Yeh sorry that's a very simplistic view. You're making the erroneous assumption that all of the money that is raked in from season passes and unscrupulous microtransactions is piled straight back into development. It won't be. It only lines greedy publishers' pockets and gives them the knowledge that consumers, like yourself, will happily shell out for this stuff, irrespective of what content is in the game on release.
This is a cancer of the video game indust...
I appreciate the change of pacing present in the cutscene. It cannot be all-out action all of the time otherwise it loses its impact. I'm really not convinced that the dialogue options will add anything, and they may even detract slightly from cutscene enjoyment.
It'll still be fantastic, anyway, no doubt. Just an odd choice for me.
Agree with you 100%. Ni no Kuni was an incredibly moving game at times, and a ridiculously funny one other time. It just took you on a rollercoaster of emotions if you let it. Cannot wait for the sequel!
Looking pretty good, just need to fill it with melting snowmen and murderous gingerbread men now!
Loved the proper Onimusha games. The feudal Japan setting with zombies was superb and the combat super smooth. Definitely hope it comes back.
Great read, and I'm completely with you. I respect Naughty Dog hugely but I don't see why them focusing on realistic games means they can't translate the lesson they've learned to bring back Crash or Jak and Daxter. They've become master-craftsmen of video game worlds - imagine that skill applied to a fantastical universe.
There is little doubt that mobile gaming will usurp handheld gaming. It's a matter of when, not if, in my opinion. I'm still not convinced that it will be ruin the console and PC gaming market, though.
At least it won't in my house!
Have to respectfully disagree. Yes they have completely different worlds, but they're still subject to the same criteria that one would look at when assessing the merits of an RPG - narrative, quests, world aesthetics, gameplay mechanics, etc.
Nostalgia hit! :)
It seems to be the norm these days. I don't blame the developers as they're probably rushed into the release. I'm not sure we can even blame the publishers, as tempting as it may be, because they're just driven by profits.
It's our pre-order culture and acceptance of broken games that is the problem.
Liked the look of this for a while. Hope there will be a cut price physical release though.
With you there. RDR was one of my top games of the last generation.
Great list. Love the goldfish in Earthworm Jim. Bit harsh putting Gohma in there as was the opening boss. Morpha would've been my shout. Neither are Vicar Amelia that's for sure!
Very in depth article. I do find it interesting how the censors now almost always have sex, gender or racial concerns now. Extreme violence is absolutely fine, seemingly. I guess the games industry follows societal taboos pretty closely.
Thought this game was very good when I played it on PS4. The Vita needs all the games that it can get at the moment.
Agreed. She's always how I imagined Lara to sound. Don't actually remember her speaking in the original game! Just hopping backwards a lot.
Love the look of this, but we're so spoilt for RPGs I'm not sure I'll ever get around to picking it up.
Compared to the often obscene language in the chat this seems like a minor infringement to me. Just one aspect of CoD's childish nature.
May just be me but, rose-tinted nostalgia spectacles off, I NEVER enjoyed being stuck for weeks on a frustrating platforming section or puzzle. I for one am glad that that's a rarity nowadays.
That said, I do agree that the kill count gets a little ridiculous in the later games, and the sense of adventure has been replaced with that all-too-common sense of exploration.
I remember Star Wars: Bounty Hunter back in the day on the PS2. Loved the game seeing the seedy underworld of the Star Wars universe from the point of view of a jetpack-boasting bounty hunter. Would love to see the potential fully realised in 1313.
