Uh, you can literally pick up Zen 4 8 core chips for well under 200 on AliExpress for like over a year.. they completely smoke the Zen 2 in the PS5 and Pro.
I mean.. according to DF, next gen consoles won't even match previous gen high end GPUs, given the lackluster increases for the 5000 series I can see it.
I picked up a used AIB 4090 for less than £1200, they cost much more on CEX and eBay, built like a tank and looks like it will be a top tier card for at least the next couple of years.
5090 is so disappointing, 20-30% better at best for over 2x the price I paid? Yea no thanks lol
5080 kind of shat the bed but that was expected given its specs I guess.. I wonder if the same will happen next gen? I heard they'll be on a new node so we'll see.
...
They can be even smaller than they are now, considering they don't even bother to have booklets for any of their games.
Even if there were manuals, they could still fit in smaller cases than the original Switch ones..
Well that's surprising (not..) and the same likely goes for the Pro since it's using the same CPU. People will keep arguing that there's no bottleneck and act like the GPU will carry everything, but the Pro is pretty unbalanced, a weaker CPU paired with a decent GPU is going to go nope when a lot of stuff is going on that requires CPU power.
This will be another game released on multiple systems, PS5/Series x, s, then PC and then next Xbox whatever and PS6.
Too bad their new GPUs are basically near a refresh of the previous gen but still far ahead, a used 4090 (at the right price) is looking good right now.
Or just go new with the upcoming gen.. only problem is the gap between the 5080 and 5090, 5090 isn't massively better (decent, about 30% better) than the 4090 and costs a lot more, the 5080 is still going to be behind the 4090, not as much VRAM but maybe 10-15% behind.. not terrible but not great either.
They're too lazy to give any decent single player mode, they did kind of give one in MK DS.. then they were like: nah let's just give them standard plain racing tracks in future games instead of expanding on mission mode, or making a proper story mode.
Hot and loud.. I imagine, it's got a smaller cooler, even the cheaper AIB cards will be better I imagine, maybe not the Ventus (going from past reviews) but most would generally be better, cooler and quieter (but bigger, potentially not as sleek) VS the FE cards.
I haven't looked much into it beyond standard specs, but apparently the cards use the same node as previous gen, which would explain a not so big uplift..
The next cards might be on a new better node, so I guess try to snatch a bargain 4000 series or go 5070Ti, or even see how the mid range 9070/XT shape up from AMD.
Yeah but they can't even give a proper single player mode, that's nothing but sheer laziness.. Diddy Kong Racing did it way back on the 64.
The problem is latency, frame generation is probably not so bad at the low level but I wouldn't trust the new MFG (multi frame generation) because the latency would be quite high even if the frame rate is high..
I heard the demanding games will get downgraded from Series S.. I would avoid this for any type of demanding game, it's for low/med end games and first party Nintendo games. I already know demanding titles will run like ass.
I just hope Nintendo gives good first party games and not rehash Mario Kart as the same game for the umpteenth time, give us a good SP mode like DKR.. and bring back Pilot Wings and some other Nintendo classics.
The fake frames add latency, on tech forums like OCUK people are already complaining about the small uplift in raster performance and focus on frame generation and ray tracing...
Not to mention the 2k+ price point of them, it's ridiculous. If they performed like something worth that much I wouldn't mind so much.. but even the cheaper cards aren't much better.
I will look at the 5070Ti and even though I could afford the 5090 I think I might fee...
Or they could've just made a plug in device with multiple cart slots for backwards compatibility.. I don't know how well that would've worked but similar worked well for them before.
Mario Kart if it has a good challenging SP mode similar to DKR would be an instant buy for me, if it's a rehash with better graphics then I don't think I'll even bother.. they've done the same thing too many times, the only good addition has been 200cc, 150 and below feels kind of slow now.
Hearing rumours that it's going to receive cut down versions of Series S games, for demanding ones anyway... Oof, I would seriously avoid those if buying this console, it's going to run into issues straight away running anything like that.
Nothing is value focused, it's either 5070Ti or 5090.. simple as that with the Nvidia cards.
AMD might have a good upper mid range solution, Intel? Not sure, but they're doing ok at entry level at the moment, maybe have something better later.
The only good thing about the 5090 though is that it will likely hold its value quite well for most of the 2 years that it's around.
I don't know what's gonna happen with next ...
They're saying better than PSSR! Impressive.. guess it's really close to Nvidia's solution. I'm interested in seeing how the 9070XT or whatever their highest end card will perform, we already know AMD are only aiming for the mid range (or upper mid range) with these new cards but it will still be interesting to see how they compare to a 5070Ti on price/performance.
But certain apps don't play well with AMD that do with Nvidia cards, shame because these c...
5070Ti the sweet spot.. in terms of price to performance by the looks of it, same as rumours suggested, it's too close to the 5080 which is probably why it's not launching at the same time because it almost makes the 5080 look redundant.
This is probably the best way to do It, release full thing instead of showing progress, then any backlash from Nintendo is kind of too late.. but if it got a lot of attention I guess they'd still try and take it down
