Pointless trying to convince the console fans that it won't, common sense says otherwise, they seem to think a tiny overclock will make the CPU limitations disappear.
Zen 2 was an OK (not the best) CPU for gaming in 2019, not so much these days, it's passable depending on your performance expectations.
I would suspect they purposely showed GPU limited games AKA what we call in the PC benchmarking world as cherry picking, to make it look more favourable.
I wouldn't advise getting a 3070 these days anyway unless you can get a great deal on it and play at 1080p and don't mind reducing some settings, the lack of vram and Nvidia being stingy with it on their mid/lower end cards has been a thing for a while, the 3060Ti (at the time) was much better value because it was only a bit slower.
Next gen 5000 series is around the corner, don't buy current gen or previous gen unless desperate or unless you find a great deal. ...
I mean you can get a cheap 8 core Zen 4 CPU for below £200 imported.. What were they thinking with this pricing for a console running Zen 2 and aimed at budget focused (console) gamers?
That price is super lol worthy, especially considering the outdated CPU.
Yeah, if it's even just half way decently optimised it would run far better on a high spec machine
Plus you can import cheap Zen 4 7000 series CPUs (if going AMD) since Zen 5 was a flop, they will be noticeably more powerful than the consoles. And the new Windows 11 update fetches pretty nice increases if you check Hardware Unboxed on YT.
That comment will set some people off, but yes I expect it to be pretty CPU limited in certain games even with a decent GPU upgrade. It's just going to be kinda lopsided by having a just ok CPU that wasn't even the strongest for gaming by 2019 Zen 2 standards.
They can't grasp GPU tiers, besides, shoving everything on max settings is not the correct way to get better than console performance on recent demanding games.
I'm obviously not smart enough for this conversation. There's your answer guys, PS5 Pro is all you'll ever need hardware wise, as long as you have DLSS you won't ever need a PS6 or 7.
@Einhander So you're gonna believe marketing over people who know what they're doing?
If you want to see real liars go and look at AMD, they've blatantly lied over processor performance at least 2-3 times, showing Zen 3 better than Raptor Lake, and now even charts showing false nonsense performance with Zen 5, which turned out to be a total flop since you can pick up Zen 4 chips from Aliexpress dirt cheap for the same performance and efficiency.
@Einhander "Every time I say the same crap" and then you go on to say that Digital Foundry spread misinformation, LMAO. I've heard them called Intel shills when they used to show Intel processors running games better than early Zen chips (which they did) but that's a new one on me.
Whatever helps you sleep at night though.
"best hardware to play it on" Until it releases on PC with much higher frame rates, detail & draw distance, but it'll be good for a double dip for those that won't want to wait.
The issue is that the game will be running on what will be pretty much a 6 year old CPU by the time the game comes out.
Since the 4090 came out, pretty much. 3080 is more powerful too except for the lack of vram. PS5 is still decent but you'll notice bigger differences soon, especially with next gen GPUs just around the corner.
Kind of expecting RTX remix for this
I made this suggestion before and pretty sure I got down voted for it, but yeah It's a good idea to boost speeds while docked.
Lmao classic PC hating comment, you probably expect a cheap low end GPU to perform amazingly well. Blame Nvidia & AMD for having silly high prices, it wasn't always that way.
Besides if you go upper midrange/high end they far exceeded console in frames per second and have better image quality anyways.
They're still making sequels to films like Gladiator...
DF are obviously pandering to the console watchers, why they'd do that I have no idea. Even Hardware Unboxed said 30fps was "terrible" I mean if you take into account todays standards, they aren't wrong.
Now DF says "30fps ain't bad".
