Picked up a 4090 for just over £1300 when the very codes were active, only a bit more than a 4080 here so was a no brainer for that price.

Frame generation adds input lag. I said "poor value" I didn't say they were poor performance, they're not good price/performance. You're splashing out a lot of money for a 4080 when a 4090 is not that much more for a noticeable performance boost. Even Hardware Unboxed think the same, that basically almost anything below a 4090 AMD has the market, unless you care about RT, which wouldn't be great on a mid range card anyways. People here clearly have no clue if they di...

3 had a good balance of difficulty before crybabies stepped in and cried about the difficulty of SMW, which is why the game was made easier before release. Would also explain why most other games have been easier except for special worlds etc.. or ones you unlock after you beat the main game.

Isn't the reason we got a Doki Doki Panic sprite swap because Lost Levels was originally deemed too difficult?

Demanding? Hardly, 3700x was released in 2019 and only just caught up to Intel's 8700k which was usually still better in games. 16GB of ram has been cheap for ages, at least for DDR4.. Even 32GB of good speed DDR5 is reasonable now.

You can argue the 4070 requirement for Ultra is maybe a little steep but TBF the Nvidia cards this gen are all mostly poor price/performance unless you plump for a 4090, anything below that AMD has pretty much got the market on for raster pe...

Heard some people were disappointed with Mario because it's too easy, I guess they've done it so you need to unlock special/extra stages for more difficulty? Wish they would stop doing that, but I guess the majority want easy games.. I think they've been doing that since SMW, shame.

Lacking extreme sports games this gen, need a revival of ESPN Extreme Games, Road Rash style. Not really sure it's classed as a PS franchise but it was on PS1 anyway.

To be fair you could make that argument for any 2D game really these days.

Both Stories games were far better than GTA 3 IMO, VCS being the best and most enjoyable though.

To be fair all consoles hold back gaming to a certain degree, the PS5/Series X less so, but I honestly don't give a damn about COD, or at least haven't for a while. I played the first game on PC and some other FPS titles, much of COD is rehashed stuff and there are & have been better shooters anyway.

Nintendo should stick to first party games, make them look nice, make sure they run at a fairly stable 60fps.. and job done. IF they can get 3rd party games runnin...

Have you seen the size of an RTX 4090? They are huge, granted they are much more powerful than the GPUs in the consoles but still, these days they need all the cooling they can get. I wouldn't expect them to get smaller, that's why the "slim" PS5 is barely any different than the standard PS5.

Rumours are also swirling that the PS5 Pro will still use a Zen 2 CPU, giant oof if true because newer CPUs like AMD 7000 series and Intel 12th/13th gen are a lot mor...

Initial price hikes might mean discounts more often, if you don't like the price I wouldn't suggest buying though, otherwise if too many do then prices will stay higher for longer.

Still a bit unsure about digital only games, Steam needs an option to somehow resell your games.

The thing that sucks about physical games with Steam is that once you use the key, it gets tied to your account, making the disc almost useless since you can't sell it a...

COD is replaced every year or almost every year, it has no time to hold a player base. 3-4 years is a good timeline for a sequel IMO if the game has enough content to begin with, maybe add a couple of free content updates a bit later after release if needed, and job done until the next game.

Soldier of Fortune 2 was one of my first few online FPS games apart from RTCW and a couple of others, and that had a couple of free patches which added in new weapons, maps and a new ga...

I remember Black & White (PC) but other than that I can only think of Fable, B&W was a pretty cool game tho at the time.

There will need to be a Pro model next year if it wants any chance of standing against midrange PC GPUs for UE5. PC has already surged ahead by miles with a 4090 and will completely dominate when the 5000 series launch.

Also a mistake Sony made was not having an external disc drive work with the digital model, instead forcing people to buy a new console.

Isn't that almost what COD is all the time now? I used to like it when we had plenty of variety.. Now it seems like certain games keep getting made (some too much, like COD) and everything else comes and goes in phases.

CS2 is a bit surprising, even though I barely played CS, I was more of a Garry's Mod or HL2:DM kinda person. Valve are usually known for quality.

I thought maybe it's because some (big boring) world games were taking longer to test so not every bug is found, but I guess that's not it.

https://youtu.be/148my7awgQ... DF covered it, it's needed for demanding games if it wants to keep up with PC.

Dude, after 2-3 years you're gonna always be saying the same thing with any console. If you want high FPS you're gonna have to go with a PC pretty much, or accept that consoles will be good at first but PC pulls ahead a lot in a couple of years after it releases.

https://youtu.be/148my7awgQ... Same as these guys said, you only need to watch the first minute.

GTA 3 was the most boring one if you compare to all the 3D GTA games, IMO of course.

Also I would say Half Life 2 should easily be better than Halo, for 2004 it was awesome in terms of physics, and shortly after it came out it also had online multiplayer.

It ran much better on Intel. Intel are usually known (or were) to have noticeably better single core performance.
