I mean, that applies to a huge swath of photography. Sidewalks, buildings, parks....They were outright created by people, or their design influenced the ebb and flow of it.
I'd also argue that as games get more and more advanced, with interactions within the environment and other objects become more physics-driven (aka: results that may be harder to reproduce because of a lack of "canned" animations) that we are going to get more and more breathtaking shots. ...
The winning shot is good, but there are a bunch in there that are even better (in my opinion). The shot of Aloy sitting and reclined back in the tall grass is absolutely gorgeous, The VW centered on a reflective lake (I think) is equally amazing.
The winning one does make sense though, has an old-timey, classic feel to it that is still damned impressive.
I think competitions like this are super fun, especially as photo modes get better and better.
I think the first one was a tighter, more focused game. both were a breath of fresh air in such a cramped genre.
Arkane's Prey was impeccable. I loved the first Wolfenstein reboot, Titanfall2 was a surprise. I suppose you can find a bunch of excellent titles, but it's obviously incredibly subjective.
Man, if we are worried about the untimely death of single-player shooters, I can't even fathom the discussion regarding the fate of 3rd person, fixed camera titles with tank controls.
Arkane's Prey was one of the best games I've played this decade. Such a criminally overlooked game.
I love how you got a disagree even though what you said was completely valid. All of this harkens back to the perceived "value" of a game purchase if you can "only" get 12-20 hours of gameplay out of its main story. If developers want a tight, refined single-player title with a well-told story that doesn't outstay its welcome, they should be allowed to make one. But time and time again, people shell out their money for the Uibosoft "map o' icons" and thin...
I love both of those games so damned much. Basically "Se7en: The Game".
I love how quick people are willing to lay blame on the developers. You are absolutely right. It's the morons that vote with their wallets and ask loudly why their COD or Battlefield "even bothers" with Single Player. And guess what? these publishers follow those trends. They see the completion metrics, and if a huge majority of paying customers don't bother with single player, they will change their strategy. What's most hilarious is how it's often the people who co...
By time travel, do you mean "Singularity"? because that game was absolutely wonderful.
stuck behind like Nintendo? have you seen their switch sales figures?
Sony dipped their toes with the original PSP, and it was a rather confident first step into something that could be great. And with the Vita, it just didn't get the support it needed. I remember feeling strange when I heard that Uncharted: Golden Abyss wasn't going to be developed by Naughty Dog. I felt like that would have shown other developers to get serious about the portable. And don't even get me ...
I get it, though. I think as the years go by, hindsight truly is 20/20. They had a powerful console, two analog sticks, and the overwhelmingly potential to be a mobile powerhouse and they squandered it in spectacular fashion.
People also have to realize that at the time, mobile gaming was exploding. It was this rather well-founded fear that Candy Crush, Angry Birds, and Fruit Ninja were basically the templates for how gaming on a mobile device was to be consumed. Nintendo, through sheer stubbornness, managed to (somewhat) weather the storm, but everyone was jumping on the Ios/android bandwagon and developing basically a WarioWare minigame worth of content and adding microtransactions.

"and my opinions are completely objective"
that's not how opinions work.
Deathdeliverer wrote a very detailed post about their thoughts and feelings. They mentioned that these are their opinions, and opinions are subjective. Bloodborne is a more refined game. Elden Ring is solid, but Bloodborne's particular flair was just refreshing to those of us who perhaps hadn't played From's earlier works and wanted to dip our toes into something challenging and intriguing.
Sometimes, when a game decides on its own style of layout, such as usin...
This looks cool!
I've wondered that, too. But I think at this point, they almost *have* to double down on their own ineptitude.
Their lead designer and studio head is the ultimate hypeman for an act that will never show.
I genuinely N4G would make it so that you'd have to take a short quiz on the content of the article before being able to comment on it.
Wow.
I want these guys to succeed, but the thing is, by making exceptions to how they played this out would be enabling similarly suspicious behavior from developers who actually do want to scam people.
Blue Box needs to understand that "Perception = Reality".
I know that the Silent Hill HD "remaster" isn't the biggest offender on this list, but because I hold those games so dearly to my heart, the horrific end-product by an indifferent studio felt like a personal attack on some of the greatest "gaming years" of my life.
