@superchiller:
Out of all these flavors, you choose to be salty.
I got the game on launch day, and honestly, I'm fine with it. The controls do have a learning curve, but it's definitely not unplayable. I honestly think some of these reviewers are just letting their negative bias of motion controls (coughcough Polygon coughcough) get in the way of their judgement.
I found that switching the TV view to show the cockpit was very reminiscent to Splatoon, and so that's how I adjusted. Different strokes for different folks, I guess...
The game is actually $50. It's only $60 when you get the bonus edition that comes with Star Fox Guard.
Has nothing to do with "apologizing". People have been trying to get hits off of being negative sensationalists with this system pretty much since it was less than a year old.
The unnecessary and downright absurd level of whining got old eons ago, and yet, this site still proves to be the #1 cesspool for it all.
Wait, so ONE person is suddenly the face of a console's reputation?
Ahahahahahaha

Okay.
I'm the author, thanks for commenting.
- I never said consoles were trying to compete with PCs. I said that consoles have become CLOSER to PCs. Up until this generation, consoles have pretty much always been at the bleeding-edge of technology.
- The Xbox 360 and PS3 were capable of 1080p/60frames, but on very rare occassions. Now the PS4 and XBO are TRYING to hit that level, and it's been very hit-and-miss on the XBO. The PS4 has done better, but ...
Console generations last for 5-6 years. It's been this way for 30 years. THAT's why it's so significant. If incremental upgrades start becoming the norm, then that kills one of the most attractive features about console gaming.
Mario Kart 8 and Smash were also co-developed by Bandai. And then we have the exclusive partnerships:
Bandai Namco - Pokken and Temco Koei - Hyrule Warriors (New uses of Nintendo IP)
Platinum - The Wonderful 101 (New IP)
Platinum - Bayonetta 2, Valhalla Games - Devil's Third, TT Games - LEGO City Undercover (Funding titles)
@kranek12
Who's been screaming for it? The only thing I've seen, ESPECIALLY on this site, is people treating the PS4 like it's the best thing since sliced bread.
One of the biggest complaints that people have REPEATEDLY brought up about the Wii U is that not even Nintendo themselves have made major use of the Gamepad, aside from a few rare occassions. Now they go ahead and do it, and yet people STILL complain. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."
The controls have a learning curve to them; you either get good at it, or don't. I also think they wanted to make it special considering the fact that it's been 10...
When on earth did 7.5 become a bad score? You people are too much, honestly.
You missed my point. The fact that those systems weren't as popular as the SNES and Genesis just goes to show that power isn't everything. The Neo Geo had the best specs, but at the cost of being really expensive, thus leading it to being a cult-classic at best. It was still released in the same time period, thus making it a part of the same generation—the 4th. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
As Concertoine has already brought up, those weren't the only consoles in existence at the time.
You should watch Extra Credits' "Why Console Specs Don't Matter" video:

The PS4 is the first console to win a generation while being the most powerful. Take a look back at any generation before the 8th, and you'll see that its usually the system with the least power to sell the most.
All I hope for is that the NX is powerful enough and easy enough so that developers can finally shut up about it being "too hard" to develop for Nintendo platforms. That isn't to say that they will automatically start flocking over, but it would a...
Remember why it was able to hit that number so quickly; the thing had been marked down to as low as $60+ in a lot of retailers.
Exactly. I'm sure this was no easy task, especially considering the fact that is is a FAST paced action game, with effects flying everywhere. Yes, the overall visual quality took a hit, but they still did a great job nonetheless. I have yet to come across a single preview which spoke ill of the game, so I expect some 7s, 8s and maybe even a few 9s.
So the game is technically running at 1200p? Dang.
As someone who's sunk so much hours into Splatoon, I'm totally game to use the second screen. I don't care about the visual quality; you're playing the game to have fun, not to sit there and masturbate to the screen.
Wow, where'd you get your crystal ball? Or is it the TARDIS? No, no, you must have a DeLorean.
