Disagree all you like, consoles always run into shortcomings after a bit, that's why Series X is having trouble with Starfield unless you like 30FPS, because of a CPU bottleneck.
Yeah, the original game gets its fair share of flack, but I didn't think it was all that bad. The main thing most complained about was the overuse of turkey enemies, can't say they're wrong. I remember trying the PC version over the internet (fun but laggy) but during the dial up days my connection was only ever good enough for Worms multiplayer until I got broadband sometime later in 2001.
Not really sure how people managed playing FPS, or other real time actio...
Was kind of hoping it would be somewhat similar to the first 3D game, or something like GTA/Hit & Run, I'll have to wait and see what the actual gameplay is like, but the last 2 games didn't interest me if it's like that.
As expected on consoles after a few years, every time it's brought up we always get the same excuses though like "cpu and gpu super powerful, we don't need more" from the fanboys.
Or "new gen too soon they haven't taken full advatage of current hardware yet"
Consoles will still get nice games, just more compromised on textures/resolution/framerate. This ALWAYS happens.
I only had the CD version of Final Fight but yeah great game, great music. Challenging too.
The Desert/Jungle Strike games need to return too.
When I used to play Worms 2 online with one of my buddies in 99 at least one of them would rave about the original game, Command & Conquer and also Age of Empires. Really popular games back in the day.
In one game, and DF tend to always use the highest end hardware for comparison, doesn't mean you need it or that it's even necessary.
How long did it take console to get above 60hz/fps? PC had that even with CRT screens, and again in 2012 with LCD monitors.
How long did it take for console to have SSD drives that sped up everything from startup, shutdown, software loading, game loading, map loading? Over a decade.
Also "10x...
Wouldn't expect much, that said it looks like it actually runs (kind of) and is somewhat playable even on a pretty junk PC going by the PC Rich was using. Which is surprising.
Yea, COD was good at first, now it's just recycled. Online MP replaced after just 1 year.
Any decent MP game could easily be 3-4 years before a new game comes out worthy of replacing it, especially when you get constant new content. Garry's Mod was so popular for that reason, and now S&box will take that further.
Oof. guess people have been emulating this already. And likely at better quality & frame rate than the actual console.. Pretty embarrassing for Nintendo.
Pretty cool, kinda has that CD/Ova animation style.
Right? Same recycled stuff.. 90's and early 2000's were great for games, PC had a great variety of games and if just counting FPS titles the 90's had Half Life, Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3, Aliens vs Predator. early 2000's had Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Soldier of Fortune 2, Half Life 2 with an actual revolution in game interactivity with physics and stuff, Half Life 2:DM and CS Source and then Garry's Mod off the back of em.
Thankfully at least we have ...
I had the Megadrive, SNES and then megaCD, skipped the Saturn and had a PS1. As I understand it the PS1 did quite a lot better overall, but the Saturn had some really good 2d games especially shmups.
Also I don't get why they didn't make a full game out of Sonic JAM on the Saturn, It looked like they could have from what they already made.
As Gabe Newell says about consoles: Walled gardens.
Probably remove a feature or 2 from anything but their most expensive phone out of anger. Gotta keep the greed level as high as possible.
Speaking of SA1 & 2 what happened to Amy's model in SA2? IMO the one in the first game was much better.. why they had to change it IDK.
L4d2 has some of the worst players. Usually mini hitler admins with mental issues who need some kind of control over people.
Question is, will Nintendo cheap out on the hardware yet again? Maybe they'll surprise us and even have new solid state cooling like the Airjet.. Yeah, probably not likely..
If you're referring to the hardware, I agree. People go nuts saying stuff like "it's all about optimisation" yeah it is to an extent, but if your hardware isn't powerful enough to handle at least moderately demanding games then you're screwed anyway, and then you can expect 30fps with dips or resolution compromises. Same with any console given a demanding enough title.
Because these days pricing is very high on GPUs, the other stuff is very reasonable, RAM, storage, well priced today. Many bought cheap GPUs even when higher end cards were reasonably priced though.
