That argument is flawed. It doesn't matter the power of the hardware, what matters is how easy it is to work with.
A good example is the PS3. It was more powerful than the 360, but it was a nightmare to program for because of the Cell architecture. That's why a lot of multiplat games ran worse on the PS3 compared to 360.
So with the Switch, it's the same thing. It's not as powerful as the PS4, but it's easy to work with. For instance, ...
Article doesn't mention how significant the power increase is over Wii U; simply says that it's "Between Wii U and Xbox One."
We already knew it was more capable than the U. MK8 now runs at 1080p/60fps, vs 720p. FAST RMX also got a big increase, quickly switching between 1080p and 900p (Shin'en has stated that a firmware update to the Switch will allow the game to run at 1080p all the time). It was 720p (sort of) on Wii U.
Interesting...I wonder if people are gonna complain about this game getting perfect scores like they've been complaining about Breath of the Wild.
Because this one happens to be a PS4 exclusive, I guess any perfect scores are automatically justified and purely factual, and aren't because of hype and nostalgia, right? Oh boy...
I hope you said the same thing during the PS4 and XBO's first year.
This is what I've been wondering amidst all the Switch complaints: did everyone just forget that the 360 had this whole RROD fiasco? EVERY system has a few defective units at launch, but the 360 was a complete disaster for its first few years. Nobody should have to be replacing their system two or three times over because of a hardware failure.
PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, Wii U...they all had their issues at launch too. We don't have the percentage for the Switch's fail...
@Superchiller:
Nobody's changing the subject. The video shows that even the mighty PS4 had similar problems at launch.
Newsflash: ALL systems have launch issues. It's impossible to create perfectly functioning hardware 100% of the time.
Just gonna leave this here...

For all the people who are just LOVING this video, the same creator also did one for the PS4 launch too:

Pro-tip: Every system has launch issues. EVERY, SINGLE, ONE. Stop pretending like this is the first time something like this has happened.
- The hardware isn't expensive. At $300, it costs less than the PS4 and Xbox One did at launch. It costs less than the PS4 Pro does now, and what the Scorpio will cost later this year. Also, it may not be as powerful, but it fully supports big engines like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity.
- The accessories are expensive, that I can't deny. Even so, it's not incredibly more than a Dualshock 4 or Xbox One controller.
- The battery life is NOT average...
For those who are trying to be slick, this guy wasn't trying to be the first in the world to get the Switch. It's symbolic. His goal was to be the first to receive it at the Nintendo of America launch event.
Every console has launch issues. That's hardware in general; first batch of anything usually has some defective units.
A PS4 Pro and Horizon would run you $460 dollars, not including tax. A Switch is $300; that's a $100 difference.
Like any other product, it's FOMO: Fear of Missing Out.
People always want to be one of the first to have a new item. Although consoles are made to have longevity, so it's always a slow burn anyway. Even so, people get caught up in the hype.
Put it this way, this is still more memory than what you get on some phones/tablets. Buying microSD cards is inexpensive, so there's no real reason to complain. Flash memory is expensive (which is why they didn't add more), but not physical cards.
If there are a million negative opinion pieces, why do you need to comment on the fact that there are more positive ones? Just because you don't agree with someone's views, doesn't mean that makes their opinion not worth it.
Life lesson for ya.
Wow, you own a crystal ball? Tell me my future too! /s
It's not cherry-picking, it's the truth.
People are freaking out over this as if no other game has DLC.
- The system's first year is surprisingly strong. Nintendo has delibrately seperated the big titles by a few months to keep momentum rolling: Zelda to kick things off, MK8 a few weeks later (one of the biggest franchises in history), Splatoon 2 sometime in the summer (the last one was a huge system-seller), Xenoblade 2 in sometime in the Fall (perhaps), and then Super Mario Odyssey for the holidays (guaranteed system-seller).
- It doesn't have a lot of multimedia f...
The gaming community: "Nintendo needs to modernize and be more like the other companies!"
-- Nintendo does a modern thing --
Also the gaming community: "What?!?!? Why would Nintendo do this?! Doomed!"
Not really. This is the Unleashed formula that was used in Colors and Generations.
