People are saying the 5090 is only 30% faster than the 4090 already.. so IDK, need to wait for benchmarks.
The 5070Ti is still looking like the sweet spot anyway... But as expected from rumours, the 5080 and 5090 have a big gap between them.
This generation is certainly not like 3080 vs 3090 where the 3080 was only a bit slower but much less vram.
Well if those "99%" wanna stay on really low end hardware then that's their choice.
PC gets an awful lot of high end games for a platform that "hardly anyone" has the hardware to run well.
It's probably "good enough" for a few years, Nvidia have a habit of giving you just enough if anything below the very top card these days.
Lots of apparent info that there's going to be a huge upgrade in terms of realistic physics, and cold/heat in the next game etc..
But I hope that doesn't mean we won't get a graphics bump.
HL2 looked damn good and ran well on decent hardware in 2004, I'm hoping they aim at least at the mid/upper end of hardware available on PC.. if it has to run on a Deck 2 or something then hopefully that's at lower settings, so the game can look grea...
The 5070Ti is the one to look out for, it might be noticeably cheaper than the 5080 and the specs are only a slight step down.
The 5070Ti and 5090 (if you can afford it) are looking like the best options out of them all, and the 5060 is probably coming with 8GB of VRAM which is a joke even if it is a low end option, may as well go for the Intel B580 or look at AMD options as Nvidia are a joke at the lower/mid(ish) end of the scale these days.
The 5090 loo...
The problem is that Nvidia low end cards are quite gimped these days, look at the huge gap between the upcoming 5080 and 5090 for example. The 5090 will be a monster, but every card below will be cut down a lot in terms of specs and still have high pricing.
Nintendo will do okay for many of their first party games, it's the third party ones that will likely have junk performance again within a couple of years of release, if they ever get any ports at all of the demandin...
If you're comparing equivalent hardware then consoles usually get a bit more performance, much more? Not really. And it's easy to get better than equivalent PC hardware at launch of consoles. These days the hardware is much further ahead.
The only better thing about consoles is that they likely get better optimisation over an out of date GPU, a 3-4+ year old GPU probably isn't high on the priority list for better game optimisation via drivers. But by that point ...
I've seen people get outraged after only finding out afterwards that a game has AI generated stuff in it..
It can help speed up game development if it can help craft worlds quicker, it's only when it's sloppily put together that it's bad.. otherwise there's no issue.
Someone forgot how to spell PC, but it'll certainly be on next gen consoles where it won't have low performance.
Good one, too bad they don't put as much effort into some of their games that lack content.
Yeah I had a good feeling about these, good low/mid end card for initial impressions, and pretty cheap.
Hopefully Intel can now aim for the upper range, even if they can compete with 5070/5080 next year, the price could make a huge difference vs the competition.
I heard there won't be a high end card of Battlemage and that they're already aiming to release next gen next year, hope they can do that by Summer and have high end options too if that...
Crysis is a bad example IMO, Half Life 2 is a better example, it ran (mostly) quite well AFAIK, and looked really good at the time. Crysis didn't run well even on top hardware of the time, and IMO it wasn't even that great anyway, I preferred HL2, but each to their own.
Yeah but people think keeping a PC and not upgrading it for a decade is a good idea.. (ROFL) you can get good upgrades in 2-4 years, sometimes even less, nevermind longer.
Steam Deck was meant for low end/mid end spec games at time of release, more powerful PCs aren't hard or super expensive to build even when the Deck came out..
Reminds me of when Isaac Hayes quit SP because he got offended by a joke, but the whole show was offensive from the start.
I wonder if this new GTA will get slated like Saints Row did.
Called the Series X (and in turn PS5) CPU & GPU "low end" which isn't wrong, I mean they're still decent (ish) but PC has pulled far ahead since. Even Intel's starting to bring decent pricing with their mid/low end GPUs now too.
DKR is still much better than any Mario Kart, if counting the single player mode alone anyway.
AI will bring a big speed up to game development for sure, there's already been ton of advancements popping up like creating audio from simple text prompts, creating an explorable 3D image from a single photo, voice cloning for songs and speech, etc.. it means there's already tools there to make a difference if one chooses to use them.
Yeah said this ages ago.. but the crybabies will be raging hard at this.
Yeah with the new features I don't doubt it. But we need to see what's on/off and what frame times are like etc with the new stuff turned on, apparently lower latency this time, we'll see.
