I liked the first two games, with Rise being one of my favorites. The first in the new trilogy felt a bit too "try-hard" for me. It was still super fun, but it came across as Tomb Raider: Warrior Within for me.
I thought the second one had absolutely gorgeous locales, some of the best art direction I've ever seen.
I'm making my way through the third one, and only about 5 hours in and something feels super off about it. It is a slog, an...
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Solid game, but nowhere near as good as Butcher Bay.
I've always found that interesting. I honestly do not get why brand familiarity somehow equates a quality experience over the unknown and inherently "alien" attributes of a new IP.
I mean, it's Ivy.
Ivy is responsible for getting a whole generation of gamers through the tumultuous years of puberty.
So, basically, It's a steal at that price.
Visually, it looks quite nice. But man does that gunplay look stiff and bland.
I friggin love Gamepass, and I'm a huge Sony fanboy.
I have a huge backlog of games to get through, and GP is absolutely perfect for it.
I loved the first Bioshock, but the third one was super disappointing. It definitely felt like Levine jumped the shark in so many facets of its design.
I really respect and appreciate what Levine has done in game development, so it saddens me to see when stuff like this goes down.
Eh, I thought I had more to say, but you've encapsulated everything rather well!
he actually doesn't game, either. So he must be really lost.
I never played Infinite Warfare, so I can't speak on that. But I really liked Advanced Warfare. The campaign was also super solid.
Yeah. It is that important.
For me, it's collect-a-thons. They weren't fun in Donkey Kong or Banjo and Kazooie and they still aren't fun now. Why create these wonderfully oversized, detailed worlds if you are going to just supplement gameplay with ambiguous item fetch-quests.
There are exceptions, of course, But by and large, it just shows laziness on the part of the developer.
Good article, by the way!
agreed. As long as they don't try to throw in that "point and execute" system. That ruined the series for me.
I was kind of disappointed with the trailer. As much as I love Dead Space, I don't want my Silent Hill to be Dead Space.
Love being called an Xbot when all I've bought are Sony's consoles.
I said "not many other" not "there are NO other games". One is an absolute, another is an estimate of a few.
Gran Turismo is a nearly 30 year old franchise. The other games you've mentioned are not.
Remember, I am *not* stating that these games are "bad", obviously, they are not.
But you are making it sound like Polyphony are...
@Badz149
I don't think the color palette lends itself to making Forza unrealistic........It's an arcadey-racer.
The color palette has nothing to do with it.
because there aren't many other racing sims out there, especially on console.
More importantly, why do you feel sales equal quality?
By that metric, Mcdonald's must make some god-like hamburgers.
That's not to say that Gran Turismo isn't an incredible series, but COD and Madden do gangbusters (usually) and some of my favorite games are ones that sold rather poorly.
they have a visual "budget" to stick to, and so they need to pick and choose what is modeled and detailed and what is not.
The issue I have is that Polyphony overworking certain details and ignoring other areas. They remind me of that one guy in art class who can draw a super realistic eye, but can't for the life of them, depict a human face.
I love how adding color magically means that something is unrealistic.
@EvertonFC
Do you not notice trees while driving? or buildings? or pedestrians?
As far as games go, and especially Gran Turismo, I sure as hell will notice the environment I'm driving through far more than whatever meticulously detailed array of 3d-modeled bulbs are housed in the headlamps.
Definitely not "just" black men. If you ever decide to hop on the hellscape that is TikTok, you'll see a preference for larger or "thicc" women, some racking up hundreds of millions of views.
I'm white, from Detroit, and like a bigger woman. The Jill here maybe just a tad "too" big for my liking, but I can attest that the body style is something that is seen as attractive by more than just "black men".
While I can a...
