It's a privilege, my friend. Appreciate it!
"The Switch can barely handle its own games." Excuse me, but what are you getting at? The WIi U titles that have been ported to the Switch so far have all been enhanced, and the original new games that are coming out are the best-looking titles that Nintendo has produced to date.
The Switch is no PS4, but it does have the power to produce very good looking games at native HD resolutions. Not to mention a lot of titles run at 60FPS, making it even better. It's ...
Has nothing to do with being offended. I wrote this article because I noticed that some folks were calling the Switch a handheld system as a way to demean it, which didn't make sense to me.
The Switch is more capable than a PS3, 360 and Wii U, while also having the form factor of a tablet. It's hybrid functionality gives it the ability to transform from a home console when docked to a TV to a portable system. That's similar to having a gaming laptop displaying o...
The Switch has simple titles, but those are on the other platforms too: they're called indie games. The "last-gen" looking games that you speak of...where are they? Most PS3/360 games were rendered in sub-HD resolutions. That's BELOW 720p. It's primarily first-party titles that were actually rendered in either 720p or the very rare 1080p. Most Switch games are 720p at the least and are also 60FPS. In all cases, it's a decent improvement over the previous generation o...
And as I stated in the article, the PSP (and any other handheld) were simply not designed with that functionality to be at the forefront. Take any DS, 3DS, PSP, Vita or GBA game and stretch it out on the TV and then it becomes obvious that those titles are truly meant for the small screen first and foremost.
The Switch was completely designed with the hybrid functionality in mind. It immediately transitions from portable to docked mode and back again, with the visual fidel...
The PSP and GameBoy were never marketed as home systems, my friend. They were always marketed as portables, with the added ability to display the games on a TV screen if you would like. If you want to go by that logic, then any phone/tablet that can be connected to a bigger display must also be a home unit too.
The Switch is the first system to ever be truly described as a hybrid platform. Nintendo itself classifies it as "home system" first with the ABILITY to h...
If you go by the headline of every article and never actually read the body, then the only "narrow-minded" viewpoint is your own.
Since you didn't want to read the article, fine, I'll just sum up my thoughts. Basically my point is that out the three "new" systems that have just hit/about to hit the market, the Switch is really the best choice for the general consumer. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X satisfy a very niche market (the enthusiast gamers ...
Read the headline again, my friend. It says "NEW" console—as in, recently released systems.
Um excuse me what? Dude, did Nintendo kill your dog and kick you out of your house? Take a chill pill.
Secondly, Nintendo does not need the media to keep itself "relevant". In fact, seeing that the Switch has managed to attract millions of customers, many of which haven't purchased a Nintendo system in eons, that goes to show that the company itself is doing just fine with generating business.
You can go on-and-on about what you THINK 'c...
Read the article, whydontcha?
The reason why any online service is discontinued is due to server costs. Servers are very expensive, so if a service is not being used enough to balance out the cost then it becomes a liability to the company that's running it. So, they shut them down to save money.
It's definitely going to become a bigger problem when we eventually completely switch over to digital distribution; we've already had digital-only games that have basically disappeared forever due t...
The Wii had an install base of 100+ million, that's why it lasted this long.
Try reading the article.
Great, you missed the point. Try again, bud.
Some counter-arguments for the points you listed:
Price - Switch is $300. How much is an iPad or high-end smartphone? $500+
Accessories - You don't NEED any accessories, they're optional. Besides, every device has accessories, including consoles.
Online Multiplayer - Nothing's wrong with the Switch's current online network. It's not as advanced as PSN/XBL, but it's certainly manageable. And with the upcoming prem...
It's not "reaching" anything - it's the truth. The Nomad and PSP were PORTABLE systems. They were never classified as anything else. The Switch is officially defined as a "portable HOME GAMING SYSTEM" - aka: a hybrid.
No, neither the Nomad or PSP were hybrids. There are some similarities, but the Switch stands as its own platform, only being complimented by the 3DS for the time being.
The Switch is a more powerful system than the Wii U. That's been confirmed time and time again, so stop gushing this stupid drivel.
Is it as powerful as the PS4 or XBO? No, and nobody should expect that considering it's a hybrid and not a standard system. But regardless, Wii U games looked pretty gorgeous despite running on older hardware. A someone who owned the system throughout its life, I was never disappointed by the fidelity. And before you get on my case, I ...
Can't compare. The Switch is a hybrid system, using mobile technology instead of standard computer parts like what's found in the PS4/Pro/XBO & X. More powerful mobile chipsets are out there, but that would have upped the price significantly, which Nintendo is against doing.
This isn't a news story, it's an article that I wrote. Just wanted to share my experience of being a gamer outside of a country like the USA.
