Beyond Good and Evil aged just fine, as did the original Psychonauts. Visually, sure, a bit rough (though both have a wonderfully refreshing art style that more than makes up for actual "visual fidelity".)
I'd say that you really need to give both of these games another shot. Psychonauts is one of the most original and utterly creative games I've ever played, and it's also one of the funniest as well. Psychonauts 2 was even better, and basically, a (we...
Basically the age-old answer to the question, "what does a day in the life of Korben Dallas look like?"
When people speak of "polar opposites", they mean opposite ends of a spectrum.
I don't see many if just clamoring at the bit to claim this game is GOTY material (which, if they "loved" it, they would be doing).
The reception has been negative, with some of the more middling scores giving faint praise while ultimately giving it a mediocre score.
Game design dictated by suits rather than actual designers was always going to falter after enough people caught on.
It's not even "design by committee", it's just spreadsheets and powerpoints of bankable game "features" that make them more money.
Listen, EA hasn't always been this way. They are a scummy bunch, but they took way more risks back in the 6th gen (xbox, gamecube, ps2) that was honestly awesome to see.
Here...
Pot, meet Kettle.
I felt the need to login here and say to PorkChop: I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Seriously. That is absolutely heartbreaking. I made a comment below that didn't outright claim she was lying, but that the timing was suspicious, and my entire family has been through a lot as well and things can change so quickly. I honestly regret making that comment.
I'd rather believe that she has a medical emergency rather than call her out and be wrong, because, at the en...
I *really* do not want to be a prick. I hope her family is okay HOWEVER....This happening right as hundreds of articles and reports are circulating about the state of the game and the studio's incompetence is hard for me to not see as related to each other.
In some articles, it sounds like she was planning on retiring soon, regardless.
I hope her family is okay, and I of course wish no ill will towards her and that particular studio. It's a friggin game r...
this looks fascinating!
very cool!
@Crows90 Absolutely false. Reviewers are providing their review of a game, and that review will *always* be subjective. Opinions cannot be objective.
The only time a review can be "objective" is with actual metrics, like discussing the game engine, and the tech driving it. A game reviewer saying that the game has "realistic animation" is not an objective statement.
Honestly, I don't know how old you are, but this is what worries ...
I adore their version of Prey, and I think calling it that was a huge disservice to the game. Too much baggage around that title. Prey 2's bounty hunter-style thing made a bit more sense, but neither game seemed to have any real ties to the x360 original.
Watch Dogs did not start this trend.
Just Cause 2 was one of the first games I remember where the maps themselves included a legend, and EGM and Game Informer had a tearaway map that could be folded and used like a normal map.
It was a huge part of their marketing campaign.
From there, the obligatory comparisons between Arkham City and Arkham Knight, and obviously Bethesda loved to talk about how big Skyrim was to Morrowind, but it really wasn't a c...
I remember when the size and scope of a game were like a super big thing. I don't know if I just got old, or the marketing speak just kind of wore out its welcome, but scale means absolutely nothing to me anymore. It's great that they are aiming for grandiosity, but man do I miss smaller, tighter experiences that have been polished to perfection.
I'd honestly be more impressed and excited if a developer said, "our game takes place on Alcatraz, and we'v...
What a breath of fresh air. Love what I'm seeing thus far.
Me: “Alexa tell that zombie he’s a bitch”
Alexa: “Okay. Playing whale sounds for sleeping”
?
I know, right? Ever since Kim left him, he hasn't been the same.
"Lately" is probably a 10-12 year break.
I was a gamer, and gamed alot. Haven't lately, and got GamePass about 6 months ago, and I friggin love it. Love seeing some smaller indie games that I can play comfortably without worrying about sinking hundreds of hours into like I did when I was younger.
So yes, "non-gamers" will see incredible appeal in gamepass. So far, GamePass reminds me a bit of the good ol' Xbox Live Arcade days, and that's never a bad thing.
You make it sound like the voice actor is going to be paid 4k a month. It's a one-and-done paycheck. The programmer has a monthly salary.
God, what a bad take.
