@Lonnie18:
And see? You've actually just contributed to the issue here; you know nothing, so stop talking as if you do. We have NO idea what Nintendo is doing with other developers. This ONE guy didn't get a dev-kit, but does that speak for the entire development community?
He's an indie-dev, not someone who's a part of Ubisoft, Activision, EA or another major company, so Nintendo meeting his demands automatically falls under "low-pri...
Did you see the series of tweets from a former PlayStation exec who commented on the matter? The fine gentleman put it nicely; that Ori dev is acting far too entitled.
We know next to nothing about the NX. Hardly anyone *actually* does. So all the articles have been nothing more than speculation and rumors. It's one thing to be pessimistic about situation with facts, but it's another thing to feel the same way about something that nobody knows about.
I agree with the addition of Lost World. It wasn't perfect, but neither was it a bad game. Heck, when you have games like Sonic 06' and Rise of Lyric, calling it a bad game would be an INSULT.
Saying "it should have been here in 2006 with the Wii" doesn't help anyone. That was 10 years ago.
They DID learn something when Wii U came around, because now we're getting it on our Wii U's and 3DS'. These things take time to make. As the saying goes: "Better late than never."
You say "too little too late", okay then, would you rather not have them at all?
The reason why third-party devs were turned off by the system was primarily because it used mini-discs instead of DVDs.
BurnOut Paradise would like to have a word with you...
And really, their 2 NFS projects were pretty decent.
I wouldn't say they're rushing, the industry just WANTS them to rush it out. But doing that won't help; the NX will still be starting with a userbase of 0. Nintendo's predicament is getting that number to rise quickly.
How are they going to convince those who haven't bought a PS4/XBO yet that it's their system that should be the only one in the living room? And how are they going to not piss off the existing Wii U userbase to make sure they continue ...
It's getting beyond annoying to see the word "failure" being continuously slammed on the Wii U. For any product to be a "failure" that means it's a liability to its company.
Yes, the system definitely had a rough start — I was there since 2012. However, after late 2013 things gradually started to pick up. Wii U began to break even almost 2 years ago. It hasn't been as successful as the Wii nor is it selling at the same rate as its current co...
Even with all the whining from fans, it actually impressed Digital Foundry. I'm surprised, considering these guys can be pretty blunt for the most part.
Tantalus did a good job considering that this was only done because Zelda U got delayed. That means this was more than likely whipped up in roughly one year; not bad at all.
I find it interesting that when the NX is mentioned, so many people want it under their TVs YESTERDAY, but yet when the PS5 is mentioned, suddenly it's "too young" and "next-gen is so far off."
You folks are interesting.
The heat on this article proves how much people love to eat up negative news. What's even more facepalm worthy is that this is talking about a glorified Google Street View hybrid application that was more of a fun experiment than an actual useful service.
N4G's mods are WAY too inconsistent. This can get approved and sent flying up to the front page, and other articles that are just mere opinion pieces get flagged and terminated for being "flamebait"? Ser...
"People can rave about the ease of making multiplats happen quickly with the right tech, but even with powerful tech in it, no one's going to get the NX just to re-purchase old ports of already-released multiplats that they already own elsewhere. "
Someone give this man a medal.
The biggest influential factor on whether or not they'll support the platform is still a matter of sales. If the console is successful and the userbase is active, then third-parties are gonna flock to it. Even if the architecture is still weird, trust me, they'll find a way to do it because they want that money; they dealt with the PS3's CELL processor didn't they?
The issue is that third-parties haven't been on good terms with Nintendo for a while and N...
That's a point I've been making for a while now. Everyone wants Nintendo to cut and run away from the Wii U and launch the NX, but if it launches this year or next year, it's still going to have to fight against the other systems.
Right now, there 55+ million rival consoles out on the market. By the time the NX launches, there could be 60 or even 65 million. *Assuming* third-parties are interested, they have to gamble that massive install base for something tha...
I've been an owner since the very beginning (I picked up the system in December 2012)
If its exclusive library interests you, then yes. You can find awesome deals online and sometimes in-stores. It also has a few awesome multi-platform titles such as the LEGO games and Need for Speed Most Wanted U.
It's a great system for anyone who's simply looking to have fun, and nobody can touch Nintendo in the game creation department. If you like Ninten...
LEGO City Undercover would like to have a word with you.
That game needs a sequel so badly.
See what I mean? That's why I have to laugh at the constant doom and gloom that the Wii U (and Nintendo in general) gets bombarded with.
While everyone's throwing snide remarks and insults, they're sitting back making buckets of green. #YouCanBeQuietNow
The Wii was the first console I ever owned, and this was the first Zelda game I ever finished. I actually cried (I was 14) when it ended because I didn't want it to end. I put 70+ hours into it over the period of a few months, all because my friend basically MADE me play it (I had no real interest in Zelda prior to this)
I'm not sure if I'll get it again here on Wii U, but the call of nostalgia is definitely getting louder!
Well, you need to look at it this way: Nintendo handled WWHD, not this.
All Tantalus did was simple work so that it would look decent on an HD screen, as well as add in some new features to make some use of the Gamepad. If Zelda U actually came out last year like it was intended to, there's a chance we may not even got this.
It's simply just another distraction to keep Zelda fans happy until the next big game finally drops.
I still find it amazing that an apparent Nintendo employee who as access to such information, would confide in a simple blogger. I mean seriously, Nintendo's execs are keeping secrets from most employees in the company, yet this member of personnel thought it would be okay to share this information with a blogger?
That just seems pretty darn backward to me, and the fact that he took everything down proves that either him or the both of them must have gotten into some ho...
