@-EDMIX:

"The point is the switch is weaker than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Top of being more expensive than those platforms currently are."

Um, my dude, are you kidding me? The original PS4 and Xbox One were released nearly FOUR YEARS AGO. As is the case with every system, their prices have dropped due to aging. With that said, it should be a no-brainer that the Switch, a system that is only 6 months old, is more expensive. Like, why is ...

@SuperChiller:

Don't even try it, buddy.

The company which made the system classifies it as a home console. Who has the final authority on what a product is? Obviously the creators! So, with that being the case, the Switch is a home console that can be used on-the-go. I don't see 3DS games being ported to the Switch. Rather, I see Wii U games. What is the Wii U? Oh, that's right, a home console! Speaking of 3DS, how is it "essentially dea...

I still don't get this argument that Nintendo overcharges for its products. The PS4 and PS4 Pro launched at $400. The Xbox One and Xbox One X launched at $500. The Switch has launched at $300 and its manufacturing costs are around $250+. So, where's the overpricing there?

I had to buy an Xbox One controller recently and since Microsoft forgot that it's now 21st century and internal battery packs exist, I had to get the 'Xbox Charge & Play Kit'. That ...

The Switch is not a traditional portable.

Nintendo itself classifies the Switch as a home console first-and-foremost with the truly technical classification being a HYBRID system. It's up to the user to decide whether they want to play at home or on-the-go. Some use one mode exclusively while others swap between the two. That's the beauty of the system.

Nintendo has a portable system—it's called the 3DS.

Sony has gotten its fair share of criticism, too. They're no saints. Remember how arrogant they were with the PS3? After the massive success of the PS2, the company got a big head which is something they definitely regretted later. The PS3 wasn't a flop of course, but it did bring some controversy upon Sony due to its complicated architecture and incredibly high launch price. That's why the PS4 came out of the gate so strong—because Sony had to learn a lot of lessons from the PS3....

"Overpriced hardware/software" - Switch costs $300. PS4 Pro is $400 and Xbox One X is $500. It's the cheapest of all the newly-released systems.

"Chasing casuals" - Where's the games like Wii Sports or Wii Fit? 1-2 Switch is the closest thing to games like those, and it's come and gone.

"Still motion controls" - All Switch titles that have implemented motion controls have used them as an optional feature, not mand...

I'll say this again because you don't seem to get it—I write for the Enthusiast Gaming Network. Check my post history: I do articles on PlayStation, Xbox and PC Enthusiast in addition to Nintendo Enthusiast. I've written both positive and negative articles about ALL of the platforms. Some of my articles even got called out because they had a negative tone despite the "Enthusiast" label. I give credit where credit is due and critique wher...

Why are you even here in this comment section, then? If you don't care about Nintendo or the Switch, why waste time always spewing your negative thoughts? WHAT does that accomplish, honestly?

Just let it go man. All you do is regurgitate your same old, tired arguments constantly. You're not making any cohesive points; all your comments basically boil down to: "I hate Nintendo. I think the Switch sucks. Rant-rant-rant-rant-rant-rant. .."

Hi, I'm the author.

I wrote this article speaking from a purely technical perspective. The Wii was not able to run most of the games that came to the PS3/360 due to the massive difference in power. The Switch, on the other hand, is a weaker system, but it has a modern architecture and just enough power to handle a lot of today's titles (albeit with some downgrades).

That's the angle I was coming from with this article. Hope that clears things...

Hi, I'm the author.

The idea behind this article is that the Wii not in the same league as the PS3/360 from a technical perspective, so a lot of the multiplatform games that it got were either watered down or completely different from the other versions. Some games couldn't even be brought over due to the technical limitations.

While the Switch also isn't as powerful as the PS4/Xbox One, the difference in power is A LOT smaller now. The system...

I understand that. I appreciate attention-to-detail too. My point was, the headline of this article is a textbook example of sensationalism. On top of that, some of the comments here are WAY too enthusiastic.

Not saying that this isn't neat. It's just so tiny and forgettable, yet look at how popular the article is here on N4G. I just find it very weird.

Wow, the flashlight is shining through the grill, thus casting a shadow! Superb! Amazing! Such beauty!

Okay, let's be serious here. It's more realistic, yes, but a "major difference"? Um...seriously? A tiny detail as this is considered 'major'?

Honestly starting to think you must be paid to patrol this site looking for each and every Nintendo-related article to find some way to spin it negatively. And if you're not being paid to do this, then buddy...I feel sorry for you.

Yes, let's just keep blowing things out of proportion, shall we?

If you wanna play the "Switch is just a handheld with a dock" game, then I guess I can play the 'PS4/Xbox One are just weak PCs with no upgrades' game. See how that works? Also, the Switch is NOT being sold for the same price as those systems. They were both released FOUR years ago and costed $100 more (PS4) and $200 more (Xbox One) than the Switch does now. (Wow, technology gets cheaper...

A gaming laptop costs less than a desktop all because of the portability factor. Creating powerful devices that are also mobile is rather complex.

The Switch is not as advanced as the PS4/XBO but it has enough power to run modern engines. I mentioned this in the article. If you want the best graphics for a console, multimedia features and mainly play at home, then a PS4 or Xbox One are fine. If you don't mind simpler visuals and like the flexibility that a portable devi...

As the high sales of indie games prove, Nintendo gamers are not only interested in first-party games. There are a variety of games on the platform that suit all types of gamers.

"The console itself is overpriced based on its specs." That's so far from the truth.

Nintendo made price-conscious decisions when constructing the Switch. They managed to get the manufacturing costs just under the retail price. All it takes is a simple Google search to find out that the manufacturing costs $257. https://www.polygon.com/201...

This article is not about PCs, it's strictly about consoles.

I wasn't making a direct comparison. The Switch is a hybrid system so flash memory was the only option. Adding a hard drive would have been impossible, obviously. With that said, you CAN store multiple games on the Switch's default storage, though— just depends on the size.

Certain games do require microSD cards, but they are not the majority. In fact, so far only ONE game explicitly requires it and the console has been out for six months. I've said it before an...
