - they couldn't do it.
N's exclusives have stood the test of gaming time, and their quality and popularity have yet to deteriorate. Franchises like CoD and Assassin's Creed have only been around for a fe...
No, folders weren't implemented until a few months ago. The OS was stable to an extent, but crashes happened enough times to be a noticeable annoyance.
